When anime is ported to videogame... or viceversa :P
Yeah, a very common phenomena in the world, seeing VG based on our favorite animes... some of them are good as heck, and others... >_<
And in the other hand... videogames that are turned into animes (mostly hentai games, LoL).
Examples of good anime-based VG:
-Robotech Battlecry
-Macross: Oboete Imasuka
Examples of good VG-based animes:
-Fatal Fury
-Street Fighter 2: the animated movies
-Sakura Taisen
And the bad ones... <!--emo&:D--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='biggrin.gif' /><!--endemo--> I think I don't need to say anything, heh heh...

<i>The legend of Zelda</i> has some OVAs, back in... 1986? 87? Well, back then <!--emo&:P--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='tongue.gif' /><!--endemo--> They didn't actually <u>suck</u>, but it's not the best either <!--emo&:)--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

I most like Tsukihime for anime base on video game
and G generation Seed version for anime turned into video game

<b><u>Game to Anime:</u></b>
Kanon is a good crossover IMO. Cute characters and a storyline that tugs at your heartstrings.
Sakura Wars. Okay, some might dispute this but I find steam powered bulky mechas originally refreshing.
I don't play videogames (mainly because I don't have a console and I don't follow the japanese videogame scene) so I don't really know which anime is a crossover (other than Kanon and Kimi ga Nozomu Eien).

I love KNE, Tsukihime but when I watched it the first time, I didn't know it was based on H-game, I was really surprised to see a so good story in H-game
HM... more:
-Macross (Bandai / Sega / AM2 of CRI, Ps2): regular visuals (Bandai made them >_<) but gameplay and music are superb!
-All Supah Robot Taisen: Mazinger Z kicking EVA-1's BUTT is fun :bounce:
-Orphen (Ps2): first gen game of PS2... and so we can't expect a lot in graphics and stuff.

Oddly enough, ero games seem to make better anime series than regular games do in most cases. <!--emo&:lol:--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='laugh.gif' /><!--endemo--> Even Sakura Taisen as a game is technically part dating simulation...

Fighting games always seem to make pretty decent animes. Street Fighter and Fatal Fury come to mind. Come to think of it, wasn't Ranma 1/2 a fighting game years ago?
I haven't actually seen it, but from what I've heard from other people, the Sakura Wars Movie and the television series are both supposed to be really good.

This might be slightly off topic but, does anyone remember the Super Mario Brothers Super Show? I know its not anime, but its still animated and based on a video game. I remember watching The Legend of Zelda segment all the time and I thought it was really good
There was also an Earthworm Jim show, but I'm not sure what came first...probably the game. The show was pretty funny, from what I remember. <!--emo&:)--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='smile.gif' /><!--endemo-->

Can't say the same for the SFZ OVAs or the Art of Fighting movie... ugh..

We should have a Marvel VS Capcom 2 series. That'll be cool~ Or Capcom VS SNK even <!--emo&^_^--><img src='style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/happy.gif' border='0' style='vertical-align:middle' alt='happy.gif' /><!--endemo--> Yeah, there was an Earthworm Jim cartoon. I'm surprised no one mentioned the ultimate anime/video game combination. .hack// This was an anime, then game/ova, then manga, then anime... (order might be a little wrong and there was overlapping). I haven't gotten a change to watch everything through or play the games so I can't really comment, but they all flow into each other, with references to the other.
HM... as far as I know, the game was released first... but personally I prefer the anime. The game is not bad, but... it becomes monotone very quickly. Bandai tried to do an "offline" online game, but... c'mon, compare it with Phantasy Star Online and you may know what I mean.

To heart, tuskihime, Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien...lots of recent (with exception to to heart) romance anime series are being based on an hentai series. the surprising result is well-formulated storyline and nice animetion on most part. i think the conversion from game to anime is rather a great idea to a certain genre. i think the street fighter anime was one of themore prime example of games converted into anime (and it was good! well...i liked it '_' ) ragnorak and .hack//sign + .hack//dusk...how can we not forget? i dont think the concept works too well though, when an anime is directly based on the setting of the game because it makes the anime feel...i dont know, just not right (although im a huge fan of .hack// ova). i also vaguely remember final fantasy crystal chronicles being an anime that was loosely based on the anime, but i didn't think that was very good.
