What are your opinions and insights on Romance/Drama anime series?

Specifically for the ones I listed above, I think they all have great story lines and plots.
Romance/Drama series can come mixed in with Action, Fighting, and many other things. A title like Tsubasa Chronicle, for instance, has all of that.
Any way, for a series like Honey and Clover, I thought had a great story-line, especially in the second series. I thought the 2nd series was a lot better than the 1st, but they were both good.
What do you guys think about romance/drama anime series?

If its not too corny or angsty then i'm alright with it.
I love dramatic stories. Honey and Clover made it to my all time favorites list because it had a huge impact on me. Most are pretty slow moving, but once you get to watching them, they are full of substance. By the end you actually have something to think about. It's also a nice change of pace from the regular love comedies and action shows (not that those are bad).

Don't make it cliche and I like romance. Corny goes nice, as long as it's not all the time. I like the Sakura Li couple in Tsubasa. I like to know how the relationship starts tough, and I have not seen that yet in Tsubasa (did not finish watching).
Cagalli and Athrun are cute together, and I hope to see their relationship develop more as I keep watching Gundam Seed Destiny. How they began is weird, but still cute. Lacus Kira, I did not understand how they went from friends to lovers tough.
There is this couple that was not developped enoguh: Kari (Hikari) and T.K. from Digimon, or Davis. They did not give us a conclusion for that...

My favorite Paradise kiss and Nana
I tried watching Nana but not my cup of tea. its like every so often they would show em sleeping with guys or if they weren't doing that angsting over their relationships. too self-centred. yeah i know its about romance and blah blah but gradually the plot does wear thin you know. it still amazes me how its still running on long eps. but hey each to their own.

I adore these kinds of shows. They aren't romantised love stories as you often get in shoujo, but much more mature and realistic. Honey & Clover, Kare Kano, NANA and ParaKiss are some of my favourite manga/anime of all time, and each has had me crying at some point.
Romance is fine as long as the characters are believable and the story moves along at a relatively fast pace... because, quoting myself,
and if the pacing is slow, by the time they get to the good stuff I'm either asleep or watching something else.
So far, the only shoujo anime I will admit to watching (so fine; I lied, I have watched shoujo, don't rub it in) is NANA, and it's fine.
@cosmicatoms
I believe Nana is rated 'mature'. If it's not your taste, then don't watch it. It's not unusual to find those kind of scenes (unfortunately) in anime nowadays, especially in Ai Yazawa's work.
@everyone else
no offense meant to A.Yazawa fans.
meif the characters are perfect, the story will stink

I like romance anime but the sad fact that most of the romance animes also is harem animes and I hate it. And often the romance is destroyed when they make an anime of a really good romance manga for exampe Tsubasa Chronicle the manga is wonderful but the anime just suck. Another example is Fruit Basket where they did the anime so early that the romance in the story barely got a chance to show up.
What I can´t figure out with all those so called "romance" animes is why it always have to be one boy and like ten girls and all of the girls loves the boy and they fight over him. And that´s supposed to be romance.
I love the kind of romace anime where there is one girl and one boy that meets and they fall in love.
The best romance anime and manga must be Saikano since it is so beautiful.

I really love romance/drama animes, the drama between the characters and how the plot thickens just gets to me. These kinds of animes are up there with mecha/action animes. :] I really like romance animes but, comedy/romance animes just, sometimes aren't that funny and the main couple is usually apparent in the beginning of the series and the rest of the anime is just about random comedy, not really much of a story really. Yes, some are extremely funny and I'll watch it but, I wouldn't want to watch anything without a solid story. I really don't like animes that have a nerdy guy who goes with a pretty/popular girl or a normal girl goes with the most handsome/smartest boy in the school, those get kinda old and bores me. >.> But, this is just my little opnion. :]]
Harem type anime really needs to die.
I like watching romance animes, but the thing i dislike is the fact that some of the time the characters seem angsty and a few of the time they act out of their character, like a really shy girl asks out the bad boy in school in front of everyone and im like "Wow, wtf?...shy much?"

Yes, harem should die- but I don't think it will, as long as there is fanservice.
Romance animes today usually include comedy, a center of the universe and a bunch of girls who have nothing better to do... *sigh*

Acatually I'm opened to all kinds of anime and I think every genre of anime has its specialties. If it's about Drama and romance anime like Honey and Clover I'd say I like that anime coz there's drama, romance and comedy. I like anime with these combination
It's good that people are realising the differences between an actual dramatic romance anime and the recent overload of ero-game/harem romance anime. I really don't mind the odd anime of the latter group, but ever since watching Honey & Clover (still watching actually :) ) and even Nodame Cantabile, I've come to appreciate the complexities of these anime compared to the other flash-bang types. There were at times when I watched a few episodes at a time of H&C and thought to myself, "I can really see this happening in a Jdrama, and even possibly real life!" This is the kind of show that tugs on heartstrings and deserves the praise that everyone is giving at the moment. It's also such a relaxing feel to kick back and watch H&C, thus the reason I have dragged on my viewing of this for a long time. Initially I did think it dragged on, but then that's the charm of it as well - since this built depth in the characters. 'Nuff said! :p
