The Smell Of Rain
Hey does anyone else out there have this thing for the "smell of rain"? You know when its about to rain the air outside smells like... ermm.. can't really describe it in words but yeah there's definitely a different smell than when its a normal day. I've asked a number of my friends outside but they hate it!
I might also add the i can work/study do whatever better when its raining. It helps me concentrate... I've even got a recording of the rain on my walkman to listen to when i'm studying or even sleeping. Does anyone else out there feel the same way i do?

Hmm, I like cold, foggy, humid days just because is presents a peaceful mysterious atmosphere, but I don't really smell anything. I physically feels different, like your skin feels the cool wind and moisture when you're outside but I don't smell anything...maybe some people can smell it and others can't? As fas as the noise of the rain goes, as long as it's not a huge downpour, I don't mind it at all, but I neither hate it nor like it. If my roof is making that sound, I don't mind it, in fact I hardly ever notice it unless I'm asleep, and when it's not there, it's no loss for me.
I was thinking, maybe the rain creates some kind of chemical reaction to the trees and stuff around us and only some people can smell it...dunno, just an observation.

Haha the smell of impending rain is probably due to the acidity. It's the slightly sour smell right? Yeah I liked studying when it's raining too. The constant of falling water acts as a kind of white noise to blot out disruptions, which means my attention won't wander too much :) Also, I like the way the winds start to pick up just before the rain. My country's hot whole year round, so such winds are always welcomed. Oh, and I like the way the whole place starts to darken when the storm clouds approach. Perfect for sleeping. Lol.

The "smell of rain" kinda a bit strong atmosphere for me but except were those bad weather situations which I did know. All I did know many people get suffered of the storm, all of us knows it. The truth is, my country really hot and also from asian continent which makes me feel fraustrated of terrible pressure. Whoa man it makes my skin feels burnt like fried chicken. Ohhhh...my head...
But when it comes to rainy weather, I just really like it especially winds were good and to cool your own body. I have strong point of cool ones which makes me happy.

I miss Darwin, I use to get around 6 months of rain *dreams* but I enjoy the smell and i's fun to fun into when it's poring down by the bucket load... I feel happier, safer, calmer, I can work better to, I feel more active and my rat likes the smell to :P

@kowweihao: Yeah totally me too!! I love the wind! although not when i'm outside. My umbrella gets top sided when the wind pushes from underneath which can be annoying. And i also like the when the whole sky darkens. I just sit by the window and watch the rain go. ITs really cool!! I also love thunder! although a lot of people think its scary.

Ah!! I love the earthly smell of rain! Its so good... Specially when its the first rain of the season. Nothing compares to the fragrance that the damp earth has when it just starts raining.
Although I must say I hate getting wet in the rain!

I love these chilly, misty, rainy days, they've got something relaxing. I totally adore the atmosphere, it's kinda like a melancholy or something.

Oh, I love the smell of rain, I find it really refreshing, and I like the sound of rain as well. I have no idea why, but I love it.

Oh yes, I definitely feel the same way. I love rain very much. I don't know why people hate it. I like falling asleep while it's raining. The smell, sometimes I like it, sometimes I don't. I don't like it when it's real humid outside and after it rains it feels so hotly wet. Before the rain, it feels so sad and fresh. I hope it stays like that forever. Raining weather boosts my mood. I can be sad the moment before but after seeing the rain, I'm so happy (but not cheerful).

I love the rain too, everything about it- the smell, the fact that it's cooler outside, the sound, the fact that it's not blindingly bright...
But yes, I love that smell when you know it's going to rain, though. I love the smell of rain altogether.

I just love listening to the sound of heavy rainfall tapping against my window - no particular reason why i like it so much. I also think after a heavy rainfall it makes the grass smell a lot nicer too :)
Although it would be a different story if I was the one under the rain getting soaked and cold...

I think it's because it's a rhytmic, relaxing sound... rain hitting the side of a house, or the ground in general. It's almost musical even. ^_^

freakin country rains nine months in a continuous cycle, doesn't stop and when it does, the weather is cloudy or moody.
whatever the sentimental value associated with the rain is reigned over the edge by the boredom one experiences all day listening to the same tune, and looking at the same mossy, moody, wet, lethargic weather and miserable months that pass by.
You will see.
It is not so sentimental after a full week.
