Controller or No Controller?
4 months 2 days ago
As much as I like controllers I think it's an interesting concept and i think it might be fun for certain games but not all. But the action games like skateboarding and the soccer game (whatever it's called) looked fun and I know when i play the wii I sometimes wish I didn't need to hold onto the controller all the time (especially for wii fit) . But that's just my pref.

Have seen footage of the last E3 ?
Microsoft shown some of their new "Project Natal" made by Peter Molyneux.
It's like the wii stuff but without any controller at all. It's like by "eye-toy" technology and it's quite impressive.

I more jazzed about about Project Natal than I was after playing the Wii for a week, but theres no way this thing will replace todays two sticks and and 8 buttons (minus start and select)

I'm game!
It does seem like a really cool concept- but I have a Wii- and I hardly ever play any of the games that involve the weird Wii motions 'cause at least for me- it feels like- if the game is really gimmicky- then the game becomes more about showing off the awesome features of the system, and not so much the game itself. I might be wrong- in fact, I'm sure I am- but that's just how it feels now. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually.

When I first heard of Project Natal, I thought cool, but then, I remembered they still haven't found a good fix for the Red Ring of Death yet.
Project Natal is cool and all, but I doubt it will replace the good old controller. Project Natal might probably open new doors to the gaming industry. Racing games and shooting games could be fun with Natal. But can you imagine yourself playing an turn base-rpg using only a motion senor, or swinging your arm to bash through a group of zombies while at the same time browsing through your inventory to find a potion? Maybe in the future we won't be using controllers, but it's too soon for that. Also when you see icons presenting gaming, chances are that icon is a joystick.
Although I do hope Project Natal goes well, so maybe they could use the profit to do some good, like fix the Red Ring of Death, 50%(ish) failure rate is too high.

No controller is just a way to pull in non-gamers/casual gamers imho. Without a controller, it would lose its novelty pretty fast after a few hours.
As much as I love my controllers, mouse and keyboard, all this motion-sensor stuff like Natal seems like it could be very interesting and fun if they do it right.
Naturally, motion controls could never replace controllers; they're too deeply entwined with the concept of video games. They would make a good alternative to standard controllers for some games, though.

The Natal project sounds very interesting and I would definitely consider buying it. I guess it really depends on the game you are playing. For casual games I'd rather not have a controller, but for those hardcore FPS games, holding and grasping onto something is a necessity and sometimes having a control limit what you can do is a good thing. Either way, I'm looking forward on how the project really turns out and if it actually pulls through or not. It would really revolutionize gaming as a whole.
It depends, if Fps game, mouse&keyboard but if adventure or fighting game or something like that controller, i tried Call of duty on xbox, it was horrible :D but also Mirrors Edge sucked on Pc without controller

Controllers give you tactile feedback. If you control your game by waving your hands about then there's always going to be an unknowing barrier between you and the game.
It's just a fad, there'll be some games made for it yeah but don't worry about it. Buttons are here to stay.

Why to choose one of them ? i would prefer both options you can change whenever you want.

That's the best way, it would be fun to be able to play with the controller and be able to make some extra moves with the body... but it's too embarrasing if someone's looking at you >_<
Jumping and acting like an idiot in front of the TV ?? only if you play with others in a room
the controller never dies
the controller never dies
If I wanted to jump around and make a fool of myself I'd play DanceDanceRevolution more. I think the overall idea is intriguing, but I wouldn't want it to completely replace the typical controller style.
