Not too much for me to say about this wallpaper that hasn't already been said: Dalarty has provided a descriptive walk through all the way from the concept idea, to its execution and ultimately its fruition. And you can really see how that careful planning paid off. But it just goes to show, good ideas take time---and a whole lot of patience!

Any other fans of azumanga daioh out there? if you haven't heard of it, you should at least try and read the first book. i read it, and got hooked. its hilarious. read it and you'll see. i don't want people to think i'm some kind of freak or anything, but its good enough, that when i have nothing better to do, i just pick them up and read. i've read 'em so many timjes, i don't have to read the words any more, i know wut their saying, and i just look at the drawing. agree? disagree? never read/watched? let me know what ya think.

What can I say? It's freaking awesome. It's hilarious, but the thing that makes it great is how normal it all is. Even though I'm a guy, it's easy to relate to the everday-ness of the characters. Plus, the occasional forays into surreality (the dreams) were done well.

It's one of my favorite series. I've rewatched it many times and read the manga. I also started reading Yotsuba. It's definitely one of those series that you can just pick up and enjoy, and it's a good way to laugh and feel better.

Too bad it seems impossible to convince some of my friends to watch it due to its lack of story.

I though the humor very childish... if you watch Honey & Clover or School Rumble, you will find what real comedy is made of... :D...

heheh... i'm not saying that these one are better than Azumanga, but i find the "subject" of the humor in H&C and SR more "mature"...

And Azumanga goes on a slow pace... each episode is very slowly progressing, and sometimes get boring... :(

Anyway, it's just my opinion... if you don't watched H&C and SR, give them a try... ;)

PS: i'm refering on the ANIME version of Azumanga Daioh, and not the MANGA, which i don't know...

bye

One thing to add, is the ending. i loved the series, but the end dissapointed me. you're enjoying everything, and laughing and stuff, but the whole thing just seems so short, and ends so quickly. i wish azuma could have made it longer, but then he would have had to go into college and stuff, and the group's kinda breaking up. and no, i haven't watched/read yotsuba, but i'll check it out, along with honey& clover and school rumble. thanks for the suggestions. i've heard of SR, but never looked into it, but i guess i could give it a try.

I think this is a very clever series, i loved it, i even own the dvd's. It is a very entertaining series, the comedy is funny, although a little childish, but i dont mind. I like all kinds of humor, like great teacher onizuka has some good humor, very entertaining.

i like how this show has every stereotype of a kind of person... and they all seem to be best friends, it just makes for a good plot.

I've watched about ten episodes of the anime so far. They're really funny. I think when I have time, I'll finish the rest of the series. It's by far one of the funniest anime I've ever watched.

The only thing that I don't like is the yellow cat. Papa, I believe? For some reason, I get scared when I see it... ^__^;;;

Its amazing how a little 4-pannal comic became a huge hit anime!

Azumanga (anime) is at least in my top 5, maybe even top 3. Every episode, every second, is so simple, but that's the beauty of this anime (and manga)

I think people like this anme because it has an certan appeal. It's not live or romance, it's not action, it's doesn't have any fanservice (...), it doesn't even have males (aside from window decoration)! Absolutely nothing happens in this anime.

But you know what? That's what makes Azumanga Diaoh so great.

Azumanga Daioh!!! *drools*
I love that show. It's one of my top 5 favorite animes of all time. I happen to be a fan of school-setting shows, and Azumanga Daioh was the one that got me hooked on them. The characters are great... many of the jokes are perfect (I have a couple of my favorite Ayumu Kasuga quotes memorized) The animation quality is so simple its hilarious... the repetition, the randomness, etc...

Azumanga Daioh is an irreplacable anime.

The Seinfeld of Anime.

One of its kind. The only of its kind. Can never get enough of Chiyo but my fav is Sakaki. Its just plain relaxing to watch this series. Maybe I'll re-watch it again. And I hope there would be a sequel.

At first I was thinking School Rumble will be similar, but I was wrong, its great too of course, but totally different genre.

Yah school rumble is completely different... i mean its a fine anime but the humor isn't really the same at all to azumanga daioh's. And is it just me or do most people who read the manga first before watching the series like the manga more?

On another note... woo lostsamurai said ayumu instead of osaka... that's crazy! :)

YzGurlie
(...) Absolutely nothing happens in this anime.

Yeah, that's exactly the words that i couldn't find! :D

So, i conclude that an anime where "nothing" happens, it's (argh, i don't wanna say that but, don't get me wrong, plese everybody) a "waste of time"... of course, continuing to YzGurlie post:

YzGurlie
But you know what? That's what makes Azumanga Diaoh so great.

okay, that's how it worked on most of you guys, and that's great, when you can watch an anime and simpley feel pleasure and enjoying watching it, but in my case, when i watch an anime, i'm kind of looking for something new, a great story, doesn't matter if is a romance, comedy, action, fantasy, whatever, but it has to be a great and "developing" story... in Azumanga Daioh, it "begins from nothing and ends with nothing"... hehehe... :D

Again, i repeat, i'm not saying that Azumanga was not a good anime, i'm just saying what was the meaning of the anime to me... ;-)

Bye!!

Azumanga Daioh is my favorite anime to date.
I have to laugh becuase I drogue my feet for the longest time as to wether or not I should check it out.

To Nojeira:
That is totally understandable. Azumanga Daioh is... well... Its an aquired taste, like an animated Signfield. The show has a slower pacing then most comedy animes and the humor isn’t as direct or obvious like some animes and overall there is no real direction its headed in.
The series is more laid back and subtle.
