*Ahem* I would like to open this thread because i'm a huge fan of Persona 3/FES and Persona 4. I love this two games because of their gameplay like when you are naming your main character.Ah yes naming THAT is why persona 3 and 4 are so cool to begin with. 2nd is they are Japanese game rpg to begin with. I very much love Japanese that's when i began playing this two great games on that spot fell in love in this two. 3rd their personas, wow there are so many personas to look at and to choose from. The info about them A+ for me, i love mythology from greek to japanese and to hindu. Hehehe. . .4th the characters, i very much love all the characters of Persona 3 and 4.I love Mitsuru-senpai of P3 and Rise of P4. 5th the gameplay, THE gameplay. This is kind of RPG i will love to play over and over again. We or I mustn't forget about the musics from intro to insert songs to ending songs, By far this is the best game that have the best musics ever. 10 out of 10 in the coolness chart ^^. Hmm. . .is there anything i forgot to mention? I will remember as days progress. ^^

Hmm. . .Anyways the first topic of discussion that i want and you fans or not of the game is the NAME. Yes the name of your main character. I want to know, we want to know what names did you use to name your MC(main character for shortness) and why that name,what are origins in making that name to bestow in your MC.
*Ahem* i will go first of course. lol.
In persona 3 the name i use in my MC is Akatsuki Kisaragi. Cool eh? lol. The first name came from Naruto. Yes from Naruto. I'm big fan of the Akatsuki. I research the name(i search it from wiki accidentally. . .lol) the meaning of Akatsuki in english "twilight" or "dawn" if that is correct and some anime use that name for ex. vampire knight. That's it for the first name, for the last name Kisaragi. . .i sorta invented that name of course Japanese people use that name, i think. At first it's Kusanagi from the Gundam Seed, the Flagship of the Orb, then i realize why not Kisaragi that one is cool too. So there, stamp, sealed i official name my MC Akatsuki Kisaragi of class 2-F of Gekkoukan Highschool. I so much enjoying this ^^.

For persona 4 I name my MC Ryozaki Urihara. The first name i pretty much invented that or i forgot what anime i heard that name from. About the last name it's from bleach, Urihara. Well that name is catchy and the two names are good to link. And heck the uncle of your MC is name Ryotaro - we have Ryo in our first name ^^.

So ladies an gents please put the names of your MC and discuss with one another. We will compliment one another. lol. *phew* ^^

Could you hide the spoilers please. P4 just came out last month in US, I'm sure there are a lot of people that still haven't played it that wouldn't like to stumble upon the answer.

Personally I prefer games that do not have an option to choose a name for your self, specially in those games that voice their characters and interact a lot with the MC. Some times it just felt like my best friends that I hung out for that year forgot my name, calling me "leader/sensei/senpai" instead.

Other then that I really liked P3 and P4. In P3 I called myself Yuriy Murasame and in P4 I called myself Yuriy Masamune. Yuriy is my first name, I used it because I did not feel like researching some other name, besides I'm satisfied with it. Murasame and Masamune are names for katanas that I came across in many different RPG games. Masamune is actually the katana used by Sephiroth from FF7, I really liked his fighting style so I often use the name of his sword. Murasame I often confuse with masamune, that is how I memorized it lol.

Also, this is off the topic, but it bothers me. I thought that Kisuke's last name was spelled as Urahara with an "a" not Urihara.

I see that you personally like games that have no option in naming yourself. Well different players have different taste ^^.

Hmmm...Yuriy is a cool name to begin with. What nationality are you? Me i'm from the philippines. Anime influence me a lot in this past years lol. The last name are simple are simple yet cool to use and yes those two names are confusing.

I was born in Ukraine, but both of my parent are Russian. Don't really know from which one of the two my name originated. Either way I was born during the Soviet Union when everything was seen together as one.

I named my main character in Persona 3: Vyse (vee-say) Hitoshi. Something kinda spur of the moment. In Persona 4, he's known as Saito Hiraga after one of the main characters of Zero no Tsukaima (The Familiar of Zero).

Not much else to say; I thoroughly enjoyed both games. ^^

Masamune and Murasame...haha. Masamune is actually a reference to supposedly the greatest sword smith in Japan. Said to have created "holy" swords and all that jazz.

I named my MC in P3 and P4 Kai Shimizu. I just like the name Kai and Shimizu was kinda random. 0-o And I was too lazy to change it in P4. XD

You do know that Yuffie's (from Final Fantasy VII) is Kisaragi, right? XD

okay...let me join to since i'm a huge fan of persona
in P3 the MC name is Clyde Steiner. the first name is Clyde (read "Cluaidh") an anagram from cloud. but since i also like Cloud Strife and didn't want to imitate his name, i modified the name to Clyde. but the truth is, Clyde is a name of river, kinda forgot where's the river is. for the last name, Steiner came from the word 'stain' since i got a feeling this game will be very influence. to make sure it's cool in your ear, i changed the word a little bit and add some suffix, and that's it Steiner. oh yeah, Clyde Steiner means 'cloud that stains the surrounding' but for the 2nd play i choose his original name, Arisato Minato to respect for his decision to sacrifice himself to protect his friends

in P4... the MC name is Neil Bitzhard (it's supposed to be Neil Blitzhard, but the last name only consist of 8 letters, Blitzhard are 9 letters, so i have no choice but to remove the 'L' letter). Neil is one of my favorite name, it's meaning is 'color of the sky blue' and i think it's origin name came from Norse or something. for the last name Bitzhard, it's a combination of 2 words 'blitz' and 'hard'. i have the idea to use this name from Tifa Lockheart. that's why i'm thinking to fuse these 2 words into 1 name. so... Neil Bitzhard meaning is 'a thick sky blue color that moves very fast'. and for the 2nd play i use his original name Souji Seta, no reason for choosing that name, but i think i should use his original name to make sure that i acknowledge his decision to go home instead of staying in inaba

Lol. nice though but those are from the mangas...There are the artist story not you. did you get my point ^^? I didn't bother myself to read the manga of p3 and p4 cause they are not the story that i make with my 2 MC's. Ehehe.

Personally I think if you put in an English name, some of the dialogs would feel weird. This is especially the case because most of the time Japanese people address others using their last names.

I've spent 160+ hours on P3 FES and will do another play through in the future to get all the personas and max social links.

Oh, and I've yet to play P4.

@~gensy: i hope they release a director's cut of persona 4 before persona 5 ^^. About meeting the characters of p3 and p4 we have the same thought about it. But i think the guys and girls of p3 are older now and the guys and girls of p4 are attending college.

Oh about the game time on my p3 i can't really remember i think spent 200+ hours in that game, yet i'm on the process of MAXING OUT all the social links to it and completing the compendium which is about 92%. ^^.

I've played P3 and P4 but my favorite is P4, i like the history about murderers and have a little more comedy
but... P3 is more....mmm, let me see...DARK O.o, the history is about a extra-time in 1 day,
both have a good story and gameplay (Ah Persona 1 and Persona 2 are good too [PsOne])

well...an exchange student didn't sounds bad at all. maybe it'll be more interesting if the main character is foreigner, they can make him go to visit inaba for some school camp-out and go to port island for some school trips. oh man... that will be awesome
