As an animation, Bakemonogatari has a simple, clean art style. But the guest illustrations for the series are anything but simple! So, it's great to see that °Tens took on a more complex illustration and made it his own with vector gradients so fine at points it more resembles painting that vectoring. Do have a look at this beautiful wallpaper!

Ok, so I'm sure that all you teen readers have heard about the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer. I read it 3 years ago, when it came out! (I was an early bird)
I just thought it was lame that people would role their eyes about the fact I was reading a book about vamps 3 years ago, and now, its one of the hottest books on the shelf!

To those who have read it: what do you think about it? Do you think it's taking over the world? What about the movie that's coming out? Would you go to see it? Or wouldn't you b/c you think it might ruin the whole concept of the book if its not accurate to the series?

I haven't read them yet I want to but I read the majority of the Annie Rice Vamp novels about 4 years ago and almost every Vampire Hunter D Novel lately. But in the 90's when the Interview with the vampire movie came out and when, the badly done, Queen of the damned came out you could have said the same thing. And to a degree you could say the same thing about Harry Potter, and the some what the Eargon series.

It is just a passing trend, and not a bad one at that. Plus, it has been a lone time coming. It would no have to be the Twitlight series.I would just have to be something that is well written, that the youth of America and or the world can relate to, and that was moderately successful, as well as appealing to a Hollywood director and producer.

The point is if it is not marketable to the mass majority of the population, the youth of the world, it would not be such a big deal.

I mean what about that bad boy dark side of the moon is not alluring. You do realize that they are pushing this toward tween, teen, and girls under the age of thirty. Heart throbs are easy money.

I like the books and have read them but think they're overated. Which is no supprise since most books are. Thats not saying that they're not good cause they are. The later ones are the better ones as the writer gets into the swing of things though. It's just another one of those books that hits it off. As The Major mentioned harry potter and eragon both good but not the best. I think what happens is that everyone hears that it's good and reads it even if they don't read much. Then they think it's good and pass it on..
The movie so no looking forward to that.. They usually butcher books when they make them into movies especially the longer books. Plus I don't think that the dude playing Edward is that sexy. Maybe it's just me..

This movie is going to turn out like the harry potter series, A series of successful sequels. Accurate or not, I'm sure the movie won't ruin it for the fans. If people can live with marvel movies not following the comics, this can as well. I will definitley watch it when i get the chance.

Omg I can't wait for the movie to come out, mainly just to see Robert Pattinson |(n_n)| emoticonOkay Okay I probably sound like it but I am NOT one of those over-the-top fan girls. It sucks that they delayed the release from November to December. I think Bella and Edward's casting was perfect but the others are just bleh I mean Rosalie is supposed to be this drop dead gorgeous blond but the girl whos playing her isn't all that pretty no offense shes okay but I think they could've done better. I've finished reading the first two books just this week and have to say the second was much much better than the first. The first book was unbelievably sappy. Anyways ya I really like the series even though it's a very cliche and unbelievable romance.

It's a bad habit of mine to resist popular things. And so I never read the series until months after the last one came out, and my best friend had me read Twilight. I am now not ashamed to say I am a fan.
On the contrary, I thought the first book (Twilight) was the best. It's a romance in the first person, which can be annoying if the author is lacking in voice. Meyer's writing in Twilight is rather natural and descriptive to me. I bought just the one, because I wanted to own it.
The rest of the series, in my opinion, are like movie sequels: disappointing, and trying too hard for the magic of the original when basic elements are weak or lacking.
Anyway, besides my own opinion, I think the truth is no one likes flaming fans that are overzealous in their opinion. Fanatical and obsessed behavior endears no one. I think most people look down on the fans of the Twilight series because of the fanatical readers it has. And so, I am glad I read them in the end, because now I have a fair opinion (~_~) emoticon

The books are alright. Meyer has a poor writing style in my opinion. I struggled to make it through Twilight, I liked New Moon better, loved Eclipse and liked Breaking Dawn in parts. The story was great. The execution of the story was mediocre. Having said that- I have tickets to the midnight showing of the film on Thursday night. I am looking forward to a film more than the book for the first time. Books are always better than movies. But this author sucks so badly- I'm looking forward to the film much more.

And no- Twilight is not taking over the world. The Harry Potter series owns that right - as it should be. Harry Potter was written by an excellent author and far exceeds anything Meyer could ever hope for. Twilight is a fad. Just like Miley Cyrus and the Jonas Brothers.

Ugh. ^^; Please don't attack me for saying I haven't read and never plan on reading the books.

I was honestly hoping for it to be good, but everything I've read about it (including actual excerpts from the story and plot summaries, as I don't currently have a way to get my hand on a copy without buying it) makes me sad for the sorry state of youth readers. =/ The writing style is dreadful in my opinion.

I think I'd be more interested if she gave her characters more depth and Bella wasn't completely dependent on her relationship with Edward. Likewise, everything I've read about Bella reeks of Mary-Sue. If Edward actually showed more personality, I think I'd find him more attractive of a character making their romance more enjoyable to read about. Besides that, the whole concept of vampires in her story seems unrealistic, and we're talking about vampires. They have hardly any flaws or vampiric features at all. =/

But I digress...

I must have been living under a rock these past 3 years because I have absolutely no idea what the Twilight series is about. @~-J@ I only found out about it when I watched the movie trailer on youtube. Seriously, is it really that great? I hear it's quite popular with the teens nowadays.. and a lot of people have been comparing it to Harry Potter =/ But i really doubt the Twilight books will ever be as popular as the HP series.. it's just.. just no..

That said.. i'll try to get my hands on the first book just to see what all the hype is all about..

But when I read the sequel I was like AAAAAAAHHHH. I am crazy about it. Everything about it is great. Bella & Edward, all the side characters! I can’t wait for the movie. It’s gonna be great! Its time people moved on off harry potter, I mean come on! You know what movie it’s not even out yet but its soundtracks are already number one! It’s so gonna blow off the charts!

ALL YOU TWILIGHT HATERS OUT THERE, THINK OVER IT AGAIN COZ you are MISSING SOMETHING GREAT!

The book's not so bad, but telling the story from bella's pov does make it seem a bit boring, even if she is a bit different from the usual teen characters we see. but then the whole human/vampire love story as been used and abused for so long that it makes me feel that there's nothing new to this. and no, hp's still a hell lot better, not best, but still better

i have read the excerpt of midnight sun though, personally i think meyer should have started with this book instead, the story seems so much more interesting from edward's pov

i guess meyer still needs more time and experience to improve, hopefully she'll be able to come up with something more interesting the next time

Honesty, who thinks a vampire love story is anything close to original?
Seriously, every freaking scene girl has been lapping this up at my school like a dog and peanut butter. If I ever see something that's a recycled subject like this become so damned popular, I may explode in a burst of confetti, tears, and awesome. Let original things come into the fray for once! For me, please?
So for now, all I can do is RRRRAAAAAAAGGGGEEEE!!

Best book ever? Meyer is not a very good author. Read some more books, fama. You'll be surprised at the amount of amazing books out there. This is not one of them.

True, that may not be original- but given your statements I would venture to say that you haven't finished reading the story. Warning: spoilers below.

SPOILER (click to view)

Making judgements before knowing the entire plot is a little foolish.
