Persona 4
They are important if you want to max out your social links in P4, since all the jobs require quite a high level in certain areas. Plus certain social links like Nanako and Dojima for example require a certain level of social link to be able to get past a certain rank in their social link. Aswell as how you need a certain level of skill to say certain options. That all bugged me, didn't mind it as much in P3 because it's more understandable that to go out with a girl you need have shown a certain level of charm around her for her to notice you, but requiring a certain rank to say just one sentence bugged me. ><<><><><

Ahahaha. glasses ftw. i was the same way.
Definitely worth buying after that.

I picked up the game originally for the idea that I was going to cosplay as Izanagi. The fact that I did not end up doing that and am still playing the game says much about how enjoyable it is. I think the best part of this one, over the older game (persona 3) is that you are able to personally control your team members in this, rather than the computer doing it for you. Leads to difficult play if you go and replay persona 3 after 4, lol.

One of my favourite aspects of Persona 4 is the social links with your teammates. It's pretty awesome that you get to see more of the main characters, rather than the random ones you meet in P3. It would have been cool to hang out with Junpei and Akihiko... :<
Not to mention that you get to control your teammates... so they don't waste MP on things like Marin Karin. DX

@junpei-iori
I guess ATLUS had finally realized how troublesome it is for us,players, dealing with our computer-controlled teammates (it made me almost cry at one point during my P3 playthrough, someone attacked the enemies with an element magic which did nothing but heal him after the whole trouble I had!)

Oh, I know!
It drove me nuts when a Shadow would use nothing but electric attacks, and suddenly, Akihiko would try and use Ziodyne against it. The AI could definitely used some work. : \

I'd really like to get to play Persona 4... but I'm stuck in the past with my P3. *Note avatar and sig...
The fact that you get to control all the characters yourself, and the more retro look does make it look more fun.
I still havent' beaten P3 yet though... FES is just taking forever...
I haven't even touched the game in a few months... Gotta get back into Persona.

This is quite an enjoyable game. I have not played any of its predecessors, but I would based on the gameplay and plotline of this one.
I prefer P3 over P4.I beaten both, but i prefer the dark tone of P3.Retro is cool, but it's kinda spoil the mood when you try to save the world in such a happy mood.Manual control of the characters is good,it shows that Atlus had studied the previous game and try to fix the flaws, but the flaws in P3 is what makes it challenging.Computer controlled party is what gives the characters personality,it shows how they fight personally, like Junpei would keep attacking with physical skills and Yukari is more defensive in battles. But I still used manual control in P4 though, since it's obvious you can't survive by depending on AI (like some boss battle you must defend or you'll die).
I'm not opposing P4,but I prefer P3 more.

I never play p3, so I don't really know the difference with p4, but I like p4

Personally, I like P4 more, the story is deeper, the gameplay is better... but when it comes to the second playthrough, I prefer P3, at least it allows you to keep your level.
By the way, I like P3's last boss, fighting Nyx is more challenging than Izanami.

I really liked persona 4 but not as much as persona 3.
one good point of persona 4 is that the gameplay is much better...and the visual of the fights and oters are great...seriously who would use yellow as the principal color of a game...atlus used it and did it great..and if the check all personas endings..persona 4 has the happiest..if you cry in persona 4 ending..if you watch the other personas game...u will definily pass out...

This game is definetly worth playing, it has a strong story like square enix RPG's and has that all too familiar turn based battle system. the main character as always can carry multiple friends while other party members have only one. each character is unique and you'll find building relationships to be a lot of fun. I highly recommend this game
