I find that to be a big turn on to find a girl that can play video games especially if she can give me a run for my money. So to the girls out there that play video games encourage your lady friends to play as well!!!
Uhmm I'm a girl too, I don't play online games (not yet xD) but actually I like games a lot, shooters or third person games and some others. I said games if for all people who likes, games for all the ages and genders, and.. nothing more to say o_o
so people, don't blame girls who likes games xD we have the control too! xD

Sometimes, boys can be clueless when it involves girls playing video games.

I'm a girl and I play video games online. Thats the only way I really like to play because when you interact with others it's a lot less predictable.
But it's very interesting when someone asks you out just because you have a girl character. I just want to say note to all guys who do that. Just because it's a girl character doesnt mean it's always going to be a girl....because sometimes it isnt XD

Hmm...good point.
i remember one time, as a bit of a social experiment (and cause my buddies and I were bored), we decided to go on a few games (including rock band, guitar hero, and halo) with only female avatars/characters. surprisingly, when the female character (us) began to totally kick ass at the game, every guy in the match would instantly start either
bragging incessantly
or
asking for personal contact info
i expect the outcome. Afterwards, my friend (who has a deep voice) would come onto the microphone saying "You know im a guy right?". the reaction from that was really funny. in other words, im not saying every guy is like that, but there are some guys who are out there just to enjoy a good game. and trust me...i have had my ass kicked by a girl plenty of times at Gears of War 2

:D i have a girl frind she likes to play online games and shooter games but she doesn t play well xD
Girls playing video games is awesome period. I want to date a gamer chick.
Well, a fairly small percentage of guys harass girls this way, but given that guys online outnumber girls generally and one of these guys can harass dozens of girls easily, the problem gets blown out of proportion.
I've also run into girls who loved this sort of attention and encouraged it, though. The girls that know how to handle this sort of thing and play for the sake of the game are awesome. =)
Here's a tip: if you simply want to play the game without being harassed and you have the choice, play as a male character in the game and you'll receive very little harassment. One of my buddies got his sister to play World of Warcraft and she was shocked by how much harassment she got right off the bat, so she started over as a male character and has been having a blast since. ;)

I really love to play games, and I play since early 90's. Well, as I experienced, a girl in a gamer community gets: GIMME A PHOTO ARE you HOT? IF YOU DONT POST A PHOTO YOURE A FAKE DO you HAVE MYSPACE BLOG TWITTER ADD ME AT MSN *WINKS*
And that's really...annoying...

If somebody online asked me such a question, I would PK their gluteus maximus. Then, I would report them for harassment.
I'm a gamer girl and very proud of it. Beat my brother at killing Ruby Weapon in Final Fantasy VII and he totally freaked, yelled and said I cheated (I'm younger than him and hadn't played the game as long as he did). Then he apologized knowing I couldn't have cheated. Men can be so childish when it comes to things like this. About harassment in Online games, well, that happens in person, too. I was playing in an Arcade a time ago and some dude asked me if he could join me (I was playing Mortal Kombat II). I beat him in the third round. Then he said "You're a violent chick, I like you. I can show you moves. Gimme your number?" Ughh, pathetic way to get a girl's number.
The girls are very good in the videos games, in my case, with my sister we played the BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger and leaves me " crying " in seconds, I have seen many girls who are very good in PES 2009 and the RPG, my mother also plays (something slow but plays XD).

I don't think there is anything wrong with girls playing video game (I am a girl, although I don't play video game that much). Many of my friends (who are girl) play video game a lot.
I'm a chick, but I usually choose a male character.
But I'm one of those girls who will kick your butt if you ask me for information like that.
So I guess you can say I don't really have that problem.
Now my best friend on the other hand...
She unfortunately gets it all the time.
So yes.
It really does make male gamers look bad.
No offense to any male gamers, of course.
