I've read only one yaoi-series, Passion, during the time I've been into manga.I didn't like it very much.I dont know...I guess it was just a little bit too 'tough' for my taste.Softer shounen-ai is more like my thing.But anyways, I probably have to read more of this before giving the final judgement.

I likey. ^_^ And I liked it until recently when my best friend started the fad between us. I think its ok. If it doesn't float people's boat, why pressure them to see it.

I like to watch yaoi that has a good plot with it, same wih yuri. If its jsut two guys going at it with no real story I really don't care for it.

I like yaoi...sometimes the stories are very intresting...heheheh...not to mention they often have very bishie characters..=^ ^=...Yuri kinda scares me....maybe its cause im a woman...oh well...often the yaoi stories are pashionet...great bed time stories...lol

It's not something I enjoy personally, being a fairly heterosexual male and all. Quite a few girls (and quite a few guys) like it, though, and it would be unfair to condemn yaoi while being a lover of yuri... Shonen-Ai, on the other hand, I have to say I don't mind at all. It can be cute, as long as the physical-ness of it isn't stretched.

I love reading yaoi mangas o_o the story lines are like deep and dramatic. its pretty good! sometimes its even better then most of the shoujo mangas i read o_o

First off hoonster, no one is forcing you to watch anything.. People are merely defending the topic and expressing their ideas. You are free to have your own and I respect every right to that. However I'd appreciate it if you didn't think we were all brainwashing you.

when and/or where.. did i say that i felt like everyone was trying to brainwash me to like yaoi? theres no where in my post where i wrote anything close to that so i'll just assume you made a mistake there. like i explained detaily(or attemtped to) in my previous post, i'm not being "forced" to watch but just like how i dont parade around telling people what i like sexually, i dont like it when people publically announce their sexual preference. it DOESNT MATTER if its yaoi, yuri or anything else for that matter. like i said before, people prefer different things i have no problem with that, but no need for a public announcement with pictures attached when the topic title is "isnt this so cute?".

Second, if I'm not to compare us to the rest of the animals created on this planet, should I compare us to.. oh say Gods? -_- Hampsters killing their young- part of the circle of life. Also helps keep the hampster population down. Humans are over-populating the planet because of the increase in technology and medicne.. Thus new diseases and viruses are born (AIDS was not seen 100 years ago..) to try and control the population- a result of overpopulation. Of course eventually we wil find a new cure or become immune, thus forcing the virus to transform again.

uh, i never asked you to name another being to compare us with. and the circle of life theory, in my opinion and i'm not trying to put you down or anything, sounds very flawed. hampsters kill their newly born children because they'd rather kill their own kids rather than having them taken away/killed by something else. females kill their husbands because they feel threatened. it is not because the world somehow notices that hampsters are getting overpopulated. if that was the case, how come nature didnt preserve some extinct animals? i say because of their animalistic instinct hamsters kill their own kind, dogs hump everything on sight and monkeys throw feces at each other. the new diseases didnt come up because humanbeings were overpopulating the world, either. there is no proof of that. sure, some how it could make sense but it doesnt neccesarily mean that things happened that way. why would nature purposely try to keep the human and hamsters population down? for all i would think that it makes much more sense if nature actually lets us overpopulate thus killing eachother for natural resources and finally leaving nature alone from pollution we create.

it doesnt really make sense unless you're saying that an all powerful being somehow controlling the system of things.

Didn't I just explain how sexual desires are a natural thing? only humans think about it because we're smart enough to. human virtues and morality get in the way of what's "natural". Can be a good thing, but you can't argue that the sex drive is one of the most powerful drive next to hunger and the will to survive.

yes you said sexual desires are nature things but you didnt quite answer what being natural was. just because animals do it doesnt make it natural. it might be natural for animals like "aw, he's humping my teddy bear again" but whats natural for them isnt natural for us. to sum up what i'm trying to say, i'll write it in a equation.

you say natural = because animals too have same sex urges.
and therefore you say animals have sex with same sex = natural.

and i say hamsters killing their own kind = not neccesarily "natural" for human beings.
so therefore what animals do = not necessarily natural for us to follow.

and yes, like you said, we have virtues and morals which makes us a whole lot different from animals. animals do not have reasoning, like my previous argument states therefore they do anything they want and that is why i firmly believe that we're not the same as "animals" because we have attributes that animals will never attain. our morals and values dont "restrict" us from behaving more animalistic, its what seperates humanbeings from animals.

but you're not saying that what they do on the show is neccesarily natural right? no one would "naturally" throw feces at each other like monkeys. what they do on the show is only ammusing because its not natural and its unnusual.

Mothers killing their children and husbands? It happens all the time. Cannibalism? Happens too, even though it seems to be less common. Dogs humping anything? As if people never did the you-know-what with themselves or the objects around them. Monkeys throwing feces? Babies could do the same, but are stopped by their mothers. As much as dogs are supposed to learn that eating their own feces is wrong.
Seriously, we are animals, except that instead of just using sticks to eat ants, we've learned to use that same stick to do other stuff.
We are animals, but we're too ashamed of ourselves to admit it. We say they're stupid because they throw feces, but we're not less stupid; we're intoxicating our own water and drinking it. We're hypocrites because we say we have morals and values, yet we don't truly live by them.
That was my pessimistic side.

i like animals, too :D. but thats beside the point. yes, there are incidents where mothers kill their own children and some practice cannibalism. i do agree that humanbeings share some animal traits but only reason i brought this argument up was becuase i dont believe that just because animals do it doesnt make everything they do "natural". it happens, but its not natural. some people probably did and do do the "you know what" to objects near them but they dont do it on your leg spontaneously without any warning. we have enough moral and values to not go around killing/biting/scratching,licking everyone in sight, i know that for sure. if we have morals but do what animals do, wouldnt that just make us unnatural for not using our morals and human judgements? :/

There are trials and errors in the animal world too. If I remember my behavior class, they say that in a group of male sheep, 30% of the sheep are actually gay. Yes, they'll make the you-know what with each other. Hetereosexual sheeps are usually raised with other heterosexual sheep, that's why they don't do it with other males. Or so I've read. It was my homework.
Rats can "murder" other rats or become gay when they are raised in an innapropriate environment(sp?).
Dogs have a lot of behavior problems because the world they live in isn't natural, we've changed it to fit OUR needs. Usually, a dog would find itself a mate and they have the joy ride, but because they are so often enclosed in a house that only fits our desires, they don't know how to calm their sexuality down so they hump stuff.
Lots of domesticated animals develop behaviour problems because of what we've done to their environment. We would do the same if we were forced to live in a place where we can't be ourselves.
Scientists (what scientists? I don't know, but school's not supposed to lie) say that most people are basically bisexual. Rare are the ones trully heterosexual, or even homosexual.
What I think about it? I don't know, I don't care.
As for reasoning and thinking and intelligence, animals have it too. Not the same level as us, but they still have it.
A wolf wants to become the alpha male, but it's still submissive. Why? Because he knows he can't win (they have a complex language that always reaffirmes their dominance, moods etc.) and knows he either must wait for the alpha male to become weaker or simply wait for the right moment to leave the family and risks his life to find another lone wolf and create their own pack.
Intelligence=learning capacity, which every animal I know has, but at different levels.
As for thinking, well again we must look at pack animals; they must learn how to hunt in packs. You can't learn if you can't think.

Back to business I prefer my life as simple as this:
I like what I want, they like what they want; as long as they don't interfere with my opinions to brainwash me, and as long as it doesn't destroy what I like, it's good to be different. That's why you won't find me flaming at fangirls because they say homosexuality is the best thing since girly-men. Although I admit I sometimes do wish to flame them all, but that's only because my anger for something else wasn't able to express itself sooner.

hoonster about the circle of life being flawed and why the world didn't preserve extinct animals... Isn't it because theyre the weakest link therefore are naturally wiped out? The dodo bird was not used to dogs, pigs, rats and humans until English setttlers brought them over board their ships and basically clubbed them as they approached. Hence the name given to them. Dinosaurs- Hardly anything that big lives anymore, saves whales, which btw are becoming extinct... But then again no one knows the real reason. Tazmanian Wolf- last seen in the late 1800's I think and died off because humans killed them off...

OK back to the subject- you can feel and believe in anything you want, but then so can we... There argument over, now close this thread... -_-
