Console or PC?
Of course consoles are better for gaming!
They were built for this sole purpose, all the technology, effort, time and money spent on them was directed towards gaming function, unlike the PC, who was made to be an overall useful machine. Of course I'm not looking down at the PC capabilities of having equally, or even better games, but the keyboard and mouse will never beat an joystick(with the exception of FPS) in any genre of gaming.
And just like Soui said, an console will never be not enough to play an game, if a game is designed to run on that console, it will, period! Also, the current generation of consoles makes it much more easier to play online than before, comparing itself to PC online gaming.
In terms of gaming, consoles don't lose at anything to a PC!

Over the years, the video game console system has been with us, since its early beginnings where we were moving a paddle across a screen to move a white little ball back and forth in a little and clas
sic game that we call 'Pong'. Then, with the advent of other games such as 'Donkey Kong', 'Pac Man', and countless others, it has proven that the demand was setting the consumer public on fire, and it was a pretty sure bet that the console would be with us for quite a long time.
But, with all of the hype that comes from companies that create games and gaming systems, such as Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft, the next big question is...whatever happened to a good old-fashioned game on the PC? Through the years, personal computers have received a bad reputation in the gaming world simply because there are those that feel that playing games on a computer requires complicated keystrokes, wonton moving of the mouse and so forth, and in the current gaming market, PC games are coming out later, fewer, and only the titles that have a popular following on most occassions (*ie the 'Hitman' games, 'Command and Conquer', etc.). But, even with all of that being taken into consideration, the PC by far still has a strong following, even if it is by those whom I term as 'game purists', who actually allow the technology that is currently available to them be able to work for them.

Duly pointed, dontbugme.
However, in this thread, we are not saying that PC are not fit for gaming or that the PC should not have it's own version of some games. We are only pointing out how different the commodity for games are, between consoles and PC.
Since on a console, you don't have to install and configure anything, all that you need is the CD of the game, to be able to play it, saving you the trouble of possible errors of installation or running, with also the joystick who was made just for that!
We all know that an multifunctional printer will broken more easily than a simple one . . .

I prefer playing on console since
my favourite JRPGs and some Brawlers and some horror games(back in ps2 days) mostly come out on consoles and there's really awesome exclusive to play on consoles which wouldn't be coming out for PC.
I usually play adventure games on PC though.I think the only big PC exclusives for now are diablo 3 and starcraft 2 which are pretty far away from being released.Even the most hyped RTS Halo wars is coming out on xbox360 console.

I just like Consoles better because the controls are more comfortable.
I am both PC and Console. Play on both media does not bother me as long as the game is good.
As against if I have to admit a difference, it would games in networks.
I can not hang at all to play on internet on a console, by against PC no problem.

This is a very controversial subject so allow me to share my views and ideas. Consoles and PCs are no different from each other. PS3, Xbox 360 are in fact specialized pcs. They are modified computers made to be played on a tv. Why is there a difference between them?
Consoles are made for ease of use. They were created with home entertainment in mind. Even more the PS3 and Xbox 360 have been created to take advantage of the HD tvs that have taken over the market on the past month. Consoles have the same hardware so developers can focus on that specific hardware without worrying what bugs might form on different hardware.
Console games don't require installation and are run straight from the DVD or Bluray. This allows renting and lending to friends possible. PC games use serial codes and one time installs. It is impossible to rent or lend to a friend without invalidating your own serial code. The installation part seems to be picking up anyway on the PS3. The xbox 360 allows you to install the game to hard drive to reduce load times.
Because of the home entertainment environment, consoles are more comfortable and relaxing to play. You boot up the console and play right from your couch using a wireless controller. Because of the media capabilities you can do any sort of media activity from watching movies to playing videogames. They are made to work with HD displays and Surround sound.
But all of you must remember that consoles are still PCs. You can install linux on the PS3. It is the use it is built for that makes it different. You don't need to worry about viruses, programs, hardware requirements, etc. while you play. Also the life cycles of this consoles is long so developers have enough time to master the hardware. In PC the hardware is changing so fast that the developers must take in mind everything. I have Fallout 3 both on PC and 360. Even though the PC version is superior thanks to mods and both have achievements I still play the 360 version more. That is because I can play it from my couch or bed without pulling around a keyboard and mouse. I have two computers. My laptop runs fallout 3 fine but desktop has graphics card issues with the game.
To finish things up. The last thing that has degraded pc gaming is piracy. Because the computer is the hacker's domain it is easy for them to make any game playable. Virtually any game is playable with a crack or serial on the pc. Because of that developers are doubtful to make videogames on pc which would just be pirated. Xbox 360 is extremely regulated by Microsoft with modded 360's banned and PS3's blurays or itself are still impossible to hack.
For computers you have to upgrade them very oftenly if you want to keep playing new games while in console you can spend up to 6 years being able to buy new games.
Some videogames are meant for each platform as someone else pointed out. A mmorpg that requires a lot of keyboard commands won't work on consoles. A RTS will be complicated on console. A RPG or some genres are more easier played on consoles. Etc. Etc. Wii games only would work well on the Wii with its innovation.
Conclusion. You need a computer and a console to get the ultimate gaming experience. You will always be missing something if you don't have both.

PC gaming is not dying at all. There are still plenty of great PC games coming out. The problem with PC games is that it's mostly only three genres: FPS, RTS, and MMO. I use my PC for that and my Wii for everything else. Games that are on both PC and consoles are always better on the PC. You get better graphics, much better controls, mods, and a whole bunch of little things put together to make the experience so much better. I can't justify getting an Xbox 360 because there's only like five games I'd want to play on it because most of its games are on the PC and are better on the PC. Plus, I can't play any of the Xbox exclusive shooters because they use crappy dual analogs rather than keyboard and mouse.
The Wii is a great gaming console because it has tons of games that aren't on PC and wouldn't necessarily be better on PC. The Wii is also great for local multiplayer which is very hard to do on the PC.

@ Gizel You clearly point out the good things about pc. Shooters are better played on PCs. Mods are the renaissance of PC gaming. Weren't it for the mods I wouldn't have bought Fallout 3 for PC. Also I can't play on PC well because I don't have the required hardware and I don't have the kind of money right now to go improve the parts of my computer and I've never tried swapping the parts myself. Until I get a job I really have no option but to play games on consoles. I do consider Fallout 3 for PC the superior version but not if the computer doesn't has the recommended hardware or not a compatible video card like in my case.
@uzmi Emulators are a horrible comparison. I prefer 10 times playing a game on its console than using unstable emulators that do nothing but crash. Just leave the emulators be and play the PC games. Sure you can play fine on super nintendo or nintendo 64 emulators but Playstation 2 or Xbox emulators are horrible. You will never even see a emulator for PS3 or 360 nor the wii.

For me both have there strengths. RTS should really only be played on the pc tryign to addapt it to the console ussually end in failure. One exeption i've found is halo wars. maily cause it was designed for the console so the controls work smoothly. But as for the 360 version of red alert 3 absoulute failure.
but as for the console i 've used it to play fps and racing games for so long that i kinda give those genres up to the consoles. but i do agree that pc's are better suited to those games in terms of power. also for some reason un beknownst to me when a cosole game transitions to the pc it usually works better. first example off the top of my head is halo. the first one i think worked better and was alot easier to play on the pc then it ever was on the console.
but i have to agree with what golden ape said on the first page is that when you have a console and you buy a game for it then you know its going to work. so for lazy people i guess console gaming is the way to go.

Console. I don't own a PC anyway, but that's beside the point: MMORPG's don't appeal to me.
The only PC game I want to play is Spore, but it's not enough. I prefer consoles because of the controllers, I know you can get stuff like this for a computer but still. I also prefer consoles because I'm quite a fan of handheld, and mainly: I prefer the games.
As I said earlier, the only one that really appeals to me is Spore.

Well, i like the console's more.
Just because you don't have to update them every once in a while.
When I buy a game, I just know my xbox 360 will run it.
If you have a pc, and you want to keep playing the newest games you need to keep updating youre PC and that, costs a lot of money.
Also, I'm not really good when i come's to playing pc games, I just can't get allong with my mouse and keyboard.
A controller is so much easier...
Also, now a days, there are a lot more fun games to play on the console, like Gears of War 2, Halo 3 etc...

I like the fact that I can just turn on my xbox and lay a few games without having to boot up my PC, especially since the console is hooked up to a largish TV and is next to a kitchen. There are some games though that I would never play on a console, like strategy and first-person shooter games. Granted, it's sometimes a hassle to install and setup, especially if you buy newer games that your PC just can't really handle, but in the end nothing beats a mouse + keyboard combo.
