Console or PC?

Actually all the consoles and the PC have advantages and disadvantages (I'm actually a PC Gamer)... all console fanboys, deal with me... heh, kidding aside it strictly depends on YOU (I was actually talking to my friend about this a few days ago). It depends on your preference. BTW The following are obviously MY opinions: Are you a techie? Go for a PC you can mod, configure, program, and learn from. Xbox Loyalist? Then buy a 360 and enjoy with others online! PS3 Worshipper? Then enjoy Resistance 2! Arcade buff? Nintendo is the way for you! etc. Kidding aside, I actually strongly believe in all the consoles' and PC's capabilities. We really don't have to worship a certain console to get our kicks... ex: If EVERYONE forgot about the consoles and moved to PC there wouldn't be variety! and no more rampant fanboyism! BUT expect lot of LAG from people busting into servers who want to play on the same console and game. It keeps on going and going... Maybe life is supposed to be like this... Imagine a world without trolls, fanboys, and flamers... It would make the rest of us pretty indecent right? lol Anyways it's because of marketing's view on the matter is the PC suffering from the lack of games. And that's my opinion...

If it's just gaming like final fantasy, metal gear and the like just go with consoles.
if it's mmorpg you want then pc.

I prefer a PC because I used to change everything and only one console to play, so the best thing there is a PC and that is the future

Well, Actually the PC has the disadvantage of lag (depending on your internet connection and the programs run in the background of your PC wherein compared to consoles which run only the game and necessary firmware to run), necessity of hardware upgrades (Depending on how tech savvy you are it's going to cost you if you know little if not nothing about computers) etc. (Of course the PC is more flexible, has cheaper games, the "genuine" PC experience; some people prefer to play certain games compared to consoles, etc.) But the consoles are not spared from problems either. Troubleshooting is HELL ON EARTH unless you actually have hardware experience (Usually PC related), Updating is usually LONGER, etc. (Of course the ability to play with others without the requirement of another unit is a BIG difference compared to the PC etc.) Still, this is just my opinion... (Comes from a former Gameboy Follower and PC Fanatic) Heh.

Well an advantage of a console is you won't get any viruses or spyworms and stuff.
and you don't need an internet connection.

Hrm... Actually today... internet connection is a necessity in our society it's required in school, work, etc... Lol trust me I went without it for just a while and it was hell... both console and pc can function with and without internet connection but today, multiplayer is a BIG factor in gaming... about the viruses and spy worms though... Yeah protection against those take a toll on most PC's performance while no one programmed those for consoles yet... It's unless someone finds out how to program "Virus/Malware/Adware/Trojan/Spyware/etc Online Games" I'm pretty sure consoles are safe... (Coming from a guy who DBANed his PC's hardrive 1 week straight ) I was really paranoid about viruses okay! I don't need help! lol
Well you don't really have to play online games in a console, especially rpgs.
I didn't really play multiplayer games,just 1 player games.

That's very true... WoW is only on the PC... and I'm guessing no one would enjoy grinding in front of a 32 inch LCD they'd be rather playing Halo 3 on... Still Final Fantasy still sells like copies of Harry Potter on release dates... There are specifics in choosing a console and games that come with it... I was talking to my friend about this too... He said he didn't care at all... heh... He build a pretty powerful PC with his old spare parts and important new ones and said he'll be sticking to his PC for a long time... the feeling of it changes a lot too... people that prefer console games usually have friends over... go online a lot... or just play single player... to an extent... (My other friend just enjoyed single player then moved to online... he never turned back...) While PC gamers are usually differently assorted... Kids who play in their computer lab at lunch, co-workers who DEFCON the day away, WoW addicts of all ages, and single and multiplayer buffs. Its magical isn't it?
What's defcon? and you have to pay to play games like wow right?

DEFCON is a 2D strategy game... imagine command and conquer except on a flat tactical map... only with nukes as weapons aircraft bases, with a fleet of battle ships, aircraft carriers, and subs in your hands and its sort of "realistic" is a sense, Heh, I GOT OWNED first time playing heh, it's free but only 1 vs 1 games if you pay you get a lot more... Anyways... a lot of games need payment but others are also free... actually there are MMORPGs for the PS2 and payment is required though... Fantasy Star I think...and FF 7 or something... Sorry not such a PS gamer heh...
FF11 is an online game.
hey, have you played the dreamcast(sega's console)? if you do then I'll make a thread for it.

We all can relate to the fact that PCs and Consoles have their own advantages. However the ultimate gaming system would have to be the PC (If your loaded with cash or have a lot of time on your hands). I may sound contradictory when I say I'm a console gamer, but you have to consider the fact that I (like many other middle class asian kids) don't really have a lot of time or money. Now lets consider the possibility of have both the elements of money and time. One would be able to build the ultimate gameing system themselves and surpass any graphics or gameplay on any other console systems. For this PC (theoretically) has the abiltiy to somehow play all the current gen system games with (Perfect) emulators and with the advantage of haveing the ability to hook up both mouse/keyboard and console controllers. Thus this Pc is essientially a console and a PC, but more or less a PC that surpass all.

The platforms are really built to satisfy different crowds. Consoles are more linear though, in that you can't really upgrade them, and if a company wants to go in a new direction, the hardware they put into it may not be able to do what they need to do. There were games on the Gamecube that couldn't be run on the Xbox or PS2. Not because 'HEY, IT SHOWS THE CUBE HAS BETTER SPECS', but because of the way the hardware was designed, meaning the game was made for it in the sense that it was able to make use of the hardwear, which just didn't exist in the other systems.
With a PC, it's different. You can upgrade it, customise it. A computer from 1990 could be made into something brand new just by upgrading it. A console from 1990 wouldn't be able to play anything but games made for it.
I game on both, and I play most genres of games. For FPS games, I tend to prefer a PC, mostly because the mouse gives me, what I feel to be better accuracy and reflex, while at the same time, I prefer to play fighting games on consoles (well no, I prefer the Arcade for those, but consoles are the next best). Sports games, I'll play on consoles, RPGs, well, it depends on which one, but typically handhelds or consoles. Sim games handle better on PCs, and RTS games, no matter what one you're talking about, just belong on PCs.
Of course that's just me
Consoles, handhelds, and PCs suit different crowds. It's pretty much that what you use to game says alot about you and your interests and/or personality. But, regardless of whatever we are all using to play the games, it's just important that we play games.
