Hello? Are you there?

I made this wallpaper by merging two similar scans of a Street (With out Lain), and one with Lain standing on the street. I then extracted her, keeping her in the same place and did various tweaks with filters, pattern overlays and radial blurs to make it look like she was out of phase, but still looked pixelated, keeping with the Technical theme of the show.
Here is the wallpaper: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b218/aceman67/Hello---Are-you-there.jpg
and here is the full modified scan: http://i20.photobucket.com/albums/b218/aceman67/scan02.jpg (image has been scaled down)

I think her opacity might be just a bit low
especialy at her fingers,
so wait, i didn't really get what you were saying but, basically you just merged two scans together, sort of?
i'm not sure if that will work, honestly, because usually you have to make your own bg
although it looks nice

I wanted to go for that look of her being out of phase, the opacity was intentional.
I know, i read your post and everything, but what i'm saying is that
her opacity is too low, even if you do want to preserve the feeling because the bg is kinda taking over the whole desktop
C: sorry for the misunderstanding

Hence the point of a Desktop Wallpaper.

Hmm... definitely a good concept ^_^ I do think the scan of Lain needs work though. There are some horizontal lines in there that do not look good. I don't know why they are there, if you put them in or if it's a bad scan, but it looks wrong I think. Also, I think blu3angl's suggestion could have merit, it might be worth the time trying to increase the opacity just a bit, just to see how it looks. Like blu said, it doesn't have to take away from the idea if it's only a little increase. Also, as far as above-and-beyond suggestions, some more light effects might look good, kinda make it look a little like she's falling out of reality maybe, if you know what I mean? Anyway, it's a good wallpaper and I hope I could you help some ^^
I think you still can go for the transparent phasing out look if you want, but you may as well modify it so it doesn't look like the whole wallpaper is just about the background. Try some 'distortion' effects, you know, like the have in matrix and all.

I like it, But maybe it would look better if lain isn't so transparent ^^
Maybe you can add your own scan lines to make the scan like a telegram thingy?
