Console or PC?
Both have their place, but I definitely lean towards PC.
Unless you simply can't afford a gaming PC, I don't understand anyone trying to play shooting games on a console. I've tried Call of Duty 4 and the Orange Box on both console and PC and there is absolutely no question- the mouse and keyboard is vastly superior to trying to aim with a controller.
The PC also is host to games to complicated to be played on a console. While valiant efforts have been made to release MMORPGs and RTS games to the console I think it's safe to say that Starcraft just wouldn't be the same with a controller.
On the flip side, the console has a major advantage in that it is made to be played in a public place and on your new big HD TV. While you can play something like Rockband on your PC, it really doesn't have the same effect as inviting some friends over and jamming out in the livingroom in front of a plasma with the sound system going.
In addition, there's no worry with console games. I rarely have installation problems but I remember bitterly my attempt to install Tomb Raider Underworld on my PC. Complete installs, uninstalls, driver updates and DirectX updates over the course of a couple hours not only left my game launch excitement drowned but also incredibly frustrated. These are things you simply don't have to deal with on the console side.
Also, some games just feel better to play on one format above and beyond the other. I could probably figure out a way to play Mega Man 9 on my PC, but it really feels better as a console game. Likewise, I could play World of Goo on a console but it really just feels like a PC game.

I would say it depends on the game as to whether I prefer the PC vs. a paticular console. Good example would be Portal. I have an xbox 360, but I picked up the PC version since you have the option to create or install custom levels made by other players.
So long as I enjoy the game, in the end, I don't really care.

PC has better graphics and better processing power since the PC has been around longer and has awesome titles like starcraft, warhammer, civilization. but PC is more RTS. consoles are more RPG based. so go for both id say
A console is not better then a PC due to the fact the hardware for a PC is always 1 step ahead of a console and therefore more powerful. The reason it is better to buy a console is the fact that they cost alot less because they are just being used for one thing where as a pc is running many things at once.

You know I think it really depends on the game like First person shooters for example. On a console your limited in the reaction time and control of your shooter while on the PC you get to control your shooter much much better of course this is just a opinion though I think many people will agree that this is true, cause in the PC you get to control the angle at which you shoot much better because of the mouse on the consoles you have to do some kinda simulatenous thing with the joystick and keypad which gets annoying as a first person shooter. But yea RPGs tend to be better on the consoles because well the computer just doesn't give that epic storyline feeling that you get from PC's but yea this again is just my opinion.

I prefer consoles because a lot of the great games are on them, and they are more powerful than the normal, average computer in a gaming sense. I know you can upgrade your computer very high, but that tends to cost a lot of money and most of the games are on the consoles anyways. So, for me there is no point in trying to start gaming on the PC since I've been using consoles since the early 90's.

Originally games came out for computer pc's
in the old days Windows was still the core of how games started out Amstrad pc or the Amiga computer either way these weren't consoles they were computers with keyboard and optional joysticks to play games, over time they developed home console through basic games like pong and packman I'm not sure if the arcade came out before home console or after however, pc is more likely to crash on you than a home console when running games unless your an expert at using pc configuration and the pc title has all fixes and patches, the major differences is keyboard and mouse vs home console pads, having them on the home console is just plug and play no need to boot an operating system.
Its really down to software at the end of the day, and how you want to play games with what hardware etc.. there are many factors to consider when deciding and these have been stated in previous posts so i wont go into them again. For games I prefer home consoles personally since my pc is just too expensive to upgrade or buy new one. that and I usually prefer pads for certain games.

Uhh...consoles and PCs are essentially the same thing. They just operate with different software. What's the difference between a PC with a PSX emulator and an actual PSX?
Nothing. Except one probably has much much stronger hardware.

CONSOLE or PC? DOES ANYONE WANT THE BETTER? IS THERE A BETTER OF THE TWO?
Today's consoles are better than ever. Having built in hard drives, they are competing with PCs for the minds of gamers. You can now access videos (movies), music, and games all from your game system. You can even get a physically demanding work out through interactive consoles. The games themselves are mostly exclusive for the consoles, big hit titles for example: HALO 3, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Metal Gear Solid 4, Grand Theft Auto 4, Burnout Paradise, Guitar Hero and Rock Band just to name a few. These awesome games define the consoles they are designed for, and give life to its gamers. The core game and its story is one thing, but now we have online multi-player through consoles. With all of this in the palm of your hands why go out and waste your lettuce on a crazy expensive PC, because after all, what more can you do with a video game? I mean, consoles have better graphics now anyways; right?
The console gamer is tired of hearing the egos of PC enthusiasts. Because the PC offers nothing more for us............... or does it? Let's ACTUALLY see.
You turn on your console, you turn on the computer.
You start the game (single player on the main story mode)
You beat it and unlock new player models and weapons etc...
Play it again.
Now you start playing online multi-player. Amazing gaming for weeks, months...
You also have LAN matches. MUCH FUN.
Now you... ummm... uh? You.. uh?
Buy the next game right, and repeat the process.
Now you begin thinking to your console infested self "PC doesn't hold a candle to THIS"........MEANWHILE.........
By this time, all across the world and maybe even next door, PC gamers have cycled through this very same process, and they've added several. WHAT THE ?
What could PCs possibly be doing beyond that which the consoles were performing?
Is this "THING" that PC gamers are doing even fun, what the heck could it even be?
Well let's ACTUALLY TRY playing a classic PC game. NAME ONE, ok
FIRST- There's -Knights of the Old Republic- yeah, you may have played it on a particular X themed console with it's awesome story. BUT it also was available for the PC in which you were able to edit your feats (stats) and even play as any character model in the game that you could imagine, not to mention you can now play it in WIDE SCREEN for the PC.
SECOND-[prepare yourself] The entire HALF-LIFE series, HL2 is in the Orange Box for two competing consoles, but it was first for the PC, which can do a "little" bit more.
After playing the game on PC, you may want to get some spectacular SCREEN SHOTS
from any scene in the game, from any angle, and on top of that, with no hud or weapon on the screen for the most amazing hi resolution wallpapers which cannot be found ANYWHERE on the net for your hi res monitor. Oh, I forgot one thing. GARRY'S MOD. What the crap is GARRY'S MOD? It's a ten dollar for life purchase that no console EXCLUSIVE gamer will ever know of. It is a download from the creators of the Orange Box that will require just ten dollars from your back pocket. Garry's Mod in a nutshell, is a program that utilizes the information from your existing Half-Life 2, Episode 1 and 2, Counter Strike, Team Fortress and Portal games from your computer. You don't have to have all of these, you just need the ones you want to be able to play VIA GARRY'S MOD. When in G-MOD you can either play a G-MOD map or play through ANY, yes ANY, STEAM (the makers of the Orange BOX) game. While in the map or game at which you start at any level of your choosing, you can edit the map or level by moving characters and objects around, this is light years ahead of the HALO 3 editing, you also can spawn ANYTHING from the games and MORE (possible thanks to g-mod) spawn crates, barrels, explosives, player models (rag doll and NPC), structures like cranes, walls and fences, vehicles, make things invisible, set things on fire, attach infinite balloons to ANYTHING and watch it float up into the sky (you can actually change the balloons lifting capabilities)............
I have NOT EVEN begun to explain this amazing program (game if you will).
AND this is just from the core program (GARRY'S MOD). You want MORE?
Go on <garrysmod.org/downloads/> and download from THOUSANDS of maps, models , weapons, vehicles etc............ check it out if you want to know why PC gamers have an "ego" issue.
I'm tired of rattling on and I know you are too, so do all of your console selves a favor and at least KNOW what the PC can do and why its gamers are pointing their fingers. And NO, I don't hate or even dislike consoles, I'm just tired of the ignorance of console exclusive gamers that don't know anything about the PC gaming world.
Oh, and by the way, if you thought the PS3 or even the 360 pushes computer's graphic capabilities around then I've got some info for you: if you see ANY inconsistencies with your console graphics, well, your stuck with it. If I see anything that need tweaking on my computer I just go into the NVIDIA properties and over ride the games graphics so that I get an even better and smoother picture in my game experience, and right now that's without any loss of FPS. That makes way for the most awesome screenshots that aren't found on the internet.
My examples are only a drop in the bucket, so go out and TRY IT, and you don't have to break the bank. The trick is not buying a PC from the store but from the net.

I think that the computer is a better for games then a console, because the technology of tthe computer is better then the technology of consoles (Crysis is a godd example for what i mean) and games can get modified easier so the "lifetime" of a game is larger. But because of the variation of hardware-combinations its more difficult for the developers to make their games "run-able" on every system so it´s cheaper to make games for consoles.

Generally speaking, I think a PC is better than a console.
Most gaming computers are build with better components and can run better than a console.
The mouse+keyboard combination definitely owns the x360 or PS3 controller in terms of RTS and FPS.
And PC Multiplayer is also better with most new releases having dedicated server for low-latency multiplayer which is generally free.

PC because when you game on a PC and then try to game on a console it is not easy, there are many games for consoles that have fps problems and if you play only consoles you would not notice this but if you are a PC gamer then its obvious, the best example is GRAW, it has horrible horrible FPS and now consoles are dragging down PC games, they are, alot of the PC games nowadays are games made for consoles and cheaply pushed over to PC with only a few options that PC's can use, some don't even have AA/AF settings, and with graphics cards as powerful as they are its pretty ridiculous, you can max any console port pretty much with a HD3670/8600GTS, everynow and then you will see a horrible port though with insane system requirements, the only thing i can give consoles a break on is their cpu's they are pretty powerful, probably the equivalent for a older core2extreme for the ps3 and a 2ghz c2d for the xbox in comparison to those PC cpu's, but if the gpu can't handle whats on the screen then it dosen't matter how powerful the cpu is.
I hate to control characters on keyboards, so I would definitely say consoles for most of the time. I remember having played on PC some game with keyboard,... hell that was so damn hard if you don't get used to it...
Also in counterstrike... man it is so awfully unusual to play with the keyboard I gotta think too much about what is the keyboard combination and so forth... and bam I'm dead.
Console can be played on a TV Screen and with the invention of the Nintendo Wii even families can enjoy a variety of Exercising games...
