This is looking quite good. Although, I think you should do that brushwork that you are talking about ^__^. The background looks to be a little bit plain, even with the blended character. Also, if you are to do the brushing, I think it would look better if you removed the scanline effect. And finally, I'm not sure that the blue colour scheme works with Inuyasha, as he is mainly red.

Inuyasha looks nice. I think maybe try a differnet craetive looking text. Also try to jazz up your background a bit its too plain. I'd try another color other than blue, it doesn't work with Inuyasha.
Yes a tad plain and so very.. Animewallpapers.com kinda wall... So.. take that anyway you'd like 0.o

I think the scan is slightly blurred and could do with some sharpening on the colours and the lines. If you have time to do so, a vector would be a good way of fixing it up.
Like the background, can't fault it. Everything else is good. Love the colour and the font of the text! Really nice!
Experiment some more and keep up the hard work! Don't overdo the effects on this one - it looks better simple in my opinion!

I think everthing i have to say has been covered.
Ermm...the background is a bit to bland. Spice it up! With Zaderand! LOL
I would suggest trying to change the text color and/or bar color. Also i dunno how good you are in vectoring, but a vectored pic would look super HOTT!

The ghost chara thing is kinda... cheese supremene :). If you're happy with it then fair dos, but it's the sort of thing that most people have seen a million times. Not that there's anything wrong with it, I guess, and people do still use that sort of wall, but I think the comments above probably reflect the seen it before nature of it - especially since you've also got a raster scan effect in there, which is another sort of old school thing. But maybe that's what you were goign for?
Here are two updates
Changed the background to red, as suggested. haven't done any brush work yet, I'm browsing a brush site as I type this to find some decent ones. Any suggestions on what type of brushes?
I also changed the faded scan lines so that it only covers half the wallpaper. (Its actually a transperent Radial Gradient with a scan line applied to it)
I've also got an Idea for the banner that should prove to be kewl, I'll keep that a secret till I finish the other stuff ;)
And yes Trismugistus, I was going for that old skool look.
