Anime fans' day. Should we have such kind of holiday?
Hi people. First I gotta explain the title of this topic a little bit. Well, some people think that we should have a day of anime fans. Some kind of international holiday. What do you think of it? We, at russian anime fansites, are extremely interested in your opinion and we would be very glad to hear ANY ideas about this thing. So please feel free to discuss)
Please note that I'm not the one who started all this. As about myself, I think that this holiday in't necessary. Of course, we COULD have one, but only COULD.

Anime is a form of media, ja, and....well, maybe good as a holiday internet based, not really recognized by the world, in which stores are closed for the day or something lol ~__~
I mean, there are other kinds of media out there, right? Surely they don't have a widely recognized holiday. Of course, a Anime holiday recognized by the fans is a good idea. I'm kind of wondering though, what kind of date would it be? lol
The kind of day and month that would be friendly to fans from around the world. Hmm....I'm sure Japan has a type like this, and maybe we can learn a few pointers from them ^_____^

I don't think it would be handy. Why? Well because then every media/hobby etc wants a holiday. I think international holidays are things that are about things everyone knows about or where people need to bring their attention towards. So no.
mangamousie, yeah, I've already heard such opinion. Of course, not here, but that doesn't really matter. You're actually right. But come to think of it, inspite of minuses this idea has its own pluses, and it isn't easy to decide which side needs more attention. But I understood your opinion.

Bad idea. Think about it, do you really need a holiday to celebrate your passion? (or hobby lol) I celebrate my hobby every single day by watching anime reading manga, and playing ero games, and anime related rpgs and mmo's. I don't need a holiday now do I?

I think it sounds like a really bad Idea, I mean it is kind of to much. Anime is just an ordinary media, then should we have holidays for the usual american movies?

Though anime does put other types of tv shows to shame, it would be a little much to have a holiday for anime fans...
I think that'd be wierd. I mean, a whole day just to celebrete manga and anime and stuff. I really cant see the making that into a holiday. I mean we dont have any holidays dedicated to tv. If you want to have a party celebrating anime, be my guest, but they're not gonna go that far on making it into a holiday.

An online petition? Those things don't even move companies to releasing products. It's got no chance of getting any government to appoint a new holiday for anything.
It'll never be an official holiday anywhere. It's just a form of entertainment, and while I feel it is an excellent form of entertainment it is just a fraction of what is there. Everyone will want their own holidays for their passion, and pretty soon we'd have year round holidays.

You know, I also didn't sign this petition. I understand that some people will see that kind of holiday as discrimination of themselves. Although it would be good to have a day when, for example, we could see some more anime on tv than usual or something else. I mean, without having some public concerts to celebrate it and so on.
I think you might ask me why did I write about it here. Well, it's only because the more people will express their opinion, the more motivized the decision will be. And, what is more, it's obvious that some people want that holiday to be. This petition was already signed by about 3000 people. And that's only from Russia (or by russian people from other countries).

I don't like the idea. They could I guess but holidays mostly just help the economy so it would just be money outta our pockets. I think it's kinda dumb actually.

Mm. TV channels tend to do days when they run a certain show/series/concept etc. Not sure if any of these have ever covered "just anime" though. None that I recall.
This concept is better and, more importantly, more plausible than trying to petition for a new holiday.
