This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

I will start this blog off by saying this sort of came up in another blog. How we always wish that we were in anime vs reality. How sometimes becoming involved in anime, we find that we fall in love with their entire culture...for me its their old culture. The one that is slowly slipping away. The time of the samorai, tea ceramonies, honor, romance, loss, and love.

I feel that if you could believe in reincarnation, I would have been japanese. In the same era of WW2. Probably killed in Hiroshima on a rainy wet day or something, trying to get to the one I love. The one who was always so elusive. In my dream I see myself falling in the mud and still be able to see his retreating back...right before I was killed...The feeling of desperation. Knowing if I could catch up to him, get his attention, anything, all would be okay. Its weird now that I think about it. I have had that dream for a long time. Before I got involved in anime. That means I was having it before I was 12 years old. Im 22 now. So for over 10 years, I have occasionally had that dream. In varying forms....

As a child it was always a nightmare to me. To feel the kind of desperation, taste the fear, the blood, the taste of gun powder and smoke. The burn of my eyes as I tear from both sadness and the soot in the air.

So REINCARNATION
Do you believe?
If so, have you been reincarnated before?
Or do you NOT believe?
And Why?

What makes you think that life was that pink in that time?

how would we know if were reincarnated? memories of our past life? im not saying it doesnt exist, cuz theres no true way to prove it. for all we know. death could mean complete oblivion for an indefinite period of time. i personally believe in an eternal afterlife. i.e. heaven or hell. who knows. maybe ull go the way you believe in.

I realy realy realy should be staying away from threads like this.

Fast awnser is NO there is no after life, all religions are false.

Your dreams of been a girl and getting killed and etc.. Is all made up by your mind. Everyone has those! Stop watching so much damn TV!!! (That goes to both krystlehanes and akal6)

Life of samurai and tea parties, eh? How about 20,000 dead because they would not step on the picture of Christ?
How about cuting your own guts out, because you failed your master. And if you pull out your guts you be forgiven. How about starvation and no women rights. And did you know that when the Europeans came they found out that Japanese man had sex with little boys. That is some sick shit, and no it is not made up. I took Chinese and Japanese history in college, I know what happened. Stop thinking that everything was just like in the f*cking movies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but it is you who should be giving us proof. Reincarnation is outside of the natural world of physics, so it is up to you to proove it does exist.

Easy, I have only one life (my life), where I don't hold any "memories" from a life before, which means: a) There is no reincarnation; or b) I'm new in this reincarnation game.

The same way you have no proof it is actully possible and we could go on forever. Your beliefs in reincarnation are no different from those of a religion, you believe in it because you want to, you have no actual proof of it and by proof I mean a fact and not an event with an attached meaning.

Isn't it funny when one side requests proof for something they themselves cannot prove. i personally do not believe it to be likely that reincarnation exists. i believe in science, my belief in science includes the laws of probability and demands that i not exclude the possibility that such a process could exist, however impossible. existence is the impossible made possible.

sikoden, without proof your thoughts and beliefs as well as gat's and kieselgurgh's are no more then hypothetical ideas. no other idea can kill your belief unless you doubt them already, especially if the opposition cannot prove their side, this is the nature of belief or faith if you will.

the only so called evidence individuals who believe in reincarnation have done are of people under hypnosis. however, hypnosis is highly unreliable. people under hypnosis are suceptable to influence from the hypnotist. there is well documented evidence of people who were hypnotized, coming out of hypnosis with recovered lost memories of their current life that never existed. all because that particular hypnotist lead and influenced the person under hypnosis. when you go to a hypnotist that specializes in the reincarnation, he is going to ask specific questions that will usually lead him to his intended results.

kieselgurgh, i do not think that reincarnation requires that in the next life you remember anything from your previous life. so just cause you have not experienced memories from a previous life does not mean that you were not reincarnated, hypothetically.

gat everyone has dreams of being a girl and getting killed?

Zealkai, given that the thread starter didn't provide a definition I had to look for one where it was said that poeple might hold memories of past lives as well as the transfer of soul (or soul-like things). Given that I cannot test the existance of my soul my only source was the "memories" that I seem to lack. Thus, I based my whole point on that.

I believe that it rests with the person, and each person is influenced by their upbringing. some say that babies are born completely naked, in mind body and soul, however i dont think this is true, each baby that is born is born into the world of the mother and/or father, which shows that from the moment the parents do 'it' they have brought a new person into their world, they will shape and mould the young being from the very moment 'it' is done.

so now on to the actual topic, re-incarnation:
1. the belief that a person's soul moves into another bodily form and comtinues to live.
2.a) the re-birth of the soul in a new body (metempsychosis)
b) the actual form taken on by the reborn soul.
Heinemann Australian Dictionary (Fifth Edition)

so it says that it is the belief that your soul will be reborn, and the act of the re-birthing. which leads back to what i said before (up there ^), if you are re-incarnated then you are not born completely naked as some believe.

i would like to say that: until you are re-incarnated, you wont know, however, how would you know that you were re-incarnated unless you explicitly remember your past life (and i dont just mean a dream).

A memory can be forgoten, but the important ones stick, you will always remember very important things (usually bad) and unless you can prove that by knowing you are that person by and reliving your life (or part of it) as that person, to some one that knew them, it is hard to say whether it is real or not.

it lies with the person i guess, it is up to them to decide, based on what they believe, their ideologies and up-bringing, however i feel that if a person forces a belief or ideology upon you, that, that act is wrong, it is up to a single person to decide what they believe in, and whether it is rightand not force themselves upon others.

have fun, and ponder your OWN personal thoughts and beliefs, however you WILL be influenced by your own ideologies, beliefs and upbringings, hence this debate about whether reincarnation is real or not. detach your self from the world, free yourself, think nothing, be truely 'enlightened' and you will see what the path behind you looks like, and what the path infront brings (you dont have to though).

Reincarnation doesn't exist because the Lord made us all in His own image(spiritually) from scratch, and put a unique soul into each of our bodies. The reason the world is so messed up in all ages and points in history is because thanks to Adam and Eve, we are all born into sin inherited from our parents which makes us naturally selfish and self serving(which if you think about it is the root of all kinds of greed, hate, lust, etc). However, because God is soveriegn AND merciful, He took on human body and lived a lifetime on this earth, tempted by sin as we are, bearing our sins when He was murdered on the cross by sinful men. Being sovereign God however, and never committing sin Himeslf, Christ had the power to take up His life again and thus defeated sin for all who believe and come to Him for forgiveness. Those who don't however, will face judgement for their sins apart from Christ, which they of course will never be able to justify or remedy before Him, and so will be separated from God for all eternity in a very horrible place, because if you think you're separated from God now, you're not. Every time you eat, it's God's grace toward you in providing it. Anyway, that's the short version of the gospel. If you can sit down with a good translation of the bible (NASB or New King James is pretty good, start with the new testament) and read it setting aside all the prejudices that the world and false religion(because there are many, even some that call themselves "Christianity"), and just READ it, you might find it makes alot of sense, and despite the attitude commonly promoted nowadays, the difference between right and wrong, truth and untruth actually IS as simple as black and white, light and dark.

Before people start stomping on other people's beliefs, here's a reminder on each religions' view of life and death:

Middle Eastern religions (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) = one-way ticket in life (birth, live, death, the end)
Indian religions (Hinduism, Buddhism) = Cycle of Life (birth, live, death, rebirth, live, death,...)

So pause and think before replying. This thread is asking for your personal views on whether YOU believe or not. You can use your faith as a basis for your own views on this matter BUT do not quote your religion on this as if it globally applies to others who do NOT share your faith (that is already preaching to those from other faiths).

Reincarnation is the cornerstone in Indian religions. So please bear that in mind before posting if you are from Middle Eastern faith.

Actually, there's no or little reference (at least that I know) in the bible about a direct train to hell/heaven after death. I'm saying is, Christianity doesn't fully disrespect the concept of reincarnation as well. As for what I believe... it doesn't matter who I was or where I was, what's matter is what I do now, and what i will do in the future.
