Books vs. E-Book
By the technology advancement, the books is converted to the electronic's form, the texts. ^^ The E-books for me is a good deal, because it is compact, can be inserted to the laptop, and only size a vew kb(approx. 250kb). But several E-books reader is a paid software, and the list of e-books isn't complete, especially with the new release books. But some of the e-books can be used free, without any pay.
The ordinary books can be collected. And that makes some pleasure to several people. But it wastes many space(like my room^^). Beside, it costs more because some of them cost about $50-$100(like the novels).
For me, the books is better, because if I see the screen for a long time, my eyes will be dizzy, not like if I'm reading a book. ^^ What's your opinion about this?

I still prefer plain old books instead of e-books. E-books are good, since they can be easily carried, just bring a flash drive or CD containing the files, a laptop or an e-book reader, and you're ready to go. Books on the other hand are quite heavy if you carry so many of them but the one thing I like about them is that my eyes do not get tired even if I read them for hours.
I don't know why but I can't seem to focus on the e-book's topic. Maybe because I read form the computer screen.
For me, books are still the best!

I feel that E-books take away the whole experience of a real book, so I prefer down on paper books. Plus, looking at a screen for that long helps to damage your eyesight in the long run.

Recently I have picked up the hobby of reading manga... They are expensive so my friends suggested I read them online since they are free. But I still prefer to spend the money on the manga. Who knows why? Maybe.. hmm o_O Maybe the feel of the book... lol.
I prefer ebooks when doing papers that require extensive quoting. It's a lot easier to just copy and paste rather than type out massively long quotes.
I still prefer the good ole feel of a book though.

Hrmm a lot of pros and cons into this.
The thing is, I love reading books. I love opening brand new books. Space, weight and resistance (lack of it) are 3 things that always turn me down on books. I happen to have around 200 books in my homeoffice, it takes a lot of space. And after only some years the older ones are starting to fall into pieces. Thats the problem of cheap books these days. Made of cellulose paper. Unlike good old days of books, back when making them was a true art.
Now, e-books have their obvious advantages. Easy storage, easy 'backup', 'really' mobile. Cons: eye stress is about the only con I can think of. Even price is better most of the times. Also, since I dont live in a highly cultural city is sometimes hard to get good printed books, specially foreign ones. But its extremely easy to find em as e-books.
Thats my opinion.

I like e-books, but I enjoy reading a regular book better. THere's something about sitting down with a nice hot cup of coffee and enjoying a good book. LoL, well thats my opinion anyways.

E-textbooks > actual text books
But certain books retain charm in original bookform

Wowsers. Good question! The more I think about it, the better it gets.
I have both, and I love both. Books are much harder to read with my schedule (and my envious spouse pushing them out of my lap to substitute herself), and Audiobooks are unwieldy in file size to carry around. The only complaint I have about iTunes (and it is the ONLY one) is that burning an Audiobook is a pain in the buttocks. I have to carry my iPod AND my Blackjack when I want to listen to a book. Not a big deal, but I feel the urge to re-buy the books to get them on my phone, or just buy the paperback and carry it around when on business.
I guess if I was forced to choose, my precious books would have to remain. One simple reason . . . I can share them freely. I love to give books that I have read away to friends or people on the street in New York that sell them (a cool feature of New York . . . people who sell books for a dollar on the corner on a "donation" basis and give the money to the homeless). There's nothing more precious than the gift of knowledge and happiness that books represent.

I prefer to read real books, however, E-books are a great innovation that will likely prevail over books on paper in a few years.
Why?----
100s of books can fit in a device the size of a DVD case or even smaller
By keeping everything electronic, the amount of paper usage will go drastically down
You would be able to back up your favorite book so that if it got ruined or lost you would not have to buy it again
Why not----
The distribution of illegal copies would be more widespread (think of the music industry, and the movie industry)
I for one would like to see books in print for as long as possible.. I have an E-book reader but it's just not the same as having the book in your hands.

I'd definitely have to go with plain old print books here. A book you can take anywhere, something you can't do with any computer unless you print it off, which kills the whole point of E-Books. Even if you had an E-book on a portable device, the print would be so much smaller.
Call me old fashioned, but I'll keep buying real books.

E-books save room, but books you can collect. They have their own pros and cons that make them equal. I never read in the first place because I find it boring. The only time I read is when it's a school assignment.
I most definately prefer hard copies of books rather than ebook. Its a bit easier on my eyes than staring at a computer screen.

Correction, you mean you don't like reading books, because if you don't like to read and only read in school, you wouldn't be able to post on this thread because you wouldn't know what the topic was!
But yea...normally when someone says 'I don't like to read' they mean reading books and such. Just being grammatically correct.
Books, books...it's old school. E-books...not my style...too much screen time can give you vision problems and sitting down with a good book just feels more comforting. You don't have to open up the laptop, wait for the site to load, close all the popups that may have got through your filter, then all the other things like your IM message going off or you get distracted and surf the web and stuff...too technical and a lot of work for something so simple.
Books won't ever go out of style. Printed material will always be around. You can collect and make a library for yourself, sure it takes up space, but it's aethstetically pleasing just having a library instead of waving around a drive or disk with everything you need on it.
I read every so often, not as much as I used to though.
I like e-books, but, regular books can be taken anywhere to read and come in different sizes usually. Personally I'd say that, regarding novels, books are better. Regarding instructional guides, e-books are better. E-books are better for instructional guides due to it being easier (for me at least) to find stuff.
