Waste of Gaming Technology

Have you ever seen a game that used something in a new, original way and then found out that it was *only* game to ever use it, ever? Isn't that a waste? This isn't just a discussion on this, but just other ways that gaming technology has just been wasted in any way, shape, or form.
Me? I think that the voice recognition technology for the N64 was wasted. It was only used once for Hey, You, Pikachu! I would've liked to see more games that used it.

Yeah that was a total waste, too bad it wasn't used in any other games the same would go for the GameCube's broadband adapter, it was only used in the Phantasy Star Online Series while the Xbox and PS2 used it in almost every game, what a waste of innovation on the GameCube
I've never used it personally, but it would have been nice if more games came out to make use of the Xbox's Steel Battalion controller. At least more than the two Steel Battalion games that came out. Thankfully, some people have made PC drivers that you can use with an Xbox-to-USB adapter and the giant desk-sized controller, so it can be used with games like MechWarrior.
The wario ware twisted and a kirby game for the gameboy advance were the only games that came with the tilt sensor, it would have been nice if it would have come out for other games like mario, or maybe even metroid

The Game Boy Color's IR port. So rarely used they never even added it to the GBA. :( That had some serious potential.
Also, some third-party N64 add-ons added a tilt/motion sensor to the controller. Official games could have used that sort of thing, but never did. For that matter, the N64 memory cards were practically worthless because so many games only saved to the built in memory anyway.

VirtualBoy by Nintendo? it was something new for sure, but caused bad eyes damn fast =)
I was always a little disappointed that the backwards-comtatability cartrdge technology that Sonic and Knuckles used wasn't implemented again with another game or series. When I first saw Sonic and Knuckles using the technology, I thought it was the begining of something new, but nope, that was it.
Unless some other company did make use of it, and I just didn't notice.

Mega Drive (Genesis) cartridges that had two controller ports on them. I saw them on some of the micro machine games, but never on anything else. It's a genius idea for a console that only came with 2 controller ports, and if you shared the controllers you could have up to 8 people playing at once. I haven't seen a game that could do that on a single console other than sports games with two multi-taps on the PS.
Another thing which I hoped would develop was the link cable for PS1. Yes, you had to drag a TV and playstation with you, but it meant you could play things like C&C against a friend rather than having to bring a PC instead.
