Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Hey has anyone finished reading the book? I just completed it and I must find that the book ties up alot of plots. Not all the evil people were evil, and not all the good guys were perfect. Which I find made the story alot more realistic. Of course, we've the obligatory casualties which are routine since Goblet. It's ok i guess, I wasn't really too attached to those who died this time. Some of the deaths weren't very suprising as I've already expected *spoiler!* the group of Jame's Potter and friends to die by the end cos it kind of 'signify the end of the 'era' of James Potter, and makes way for HArry's generation.
So what do you guys think? :)

Um~~~
The ending is beyond my expectation, for I have prepared for a tragic termination.
I cannot say it is happy ending for several characters ended up sadly, but anyway, the ones who were the most likely to die finally survived.....

I'm reading it right now...I dunno, I just started to tear up when it came to the part when...
SPOILER (click to view)>.<
Yeah I had expected JK Rowling to kill off either Ron or Hermion, or worse both.. So though this sounds kinda bad but I breathed a sigh of relief when the others died instead. Dobby's death was kinda unexpected cos everything happened so fast. He just appeared all of a sudden and died a few pages later. The escape from Malfoy Manor was nice, but my heart was in my mouth when Hermione was being tortured.
:(. Was so afraid she might be killed off at that time.

I have to say that the book was amazing. I was left a little unfulfilled by the ending, though. It seemed a little bit rushed, and there were a few loose ends.
I was also a little disappointed by the length. I would have loved for it to have been longer. But if there's anything that I got out of these books, it's how much the author was able to make us fall in love with the characters, which was clearly shown by the emotions we felt when they died. I feel that this will definitely be one of the most memorable events of the year, if not the decade.

I'm reading it now and I'm at page 281 and so far the book is great and I know the 7th movie will be the best out of all the seven movies, and it will be totally awesome in 3D I-max

I was pretty satisfied with how much was tied up, though I guess that if you wanted to know what happened in the future with some of those other characters, it can be a little disappointing. Overall, I think there was definitely not as much of those secondary characters really being explored much in the book so I wasn't too surprised that they weren't included in the wrap-up.
One thing that I can say spoiler free that I liked about the book was the pacing. It went at a pretty good clip in revealing information and wrapping up some plot threads, so it wasn't just a huge exposition at the end. Kept the pace of things going very well. I could've done with a little less of the articles and stories though. I know they help serve to give some of the information across, but I really didn't need many of them to be several pages long.
Also does leave some room open for further books in other areas of the world. That will be a real test, I think, of the staying power of the property if Rowling can explore other facets of the "wizard world" and still keep it compelling or if it just falls apart from lack of depth or whatever else.

I got it yesterday from the local Wal-Mart, and I just finished chapter 5. It's pretty decent so far, I like how it starts off fast with intense moments.
Hmm, harry potter sucks lol =/
sorry to intrude on the thread, but eh....
hope harry potter dies, =D

I finished the book today. I got it yesterday too. Ending was what I excepted.
My favorite line is "Just one more, Master Harry, for luck." -Kreacher (sp?) I love that part, it's so funny!
I look forward to see the last 2 movies. I didn't like movie 5 that much, could have done been better.

I really liked the 7th book. I was kind of sad at how some things turned out, but I had pretty much expected most of the main deaths. Some of the deaths of the minor characters, on the other hand, really surprised me.
Yeah the 7th book really rocks
sadly that some of the characters have to die. well, you're fighting the dark lord of all times. well, i wonder how they want to make this movie without removing some part in the book as almost all of the part in the book is important.

Of course, this book rocks for fans.
I just wanna say how stupid the book sale was.
Here in Malaysia, bookstores boycott the sales cause they mark up the price to 109.90 ringgit. That means nearly 14 UK Pounds.
an average novel cost 7-8 UK pounds.
Carrefoure hypermarket offered to sell it "at a loss" of 69.90 Rinngit which is half the price, and then the big bookstores shamelessly say "they are disregarding the artistic rights" when clearly, business and competition is what they should be focusing on.
I just hate trends, everytime there is one, all the idiots (you know if you are one and you paid excessively for a paperback novel which after a few months from now, you will get it at half that price) go out there with their money willing to pay to the cost of the artist's or novelist's petty desires to gain money.
Please, don't support a trend lol, no matter how the seventh book is regarded as so awesome, one should really have to spend less on a bloody book, heck, I guarantee you within the month, someone is going to rip it and post it on the net. Why pay for the desires of an author too greedy?
anyhow, I am just gonna wait it over, then maybe I will decide to get the downloadable version. Heck, I might as well grab some friends along and print a few copies to be sold on the streets. (no really)
