I play video games to have fun and not to show off how great i am, like many other guys...

I tend to stick to the console-type games. But I too feel bad about the amount of pick-up-line crap. That occurs out there. Seriously, the girls are here to play the game,not get hit on. That's what mySpace and FaceBook are for.
I feel sorry for any girl that gets mixed up with those guys.

I tend to stay away from all that online stuff. There just seems to be too much connection hassle, dependability on others for game play, and the usual bulls*** that everyone has basically already mentioned in previous posts.

But man oh man do i know how skillful some of these girls can be. I love to watch girls just own up on complete pro's, and listen to the pro's cry. They tend to take it so bad too BECAUSE they think men should be better then girls at video games, and so they have no one to blame but themselves.
If ya just accept the whole "girls can rock, boys may not" philosophy when playing games, you will probably have twice as much fun and enjoyment playing with them then imagining if the girl is hot or not, and will send you their picture.

All those guys who scare girls away from gaming with stupid remarks and hit-on lines, should go die an AI/NPC death and leave us true gamers alone.

I am a gamer guy but i know alot of girls who play video games. ( Most of them I know in real life) and they kick my ass in every game except smash. I own at they game

I've already seen many of them. Nowdays, it's easy to find girls playing video games, either online games or offline games. In fact, there's a tournament for girl-gamers, much like WCG, but exclusively for girls. I oftenly ask my girl friends(not girlfriend ^^) and they say it's a way of relaxing. Maybe the main difference between boy gamers and girl gamers is on their passion on playing it. Usually, girls play games just for fun, but boys usually play games for their hobby and to be a good gamer. ^^

Well sywex, I think I read a statistic somewhere that said the EVE Online population was 95% male and 5% female. I'm guessing at least 90% of the female population are actually males. Maplestory is probably way different, along with other cute mmorpg games. But it's safe to bet guys still play more than ladies. -dreams of the female gaming revolution in 2012-

Ah, that is true, considering that I myself(male) played a female character in MapleStory and other MMORPGs I played. The benefit of being a female in game is that you can find more people are willing to help you than if you are a male. Anyway, I think most girls prefer to play non-violent games, such as Harvest Moon, or The Sims, etc. At least that's what my female friends play.

I know quite a few female gamers and they say that they have to deal with that crap all the time. weather it be xbox live or even gaia online...but this won't stop my friends from playing online, they just ignore the n00bs and pwn everyone else (except me lololol. im leet jk)

I'm a girl gamer. I've been playing since the original Nintendo. My first game was the Legend of Zelda, which is one of my favorite game series out there (Link to the Past). I also own a 360 and a Wii. I prefer the 360 over the Wii. I recently started playing online and I've only ever met guys, some were nice and some were just plain rude.

I find it strange when guys are like, "You're a girl and you like video games?" We do live in the year 2008, you'd think that would of been known a few years back. I mean, my mom plays video games (she likes pac-man the best). I can't say much for my sister, she sucks and her favorite game is Tomb Raider.

I think some girls don't play games because of some games are mostly aimed at guys. With the fact that they use seductive images to sell the product. You hardly see any seductive males in images to sell games. I suppose its just because gaming used to only really attract males as they were more into technology that females. But seeing as times are changing and there are a lot more female gamers, then maybe the advertising market might change the way the sell their products.

I like it when girls are into games, feels like they are more laid back and down to earth than girls who are like "eww games" or "wth games?"

Some people just love to make others feel uncomfortable. People like that are just pathetic.
