Music for the soul, driving and twilight hours

This summer, I fell in love with someone. A few weeks after I realized I was more in love than I had ever been in my entire life, I was driving home from that persons house listening to wfuv 90.7 on the radio during the twilight program called "Echoes." A band by the name of Hammock was performing live on the show. The ethereal sound waves chimed peacefully through my speakers, making me feel a peacefulness that I had never experienced in my life. At 2:30 am, my car cruised down I-295 and my thoughts entered the stratosphere of my universe like a wisp from another world. Despite the fact that I was in a state of love, the music by Hammock was unlike any ambient music I had ever heard. I immediately called the soul which had captivated my heart and told them to immediately tune into the radio station. We hung up and the both of us, in our own time and space, listened to the band which to this day continues to serve as a soundtrack to nights lying next to each other in bed.
I sincerely recommend this band to anyone who's a lover of ambient music.
Good luck friends

OMG. Someone else has heard of Hammock. I've NEVER heard them on the radio, though.
Look into the genre "post-rock" for some similar (and dissimilar) bands...There's so many subdivisions like "math-rock" and "ambient" and "shoegaze" etc. They're somewhat similar but I'd got with Sigur Rós or Explosions in the Sky if you want something close-ish to Hammock. It's good night driving music.

Explosions in the Sky is a really good place to start i would also Recommend Mogwai, Beware of Safety i have plenty more but I'm too lazy to type them.
I
Ambient music to teeny little bits.
Massive Attack and Midival Pundtiz are also pretty good.

Man, I acquired a Hammock album and I dare say that the thread title really speaks to me. It's something special driving in the middle of the night. Thanks guys!
