final fantasy VIII
I'll start this topic off with a hint, INFINITE GIL! this may take a lot of effort to reach though...
first you need:
med. refine
haggle
sell high
call shop (optional)
and a little money to start you off!
first go to any store that has cottages AND tents, (like Esther's shop) buy as many of both as you can.
Use Med. refine to turn these into Mega-Potions. sell the mega-potions, If you had bought 100 of both tents &cottages, you would have spent about 20,000 gil. selling your 75 Mega-potions will go for about 50,000! 30,000 gil PROFIT! do this as many times as you wish. I'll be back next time with another usefull hint^_^, DUKE OUT!

This game is quite possibly the best playstation 1 game. It had everything.
Oh, if Sony only made a remake of Final Fantasy 7 and 8 for their PS3 I'd buy one now, instead of waiting.
I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one with that opinion.
Anyways, enough of the hijack, FF8 is my game of choice, I've honestly beaten it over 20 times (memory card saves to boot) so it's good.
8 years later this game is still a bucket of fun.

Would that happen to be a certain sequence involving the lunar cry?
I've run into glitching there on two seperate copies myself, both non-greatest hits versions. (the first one I killed by overplaying it :P)
In any case, just go the local EB games or Gamestop, pick up a copy for $20. It's good to have around anyways :D
edit: Dyslexic tnemom
Yes! that's the part! i knew it wasnt just me! grrr... i really dont wanna spend that kinda money on all four discs when i only need ONE. >_<"

Final Fantasy Vi is a great game. I remember I beat it once (Killed Omega Weapon), and then started a low-level file. I think I'm level 6 on disc 2 :D
The only problem is that the game is a bit easy (in my opinion at least). I tried to level my characters to level 100 (because all the boss and monster follow your level, and they evolve faster then you. The exception is the Island Closest To Heaven and the Island Closest to Hell, because their monsters are always at level 100. no matter what your level is). Also the Aura power makes it too damn easy (sure their a bit harder to get, but once you get a couple, you can whack the whole game away).
The only thing hard to do is catch all the Guardian Forces (If you don't use a guide that is). But on the end, the only GF you'll use is Cereberus (Triple/Double on all party? Hurrah! \o/ )
By the way, a little trick on my own.
Every time you enter the critical situation and get a limit break with Zell, here's the way to make it really worth it:
Look at the available commands. One of them should be either "circle" "cross" or "Left" "Right". Use the one available. The next one will be the one that was not used (for example, if it started with "Left" "Right" the next attack will have the "circle" "cross" attack available). Use it. On the next screen, there will be the first attack (in the example before, the attack that would know be available would be "Left" "Right"). Type it. Repeat until the end of the timer.
What happens is that as you already know what is going to appear, you place your fingers at the right button, and as soon as the screen appears, you type those fast. In one second of the timer you should get at least 5 or 6 attacks. You take about a second to do your average attack (chose it from the screen, your brain processing the codes, your fingers reacting and typing the combination).
Now even if the one second attack is a more powerful one, using at least 5 or 6 of those weak attacks you will do as much or more damage than that powerful attack.
My record at using that trick is 0.03 seconds for the input of the codes (I think you only hear the sound of the windows, and start to see it pop up).
Now, if I managed to continue to make that time (I would go a little slower, normally 0.05 or 0.06) I would be able to make some 33 attacks in a second.
Let's say the powerful attack caused 9999 points of damage (perhaps a finisher move that stops the timer) and the weaker one caused about 2500 (I think mine used to do about 3500). 3500x33 = 115500 points of damage! :D In one second (finishers usually take more than that to be typed).
But that's use my average time of 0.05 seconds. That's about 20 weak attacks per second.
3500x20 = 70000 points of damage! In one second.
So my point is that if you use that plus a couple of Auras, you can whack the Omega Weapon to pieces (and let's not forget my 100 Haste Speed-Junction on Squall, plus Speed + 40% and Speed + 20% plus Auto-Haste (all that on Squall)... The man would get 3 or 4 attacks while the other only managed to get one :D [insert evil laught])

The amount of time I spent on Final Fantasy Vi is a mystery for me. Even if leveling up was fast, I still spent 100+ hours on it, and I wasn't especially slow in doing the main quest.
I guess the explanation is that I was addicted to the 'Triple Triad' card game, as I played against every opponent you can find in the game.
And getting all the cards is a long, long quest...

Indeed it is. But it feels good to finish the 'non-quests'.
and beating the omega @ level 100 is significantly harder than beating it at level 40 :P at level 40 squall's strength can still be at 255, while omega's hp isn't in the >million range, it's very nice beating him quickly before light pillar (or tri attack) decimates you.
My favourite fight is still the diablos fight at like level 8...
Ahh, FF8. It was my second Final Fantasy game after FF7 and I loved it. A lot of people say that FF8 didn't meet "expectations" after the smashing success of FF7, but I thought it did just that. Square tweaked the battle system a lot and I thought it was done rather well, with the exception of having to draw magic. I though the junction system was good, with one major drawback: once again, drawing magic. That basically meant I could not use any spells that my characters were using in the junction. If I did, it would have meant a decrease in stats. The one that really bothered me was Ultima, which I was using as an HP junction. I never used the spell because I couldn't afford to waste it.
FF8, IMO, also had one of the best stories. The past, the present, and the future. From Laguna to Squall. Everything was put together rather nicely. The characters were also unique and done well. To this day, Rinoa is still one of my favorite Final Fantasy characters.

Haha same for me. FF8 was my second Final Fantasy game after FF7. In many aspects I must say FF7 was better than FF8, such as Storylines, Character backgrounds, and the general gameplay.
Of course that is not to say that FF8 sucked, in my opinion it was still one of the best RPGs I've played. It's just that it paled in comparison with FF7, especially when I started on FF8 few days right after completing FF7 ;) Guess my mind was still full of the events of FF7, making it hard to enjoy FF8 fully.
There were some changes in FF8 which I found a little hard to accept, such as drawing of magic from enemies, essentially limiting the number of spells I can cast. In the beginning I found the idea to be rather interesting, until the the game introduced the idea of Junctioning Magic to stats. Diablo2189 is right to say that Junction really made me reluctant to cast powerful spells. To date I think I've casted Ultima no more than 3 times just to see the effects. Heck, the places available for drawing of Ultima were rare and recharges very rarely.
One thing I liked about FF8 are the summons. Lol I found it interesting to be able to summon creatures which were enemies, and having to fight some of them in a kind of a trial in order to use. My all-time favourite summons were Tonberry (cos he's kinda cute with the boink! attack haha) as well as Diablo's extremely cool summoning sequence. Eden's kind of a let down for an ultimate summon as his summoning sequence is rather confusing. I've no idea what the heck was going on when I summon him, and he's extremely hard to please -_-. Also, I thought Ragnarok, the airship was much cooler than Highwind too. How often do I get to pilot a space craft in the FF Universe? haha.
All in all, FF8 is still a very nice RPG to play, though one thing which puzzles me is why the fanbase for FF8 seems to be alot smaller than FF7's. Squall is cool in his own way too, I'd place him on the same scale as Cloud :)

FF8 are very good and i like the story very much, but the game was just to easy
everytime you gain level, the exp won't go up (still 1000), i don't know why ff8 have lv100, since it getting easily killed with lv5death..lv99 ftw!

kowweihaoHow often do I get to pilot a space craft in the FF Universe? haha.
Well... You can do that on VII... Well kinda (there that part in the story where Cid goes to space with the rocket, and there is a glitch that let's you move (like you enter it) the rocket that exists on the world map on Cid's town).

Definitely. The Ragnarok is probably the coolest airship in the FF universe thus far, but I guess it's kind of unfair to compare it to the Highwind when the technology in FF8 is so much more advanced. But still, the Ragnarok is red, looks cool, and has a cool name. Can't beat that =D

I enjoyed FF8, and it's my favorite one xD. I played FF7 after playing FF8, and I ended up still liking FF8 more than 7. I thought Squall's sword is probably the most badass sword ever, the Lionheart (Too bad you can't see it in CG). Ragnorok is a pretty nice ship. I don't know why some people said "Didn't meet expectations", they tried to change some things but I thought it was a great game. The only thing I would considering problems in the game is that the battles are way too easy! (If you know how to do the constant Limit Break XD lol).
Ah FF8. It's a great game, and like others said Triple Triad is really, really addictive. I've already spent like 50+ hours on my file and I'm still in the beginning of disk 3. =.=
The only thing that irked me was the Squall/Rinoa thing. Squall suddenly became all mushy over Rinoa when she fell into a coma, which was the one thing that really turned me off from the game. =/
