Surely wow got its own mechanics but I find it lacking. Its too god dam linear you see you click you press hotkey for cast you know it will hit the question is how much damage orhow long can you keep away till that person is next to you and trying to out damage you.
That jump is nothing more than a gimick.

Well, i never played it and never will. Like 60% people around me play it and are trying to make me to try Trial for a long time. But online games are just not for me. I am too much afraid to play it and become obsessed with it. I saw like some of my friends started playing it with attitude "just an our a day or each second day. i can control myself" and ended playing several hours each day no matter what (of course weekends are even worse).
WoW is a good MMORPG to play casually. I have been playing it for a long time, but I pretty much just PVP to play it casually. They've also added in a lot of other casual content so that casual players don't fall too far behind the hardcore raiders and such.
There are a lot of people who get addicted to the game and their regular life suffers. Don't let this happen to you! If you have a tendency to get addicted to stuff, I would recommend that you don't play. =)

Have played wow more than two and half years now. Some times more and some times less. Playing it really depents how much free time I have. Since im still studying its some times hard to get job. Easy and cheap way to spent time is play WoW
... Well its fun then if one is low on money... But it can be really addictive too if you are in some hc raiding guild. Its more social issue then, since usually you get known to people whom you are playing with, and by playing together you can archive something. Anyway since so many people trust you, you dont want to let them down. But then Real life should be always more important but WoW is fun if one dosent have too much money and he has too much time.

For me it was both too addicting at times making me unfocused enough on college, and highly annoying due to the people that play the game. I will say WoW is bad, but not as a game if anything its a decent mmorpg.
Well I usually told my dad it takes his soul away.
But unfortunately, the last thing he did was play WoW before he passed away.
But This game has it's ups and downs.
Unfortunately there are people out there that waste their lives away playing this game.
I'm not saying it's a bad game though.
I personally have a level 60 Blood Elf Death Knight.
And I'm an insomniac, so I usually play between the hours of 1 AM and 6 AM when there's no one to talk to.

I played World of Warcraft for a while and found it to be alot of fun, but it the end it just turned out to be a time vampire while there were other things I wanted to do. If I didn't play for a significant amount of time per day I'd get left behind by the people I'd befriend.

I heard some of my friends played it, so that's how I first learned about it. I literally played for a few hours and quit on the spot. Luckily it didn't have that addictive feeling that it had for many others who play. Usually I'm not really fond of realistic MMORPGs. I usually fall for the anime-styled or cartoonish looking ones. Although, I do enjoy WC3: Frozen Throne, mainly because it's an RTS, but I do find the storyline quite interesting. Anyway, I don't like the style of the game and would never pay for a game like this, I guess it's all just personal preference.

Ya I have played the game and thought it was really good. I have been playing for about a year and a half now and still have lots of fun. I am able manage not being on all the time because of work and stuff, but time management would be a big one needed to play this game. It is fun though specially when you have friends that either play and get you into it or you get them into it. haha!! Even though they may not be happy with you after you get them started since it can become pretty addictive.

For me personally, WoW is a terrible game to get into. I recently tried out the Wrath trial after a 9 month clean streak to see what I was missing out on. Evidently, not alot. The same quests which consist of "Kill X, Y and Z" or "Gather A, B and C". It's a colossal time waster and at the same time incredibly boring but addictive at the same time. I found myself irritated whenever I was interrupted would spend half the day at my laptop. I'm really quite glad I'm done with this.

It all depends on the person. I know some pretty cool people who play it, and none of us play it any more than any other game. It's definitely not for someone with an addictive personality, though.
The reason people who don't play have such a bad impression of it is credited to the few game addicts that tend to get more attention than the majority of the game's players, who are all lead perfectly normal lives.

It's only as good or as bad as anything else in life. It's just up to the user how much time and money they want to invest in it.

I can see it as being addicting, but I think I'm pretty good about not getting addicted to it. I personally like WoW a lot and play whenever I feel like it. I like character creation and they did really well with making WoW not too repetitive. You constantly fulfill quests, but I almost always feel fulfilled when I complete them. I haven't found another MMO that has been this good in design.
"The rumors of my death WoW addiction have been greatly exaggerated"
WoW for me is/was like an on and off relationship, Blizzard was once a reputable company with creativity but after a few expansions you realize they are pushing the same left over food down your throats time and time again. Played a Shaman and one of those over powered Death Knight things (yes things cause everyone hates 'em) and I tried hardcore casual, DPS, Healing in every possible combination, leveled some alts, after going through Vanilla, TBC and WoTLK (3.2.0) you see the same recycled models and the game getting more and more casual to the point where you don't even have to work to get top tier gear (in comparison to Vanilla). PvP isn't as bad as when DKs were first introduced and the problem once again lies with Paladins and Druids being OP (IMHO) in BGs.
Now they are reusing Onyxia to hold the blood thirsty players over until their big fight with the Lich King... /sigh
And they throw another expansion... half an expansion (level cap is only at +5) whilst using modified Vanilla maps and dungeons... Activision/Blizzard has held off the release of every game to milk money off WoW, including Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2.
/end QQ
If you want to know the lore, or enjoy the game sure keep playing but if you ever hit 80 just realize that after your first half dozen raids it'll be the same thing repeating itself for every expansion to come.
