I don't like this kind of thing. I prefer to achieve the money using my own work, because, after all, that is the reason that I'm playing the game. To achieve what the creators proposed. To find new things. If you buy things in the game with real money, your not really enjoying the game. I know that some games demand a lot of time in order to achieve what you want, but is not my way of doing things. If the game demands a lot of time, and I don't have it, I'll play something else. I'm certain that there's a lot of games that I can enjoy. But I can't blame people who do it. It's their money, so, their problem. They can expend it in the way that they want. And I think that the most important thing is to feel pleasure while playing. And if to enjoy the game you need to buy items with real money, so do it. But don't use it to screw another player fun.

I'd rather waste it on crappy hentai sites. i'd be more satisfied..

many people who are playing wow do that .. and i think ist crap ..
why should i earn rela money to spend it in a game .. i better buy me real stuff and get a good standart

That used to annoy the crap out of me back when I played FFXI. I used to see Gil sellers a lot, and it peeved me off.
I'm glad they all got booted; too bad it was after I quit it.
Monthly fees are a biznatch..

For one thing, it's illegal
For another, yes... It's VERY stupid. But then again, it depends ont eh deal, too. If I can buy hundreds of WoW gold coins for like, 20 dollars, it would make very much sense. It saves me hours upon hours of working for it. OTOH, it would be pretty stupid if I spent hundreds for it, because hundreds of dollars > some hours. So, I guess it depends on how much I'm willing to pay and how much I'm getting.
I've heard stories where people bought EQ castles for THOUSANDS. Pretty crazy

Um, for many games they have a built in offer for selling money. personally, i think its stupid. kinda robs the people who actually play the satisfaction. Not to mention that people buy accounts and stuff like that. But if you have a job, it would be alot easier to buy a good account for $20 instead of pllaying for like 20 hours. but its the journey that counts for me
Absolutely not. I hope your friend is breaking his Terms Of Service, gets caught and gets banned from the game.
Real Money Transfer RUINS economies in MMORPGs. I played FFXI for 2.5 years and Gil Sellers constantly ruined the economy because they would monopolize Named Monsters and anything else that was worth something and they would just keep jacking the price or undercutting crafters to the point of it not even being profitable anymore.
The Gil sellers wouldn't have a job if people wouldn't buy Gil. So in essence anybody that does this is harming the game and ruining it for everybody else on that server.

I completely agree with the previous statements. It does ruin the games economy. Still dont understand why people are freaking out about spending money on games?? It cost a monthly fee to play WoW? lol well I guess this is KINDA different. Anyways people buy money online because they're too freaking lazy to go out and get it themselves. I do understand that by buying the gold that it saves you alot of time that you would have spent just saving up on the game, but I'd still prefer to earn it myself! :D

Buying in game money is not really an ethical dilemma as much as it is a choice between easy and hard (not good and bad). By this I mean that if you are a level 1 player in WoW but possess a fortune, it really is not going to be fun. But if you are level 60 and you want to buy an epic mount, I dont think killing a bunch more mobs is really going to be quite boring. It really is a simple question of whether or not you are going to be skipping something that might be fun.

I think as long as you don't overdue it, and you really like the whatever your gonna buy it's reasonable. It's just another way the company is getting more money. However, if the currency is overpriced and unreasonable, then forget it =D

No, I don't do this
This sounds more for online games huh?
I use ot play a game called GunBound, MMORPG
I'm pretty sure somoene knows it
where you could pay with real money, to buy the money in there
well, I think it's a waste of money, The main purpose of playing these games is to have fun right?
not to be the famous, rich guy and all that stuff
I don't really agree on this..

I tried buying ingame money once in Gunbound and I regret it. It's a waste cause I don't even play that game anymore it only lasted for the moment. I want my $5.00 back! XD
So yeah, buying in game money is stupid. Use your money to buy some food.

Depends on the value of the item/s and how hyped and addicted we are on the game. People may say it's a waste of money but hey enjoyment is important too it can help relieve stress and stress is bad for the health ^^ (and it's not their money hahahaha).
Well .. it's sound freakinly dumb for me ... what for buying fake stuff when you can buy REAL stuff ? i'll prefer using in-game money to buy real money .... hehehehe ..* grimish laught *
