Warhammer 40,000 : Dawn of War II
1 Page: [ 1 ]
I have played the first Dawn of War series, and then the Company of Heroes series. I gotta say, Dawn of War 2 is another epic win by THQ after Company of Heroes, it DOES deserve an award.
Unlike any other RTS games, you don't usually find RTS games where EVERY SINGLE UNIT HAS IT'S OWN AI. Yes, they have their own AI. Your units will be smart enough to find cover and hide behind covers to prevent taking further damage from ranged weaponry, they know what are the primary targets which poses the highest threat to them. Other than that, Dawn of War series is the first RTS genre game that I find logic in them. WHO THE HELL WILL SHOOT THEIR ENEMY WHEN THEY ARE DOING CQC ATTACKS?
When enemy units come to engage your units at point blank range, your units WONT continue firing their weapons, they smashes it on the enemy's face and you will see real actions. Other than that, the campaign is epic. You don't find campaign that focuses on a small army eradicating alien invasion all by themselves and saving GALAXIES!
Well, other than those, I'm just gonna introduce the Dawn of War 2 to you guys. But since I'm a lazy person, I'll just copy paste it from an obvious source.
Factions :
The Space Marines :
They are not JUST humans, they are genetically enhanced humans that serves The Immortal God-Emperor of mankind. Each and every one of the are so powerful and skillful that by comparison, every single marines is as strong as hundreds and even thousands of man. In addition to that, they wear the Power Armor, which could withstand even the harshest condition and incredible amount of punishment. These man knows no fear as they believe that they are fear incarnate
Orks :
Just your typical "retarded orcs which are savage and uncivilized". But hey come on, everyone will get smarter over time. After 40,000 years, the orcs became slightly smarter. They now wield guns and even rocket launchers. They are still as barbaric and battle thirst anyway.
Eldars :
They are just like the elves, except in deep space. The Eldar mind is capable of a far deeper level of emotion and imagination than that of a human; therefore although they are capable of experiencing the greatest joys and creating the most beautiful pieces of art and music they are also capable of experiencing the deepest hate and ugliest depravities. These pursuits became more extreme and depraved as time went on. Torture and murder came to be seen as artforms every bit as worthy as music and drama. The Eldar were extremely long-lived, never suffered from senility or disease, and their superior intellect allowed them to perfect their skills to a degree far beyond that of even the most talented humans. The Eldar were able to devise cunning new ways of torturing and killing their fellows at rates never imagined.
Tyranids :
The thing that inspired and spawned off our favourite Zergs from Starcraft. The Tyranids are simple creatures that has no fear and no emotion, NO NOTHING. They have only one single thing in their mind (Actually, they have only 1 mind, the mind controls every single thing), which is to feed on worlds. The Tyranids infest worlds to gain natural resources that allows them to spawn more of themselves. They have nothing more than this as their goal in their mind. The Tyranids are also creatures without numbers. For every one of them that you kill, you will just face another million of them.
Well, I think there's nothing else that I can include here. Lets discuss about Dawn of War II shall we =D ?

I've been expecting this game for a long time as well. The gameplay is very similar to Company of Heroes, a very different path from the RTS Relic started with. Soulstorm was a bit of a disappointmednt but, it seems Relic has redeemed itself. I'm sad to see though, that we'll have to wait for expansion packs to see the resr of the other factions.
Nice game.I played its demo a week ago.Quite interesting so i might just get it :D
But LOL @ Orcs vs Marines
wrong comparison xDD

Brilliant game, altho a bit different from the previous Dawn of war titles, its a welcome change. a game worthy of the emperors blessings. now they just need to bring out an expansion with Chaos and another campaign.
