The Toilet
So it came to my mind that whenever I leave the toilet seat up, my mum screams at me and tells me to leave it down. Ok. Why?? Isn't it easier for girls to put the seat down with the help of gravity than for boys to lift the it up against the force of gravity? I really don't get it. What difference does it make in leaving the toilet seat down?
My guess is that whenever you flush, the "mist" doesn't go everywhere. Its all contained in the toilet bowl lol. But that way I think it'll concentrate on the actual lid itself when you flush the toilet with the lid closed. So for the people that lean on the toilet when "dropping the kids off at the pool" it'll just spread on their backs. That's another issue too. Do people lean or don't lean? I personally don't lean.
Oh right, I've been wondering has anybody tried the toilet with the "cleaning your butt" function. I heard they were sold in japan. Apparently it sprays your but with water and dries it. LOL. Pretty awesome but I think i'd probably laugh myself off the toilet with all that ticklish water spray.

Well for me, I really don't care if my brother leaves the seat up or not.
I can always put it down myself.
My cousin have that toilet. I never actually used the function because I was afraid of breaking it, or I press something wrong.
All the buttons were in korean, which I can't read/understand well.

Interesting topic, lol
In my family everyone prefers to leave the toilet cover up, and when the females in my family finish their duty they always put it back up. Even if they didn't lift the seat back up when it came time for me to use it I don't really mind; I'd just lift it up myself. I've been taught as a kid not to urinate when the seat is down. I don't see why your mom gets so mad, maybe she has a bad back and doesn't want to lean over a bit to drop the cover? lol
This stuff of course gets all nulled out when I go out into public. I try to touch as little as I can when I'm using the restrooms in public. Afterwards I wash my hands thoroughly.

Well, I grew up in a house filled with women and I've come to the conclusion that women never look before they sit (at least when they're home), because every time I left the seat up one of them would fall in and there would be a scream. It even happened to a friend at her apartment recently.
Anyway, It's been programmed into me since I was a kid, so now kinda just do it without thinking most of the time, same with keeping the lid up.
Same as Longbow I also try to touch as little as I can in public restrooms, I even try to avoid directly touching the tap and the handle on the door when I'm leaving.

Umm... interesting. :D You know my dad actually told me to always put down the toilet seat because sewer rats could get inside the house through the toilet (whaaa??). That theory later evolved into alligators crawling out of the bowl. My father is a strange man...
Lol. Well, in my family, we always put the toilet seat back up because we don't want the water to hit it when we flush. I think. That's good for my dad I suppose. I think in your case, it may just be more courteous for you to put it back down. Like... so that the girls in the house don't have to put it down after you. But I don't see the big deal about putting down a toilet seat, so it may just be because your mom wants the toilet to look good in case anyone comes over, haha.
As far as leaving the seat up, I don't really care. Then again, my dad always puts the seat down, so.
It would probably annoy me if it was done all the time. . .I remember falling in the toilet when I was five or so.
As for the lid, I put it down when I flushed in my college dorm because water seriously got everywhere. Now I put it down out of habit.

I never really thought about it. Sometimes I leave it up. Sometimes I leave it down. There's no logic into how I do it. No one in my family ever complained either way. But I will probably catch hell for it when I get married. :)
Women in public restrooms should leave it up, since they have the tendency to pee all over it and not wipe it off like a bunch of gross pigs. It's amazing how many attractive, and well to do women do this. You'd think it would be just skanky kids, but it's not. Personally as long as there is no pee on it, I don't care what you do with the toilet seat. If everyone could just manage to stop peeing on the seats, or at least wipe them off if you're not coordinated enough to make it all inside, you'd never need to have a discussion like this. *I hate pee on toilet seats.*

The fact that toilets have seats on them in the first place, is the very reason the lid should be returned to the 'down' position. Women have to sit down every time they use the toilet... men on the other hand, do not... so we are the only ones responsible for lifting it in the first place... taking it out of its normal operational/functional condition... Just as the "normal" condition of a jar of peanut butter would be with the lid ON... when you make a Peanut Butter & Jelly sandwich... do you leave the lid off and put it away, expecting the next person to come along to replace it... if that's the condition they need it to be in to keep it fresh? No... you replace the lid. Besides it's just common courtesy to do it.

Well, how can i explain it, but in family, it really doesn't matter, but in common i hate it. Because i live in a house with 5 stocks, every stock with 20 rooms has only one kitchen and one toilet with 2 seats for girls, and 2 for boys, and what here usually happen is, boys never satisfy with their seats, they make them dirty, not even give a hand to clean it but smile and then next time they use our seats and never put them down ... so so disgusting, i can't stand it. !! I hate them very much but i have to endure to live for such a long time here before i graduate. Huhu...
Horrible topic lol
the toilet up = looks dirty. reminds us of dirtiness...WTF? MIST?
On a side note, I was told that if you leave the toilet up, your "good energy" will "escape" into the toilet and leave your house...
ALSO, if you have cats and they don't use the toilet...they might fall down...

The toilet seat is probably used to act as a barrier against water underneath and having the toilet seat down is courteous for women because it reduces the chances of falling into the toilet if your a little girl and have a small behind. So, small behind V.S big toilet.
Lols my mother tells that to me though i dont know personally why or whats the purpose of it lols. but my mother is weird, she want the toilet lid to be up. lols it doesnt make sense to me and i care less about the toilet. XD anyway my aunt had went to Japan and told us about that kind of toilet lolsss and its really bad when youve pressed the wrong button lols!

Down for the ladies or they will freak out. No one wants a freak out girl.
