This wallpaper gives us a perfect example of how a simple manga scan can be turned into a beautiful vector. Not only did danalm trace the lineart, but he also added amazing details and a simple, yet wonderful background. Furthermore, the wallpaper shows us how the monochromatic style can make your work look really interesting.

Pirated Anime

I once accidentally bought pirated anime without knowing that it was pirated. I bought it in Little Tokyo and it was the first season of Tenjo Tenge (Japanese Language Only). It was cheap and there were a lot of episodes in it. It was fine at first when I played it in the first disc, but with the other discs it began to screw up and the translations for it in english had chinese names for the charachers. I felt so ripped of and there was this stange beep sound in one of the episodes. So having felt this experience on pirated anime does anybody else support pirated anime or against it?

Hmm. I'm actually againtst it, but I do purchase anime off eBay if my budget is low and I really cannot wait, I suppose it's the same as just downloading a torrent, except someone is getting payed. Someone who shouldn't.

Agreed. But the funny thing is that these pirates follow the same rules as the subbers. It's okay for them as long as it's not licenced. (Legally)

Well my whole collection of anime is pirate! I dont mind but id rather have the original and not pirate but in my contry we dont have stores that support anime...exept for pirates that is. They download it from the net and then burn it to a cd and sell it... And it's really cheap... But quality of the video variates. Sometimes its good and sometimes bad but you can always get a better one. :D

Yeah. Sadly that's the only way to get anime (Except DL, but we don't all have a good connection) . E-bay and other ways to get it are just to expensive. Maybe not for u, but for us it's a luxury. Example Samurai Champloo costs 15 bucks (just a random price) and shipment to OUR country costs 20-25 dollars + few bucks for incurance... :faint: It doesn't pay off. But like Mrchak said, if there was an Anime store here I'l surely buy the original (although it's still expensive :( ).

Well I try as much as possible to get the originals, but if I can't get it, then I become desperate enough to resort to buying the pirated copy. And they're pretty expensive too! >.< Waiting for the american subs to come out is just pure misery sometimes. ;p

Pirated anime is only good when your budget is super tight. Myself I have alot of student loans to pay off so sometimes I have to go to China town in New York or Boston to get some anime. I am very surprised because alot of the pirated anime I own are very good quality and they give you a choice of languages. But, I don't condone buying pirated things because you feel kind of guilty for the people who made the stuff. I only have about 7 or 8 real collections of anime that I bought when my parents bought them for me. But, the rest are pirated and I have alot. College really puts a dent in your pocket, and I still haven't found a decent job yet!

I'm against it. Fansubs are fine with me, but paying for something, especially something of low quality, where none of the money goes back to the original creators, is not the kind of thing I like to do. The official releases may be more expensive, but when you consider factors like quality, options, (most pirated DVDs don't have seperate dub tracks) and the creators actually getting something for their work, I consider it a worthy sacrifce.

I try very hard not to purchase pirated stuff.you can find good anime websites if you try that are selling the official releases. it's hard to find, and still fairly expensive, but it's worth it. i'm in the entertainment industry and i try not to pay anyone who doesn't own the work theyre selling on principle.

I feel that I got ripped off the last time I bought pirated stuffs. What about those imported dvds? You can buy those imported dvds. In Orange County where I live, I found a place where I can get imported dvds for cheap. However, they only sell during the weekend. The first time I was afraid that it is bad but they are pretty good. Imported dvds are diffferent with pirated dvds right??
Even though it is not cheap like on Ebay, they consider good. They sell 3 discs for $40.00 and they let me exchange if something is wrong with the discs.

Are those pirated stuffs? I don't think so huh. Since they have a lot English and Japs version. I think it is just safer to buy from those we know.

In my case, there is only one way to go; to download all anime. Our local shops don't really have ANY selection and if they do, the price is sky-high due of the shipping costs.

One of my friends buys pirated anime and the subbing is awful. All the names were wrong and sometimes the sentances aren't even coherant. In my opinion even know it's wrong I'd rather download torrents if my budget is tight but I'd never settel to pay money to someone who firstly doesn't deserve it and for something that isn't even of good quality. And I mean it doesn't even seem that they informed you that it was pirated so I'm sorry to hear that they ripped you off. Try downloading instead if you can. Better quality..still bad but I mean it's a better alternative.

Sometimes it is hard to download since there are a lot of series you can't find online. Moreover, to some of us, we like to collect dvds. However, buying pirated stuffs = not buy any.

I don't buy pirated animes.. If i don't have access in my country at the original work, i download in fansub.
Pirated animes, like as any pirated product, is crime.
