So with this new trailer, new CGI cutscenes, character voices, actual sequences of the battle system have been included. This game is looking as epic as ever. The gameplay shows more of the Real time/Turn based - Speed ATB or whatever they're calling it system they have going, looking very fast paced and different from other FF games. Voice over wise, the v.a selection sounds great and each voice seems to fit their character well imo.

The new trailer is cool and all, but it doesn't reveal much, I mean wasn't the game announced on E3 2006? It's been almost three years and yet we know so little about the game. I don't think the countdown was even necessary. I wish Square would release more information on the game than trailers and screens.

Final Fantasy Xi is starting to look even more interesting than Versus Xi. I had a premature opinion on Xi, but it's definitely looking to be the better of the two coming out on the consoles. And with a name like Lightning, I mean I don't know how how much more badass you can get. ^_^

Cant really tell much about the gameplay from that since most of it was just cut scenes. Looked pretty intense with good graphics, wouldn't be expecting anything anything less from FF nor ps3.

The last good console titles to come out of them was Kingdom Hearts 1, Final Fantasy 9, and Final Fantasy Tactics (the PS One Original for all those who are thickheaded about this game and need clarification cause they think the GBA game is the only Tactics). I'm expecting more truckloads of human waste like Final Fantasies 8, 10, 10-2, 11, 12, and KH 2, all the GBAs and etc, etc.

I would have to disagree with you there, ff10 was one of the best rpgs I played on ps2 console and ff12 was not that far behind either. Even though others like 10-2 and GBA tactics were not that good because they were messing up the original, I wouldn't call them human waste. Imo, Square Enix does a great job, most of their games have great graphics and interesting stories. Each time I buy one of their games I know that they will meet my expectations.

Dude Square Enix is solid.
It's the only company to actually get me to care about whats going on in the game. Not everything they do is perfect (Crisis Core, Dirge of Cerberus, X-2, turning Kingdom Hearts into a card battle game...) but I think human waste is a wee bit extreme.

The new trailer looks brilliant. I'm really glad that I can actually play the game (being a 360 owner and all).

I'm very interested in the characters in the new trailer, but they haven't been shown extensively (no cg art yet, sadly). I'm excited because I enjoyed Final Fantasy XII so much, but the battle system looks to be completely different.

The latest cinematic showing last stages of fighting my really impressed.

So I wait with impatience, but it will not come out before April 2010 in France, snif!

So I actually saw a rather high-res-ish still of some new characters and I'm a little annoyed at the continuing theme of scantily-dressed ladies:

It's not like it impacts their personalities (Ashe comes to mind) but it's just a little weird watching females run around in bikini bottoms and bustiers when their male counterparts are wearing hats and jackets and heavy boots.

Okay, so I realize this is a superficial observation that will likely be put to rest after actual gameplay but it's something that I notice in every game I play. To this day, Jill's outfit in RE remains one of the most impractical decisions I've ever seen but that's neither here nor there. After all, wearing a weird outfit made of metal and gauze didn't stop Fran from wielding every weapon in FFXII, so I suppose it shouldn't matter.

It's not extreme when describing a company that hasn't put out anything good in almost ten years. Square Enix is just like Lucas Arts and the Sonic Team, companies milking their past glory in an attempt to keep a steady inflow of money by capitalizing on the consumers who don't know better (whether that's age or just obliviousness it doesn't matter) or who are sentimentally trying to keep the series alive hoping it can improve to its former days of glory. We're all guilty of this sentimentalism somewhere along the line, even me (see my purchase of Soul Calibur 4 as sentimental in hoping the series can go back to when it was good, i.e. SC 1+2).

A real shame most of the games they release have very tedious gameplay, which ruins the experience, except for the REALLY hardcore RPG fanboys. I dare to say that the good games from S-E are from the Enix side (Dragon Warrior 8, anything made by Tri Ace and etc).

Final Fantasy 13 doesn't really appear in my radar. 12 was awesome and like the best game of the series since 6 and Tactics but apparently people didn't like it because it wasn't menu-passive based unlike the rest and also because game wasn't straight-forward . But at least I will get a chance to try 13 because it'll be available on Xbox 360 and I may go to a friend's to see how it is.

Ouch... losing Final Fantasy 13 surely was a low blow to Sony and their Playstation 3.

While I too was shocked by the diversing of FF to multiple platforms, I have to applaude their desire to spread the FF love to others who like one console over the other. Plus it keeps "us" (those who have to carefully watch how much we earn and spend, esspecially these days) from having to dish out the dough on a console to play a series we all know and love.

Personally I think the 6 disk+ set that the X-box version will probably have is quite the turnoff. However, honestly I am focused more on the Versus game. Especially after watching that most recent trailer. Noctis(think that was his name) makes Cloud look like a noob at fighting. LOL...

And SPUDSY, try to calm down on the hate-ing. I can see your a lover of the old old skool style of games and play. I feel ya, i do. However you dissed on all the Final fantasy series games, and then some; except on like 3 that actually had a different/mixed teams of creators behind it. (Its funny too that you liked KH1 which had many of the main chars for the FF series you consider "waste" and NONE from 9 that you love...) Are you just really picky about the story or something specific?

Granted some were bad, but not as many as you emphasize. Cause if that were the case, Final Fantasy would not be the series that has become the prime example in most discussions that revolve around the genre "RPG"
