Utada
I like her music...although I was introduced to her by english album, Exodus...primarily "Hotel Lobby"...but after going through her music...she's very good. Any fans here?
I love her. Truthfully, the only reason why I know her is from the two songs from the opening Kingdom Hearts theme... Sanctuary and Simple and Clean are like... my favorite songs... Shes got and amazing voice!
PS- Why do you keep makinf so many threads!?!?! Topics: 34?!? Stop unless you really need to make a new thread, like you could combine both this thread and the thread about the other singer...

Gomen, I haven't been on here for 3 days...and I went a little...posting crazy...(LOL!)
Lol, thats okay, I like the fact that each artist gets their own thread. Well as for Utada, the first song I heard from her was hikari. Once I couldn't get enough, I decided to get more of her other songs. What can I say, she has an amazing voice. It especially amazes me how she can sing without a japanese accent when she's sing in english.
Well, my top 3 faves from her will have to be
1. Hikari
2. I love you
3. First love
how bout you guys??

I'm sorry but the moment I heard her "sing" "He's easy breezy and I'm japnaesezy" I wanted to light her on fire.
My initial reaction might have been a little strong but come on japanesezy, WTF!
(Btw I have no idea how to spell japaneseieeyyey, see :P)

Utada hikaru is one of my favorite artists. i was introduced to her music around the time her "distance" album dropped in 2001. then shortly after i backtracked to her "first love" album and became an instant fan.
i really don't know what it is about her music, but its cool to listen to. a lot of people get so attached to the fact that she writes her own music, when artists like ACO have been doing the same exact thing since 1995 and people don't really even know about her till this day.
as far as favorites, mine are:
1. final distance
2. deep river
3. sakura doroppsu
4. never let go
5. how ya doin' (cubic u)
she isnt my absolute favorite, but she is up there on my favorites list.
by the way. to me, her EXODUS album doesnt exist. it is a terrible piece of crap that should be deleted from her career discography.

Dont lie, you dont listen to a single metal band. I like her work in the KH series.

Totally agree with you EXODUS is her worst album to date...shocker!!!!
I first listened to her first songs Automatic and First Love...I think Time will Tell was somewhere around there too...anyway I'm not really a big Hikki fan these days as I used to be but "First Love" is very good song and it'll always be a JPOP classic for me...I remember when it first came out everyone was humming to that song...it was just an awesome song
If you want a good Hikki album and you wanna save money...get Hikki's Best Collection album...its totally awesome, every song is a familiar classic such as: Addicted to you, Can you Keep a Secret, Sakura Drops, Final Distance, Hikari...definitely no regrets
If you guys like Utada that much...well...I found a website that remixes some of her songs and other artists as well...here's the link if you want to check it out... Crescent's Remixes - Hikaru Utada

Her music was so nice, i meet her once at the concert in japan... by golly... what a memorable experience for me, gettng her photograph and all... just by hearing her music puts me into a good mood. Well i cnt really say that EXODUS is her worst albun, there are still nice tracks.
Well for those that have been following utada for a long time, we all know she was trying to go on the experimental tip and didnt care about making a high selling album for her u.s. "debut", but man is EXODUS a tragedy. i think people who say they like her japanese albums and at the same time say EXODUS is tolerable is just straight up lying to themselves just because haha.
i dont think her singles collection has all her best tracks, but if you just wanted to grab just one of her albums, of course that would be the obvious choice.
her voice was definitely best in her earlier days as "CUBIC U" in my opinion. much more smooth. i'm pretty sure she can still sing like that as she displays that tone of voice when she performed at the mtv unplugged thing singing her old hits.. but whatever.

Good to see people are replying to this.....

Her song Devil Inside is just freaken` awesome. It sounds like music from an 8-bit nintendo Boss fight. XD
I've got all 4 albums, First Love and Distance are still on top of my list. ^^
With Exodus, I think she saw a new lease of life she could go for. Some of the lyrics are cheesy fun and its the first time she's been sexually outgoing too - her Japanese lyrics are kinda made to be poetic. She's finally let loose here I suppose - some of it works - some of its just funny. And then there's this instance where I can't help but wonder why she choose certain lyrics like "You're easy breezy and I'm japanesey" (japaneasy?) ._.
As for the actual songs I think they're very catchy. Devil Inside, Exodus 04, Hotel Lobby, Kremlin Dusk...almost all the songs have something stand out in them for me. I have to say its more elctro-pop than run of the mill and with all those quirks and her reaching the edge of her voice range and still going on will not win her over to many peeps - I just think its a completely different base for her and I admit I thoroughly enjoyed it. XD I wouldn't expect her next Japanese album to follow where Exodus left off though. ^^
