Your favorite console, and why.

Heh, I don't think I joined Anime Paper to talk about video games, but I would like to comment on this. My favorite console of all of the current systems would be the Wii. No disrespect to the Xbox 360 (which I also enjoy and would like to have one day) and the Playstation 3 (haven't had the chance to play it, actually), but there are simply more games that appeal to me on Nintendo's little system. Tsuzuki hit on many of the same points I that I have (I don't hack systems though), but something else I would like to add is that the Wii is the only one of the systems that I feel is really trying to do something new and exciting, rather than giving established games and genres a face-lift.
We're all entitled to our own opinions about the systems, which is cool, but I just don't share the same stance that a lot of people disgruntled with the Wii share. First and foremost, despite playing video games for about 18 years, I wouldn't dare call myself a "hardcore" or "casual" gamer, and I don't mind the fact that there's a system reaching out to new people. The way I see it, it just gives me more people to play and discuss gaming with. :P Plus, as much as I love challenges, not every game I play has to be "serious" for me to enjoy it.
Long[er] story short, if I had the choice to get all three systems, I would do so in a heartbeat, but I'm a person that gets only what I can afford and want the most. When it comes to video games, the Wii manages to do both for me. Quite honestly, I've discussed this so much, it's not even funny. At the end of the day, I say play what you like and leave it at that. :)

I'd say ps3 because since i'm a kid my consoles are ps1 and ps2. I'm kinda loyal to the ps consoles and they are a tones of games i love to play in the ps3.

Does anyone of you even own a wii?
buy a nintendo magazing and youll learn about good games for it. the people who say it sucks normally say that 'cus they dont search up good ones and buy crap ones, then think all the games are like that.
plus it depends on what games you like.

From my personal experience because i either own or have owned all three "next gen" consoles:
360: Great for Halo LANs, integrated straight into my home network so i could stream movies VERY easily compared to what i had to do for my ps3 which involved 3rd party software as supposed to windows directly acting as a media server (its been a while so i know what i just said wasn't quite right =/ ) i ultimately sold it because it literally sat on my flood for 5 months. i lent it to a friend and when it came back i didn't even recognize the menu anymore (if that gives anyone some idea of how long it sat around unused) reason i stopped playing it was that my personal taste in games was unsatisfied with the selection on the xbox as far as exclusive titles go. and paying for Live while having tons of lag issues was a REAL disappointment. ( i live in hawaii so it was local games or west cost only)
PS3: Best performance hardware wise, however developers do complain because of its complexity and seem to cause titles to shift to other systems. The online gaming aspect of the console is similar to what i experienced with the Xbox as far as games like Street Fighter 4, which just released, that depend on user to user connection. When playing games on dedicated servers i experienced almost no lag (Resistance: FOM mostly) The biggest plus for me is being able to watch Blu-Ray movies, also being able to convert such movies like the HD bleach movie that Dattebayo released some time ago along with many other anime titles right on the hard drive which is very easily swapped out because Sony put the instruction on how to do it in the User Manuel.
Wii: this is a ruff one, i have always found Nintendo to be more focused towards kids (though i'm still a kid at heart) since high school, but the wii is probably the best party console on the markets, reason being is that the games appeal to a wider age bracket. For example wii sports can be played by everyone from 3 to 60; however those outside of the 15-30 range may be hard pressed when facing the Halo and R:FoM pro's.
Over all i enjoyed some part of every console yet in the end the more appealing systems were the ps3 and the Wii for me.
On a last note, being able to use AA batteries on the xbox and the Wii was a lot better then waiting for the Dualshock3 to charge XP

PS2 Its so easy to handle and I have it now for 5-7 years or so! I also play on the pc but for me its hard to handle there anything with the different handholds you must concentrate so much what you are pushing, while on the PS2 you just have the player in your hand and you know all buttons even when you are blind you can play with it!
And the other consoles I never tested them out! Sure I tested the PS1 and after that i bought the PS2 as she came out, and I also played long time on the Nintendo 64 but I dont think that this console is even available for now - she is sooo old!! I mean as i played on the Nintendo 64 the first imte I was 7 years old and now Im 20! So its a very very long time that has gone by
!
But anyway it was a cool console and I loved to play on it, but now Im on the PS2 - but that goes old too the PS3 is already out and yeah!! I think the next Tomb Raider game wont come out for the PS2 anymore as well as other games! And thats sooo shitty - I hate that! The other consoles are to expensive for me!
The PS3 player costs here (by me in austria) 60€ - and thats very much in my eyes for only one little player!

I like the Nintendo 64 the best! :D It had some great games for it's time, and introduced the world to true-blue 3d gaming. I still get shivers sometimes when I think about fighting Ganon in Ocarina of Time, or the beautiful closing music from Mario Kart 64. It had a lot of atmosphere and personality, and did some great things, definitely at the top of my list. Though I have to say, neither the Gamecube nor the Wii have proved to be quite as substantial in offerings as they could have. The DS, however, comfortably fills that gap for the time being. :3

PS2 is the best console in this millenium
It had a huge amount of awesome games. PS3 and X360 have like 3-5 good games and the rest is medicore.

The Ps2 is, for me, the best console, great games, easy to use, and has God of War and Gran Turismo. What else can you ask for?
I would say the Ps3 but I don't have money to buy one.

Well, it's certainly not the PS3, and even game developers are starting to admit it:

I'm a bit biased as I do not own a 360 or PS3. I'm a bit of a nintendo fan, so Wii would be my choice. I couldn't tell you which would be better. The Wii needs to come out with some serious games because it's depressing right now. After Twilight Princess and Brawl it just flopped. PS3 just has good graphics and is playing off the 360 because Sony needed to compete too.
Just give me my good old PS2 and N64 and I'm quiet happy. Not state of the art but it has classics.

I would have to say that my favorite system is, without a doubt, the Sega CD, though my most used would be my NES. I currently own 25 systems, from the Atari 5200 to the Xbox 360, and I would have to say my usage breaks down like this from most to least used:
NES
Genesis
Sega CD
Neo Geo Pocket
Dreamcast
Saturn
SNES
Sega 32X
Atari Lynx
DS
PS
PS2
Sega Master System
Neo Geo
Atari 5200
Game Cube
PS3
Turbografix 16
Game Gear
Game Boy
Game Boy Advance
Xbox 360
Wii
Virtual Boy
The NES was my first system, and as such I have the most games for it (over 100) but Sega CD games like Popful Mail, and the Lunar series bring that up significantly, my favorite current gen system has to be PS3, if only for Valkyria Chronicles. As for the Wii, I managed to get one a week or two after launch and currently own Fire Emblem, Wii Fit, and Wii Sports. I've tried Mario Galaxy, Smash Bros., and Zelda, but have been generally let down with how the Wii has played out. As for the 360, I honestly don't know why I bought it, but am glad I did, as I'll soon be lost in Star Ocean, which has long been one of, if not my very favorite, RPG series. And yes, I do own a Virtual Boy, but have only used it once as my eyes went dry for a week after using it.
Those would be my two cents

Wii is my favorite console. I love the way that you can buy old games online as your collection.

Personally speaking, my favorite console of this generation is the Xbox 360. Games and everything else aside, the 360 has a much better controller than the Playstation 3 in my opinion. Playing FPS games with the PS controller is like a giant leap backward compared to playing on the 360 controller, which I can honestly say is probably the best controller ever made, period. If I had to list another reason, it would probably be the gigantic divide when it comes to the online experience. Forming a party on the PS3 is excruciatingly hard, and ultimately just not worth it. None of my friends play the PS3 online because of this, further strengthening the 360's case. It may be a free online service, but you get exactly what you pay for with it. I'd pay the 30 dollars a year for live (which you can find it for on sale all over the place) JUST for the Netflix support.
I loved the PS2, mostly for gems like Ico and Shadow of the Colossus, and that caliber of game just hasn't made its way to the PS3 yet. There are some good exclusive games on the PS3 (Valkyria Chronicles comes to mind) but none (other than MGS4) that would make me jealous if I didn't own a PS3 (which I do). LBP could have been that game for me, but it just didn't live up to the sky high expectations that everyone had set for it. I'm sure this problem will be rectified as the PS3 gets more advanced in years, especially with the successor to SOTC and Ico being developed, but it isn't there yet. Add to all of that the massive blunder that is/was home, and it's a no brainer, for me at least.
I'd put the Wii into a completely different category. It's not Next-Gen, and I don't think it was ever trying to be. I consider it to be little more than a toy at this point. A toy that gets a Mario and a Zelda every three or so years, with a massive hole in between, just like the Gamecube. I bought one for Zelda, and kept it for Mario, but having played both, I don't know if I'll be keeping my Wii much longer.
