I think d best shinigami in bleach is Kuchiki Byakuya.
cuz his zanpaktou (i duno how to spell it right, so sry if i spell it wrong)

My best shinigami would have to be Ichimaru Gin. Oh it's most definitely him. Those squinty eyes and that grin. Ah, and I love his zanpakuto. I impatiently await the release of v.16 so that I can see him in action. That little taste of his power in v.9 put me over the edge, but I want to see more! So much more from him!

Well, besides the main character (you gotta favorite him) I think that Zaraki Kenpachi is the most awesome guy! I don't necessarily know why, and it seems out of character for me to love him, but I just click with him. He is just way too cool of a guy NOT to acknowledge him! After him, Hitsuguya (I think that is the way you spell it) is also a very cool guy. Not only that, but he is a genius. I loved hearing about how he became a shinigami. How cute.
The best shinigami on Bleach would have to be Kenpachi. He's a cool and strong captain. He is the only captain who acquired the seat without ever achieving bankai. He also defeated the previous division 11 captain fair and square. He's fighting spirit is amazing, and I'd love to have only a small portion of it. He also stood against two captains fighting with their bankai. I am dying to see what Kenpachi's bankai is going to be. I'm sure it will be awesome once it's revealed, if Kenpachi ever learns the name of his soul slayer. Although from the way he has fought up to now, he probably doesn't even need to achieve bankai to defeat other strong opponents. All he needs is his strong spiritual energy.
Yoruichi is one of my favorites. I also like Ichigo and Byakuya. :)
Without a doubt, my favourite shinigami would be Hitsugaya Toushirou. Not only is he the most adorable character ever, he's extremely strong, prideful and has the most gorgeous eyes ever. Short people also need to stick together.

Yeah, Ichimaru Gin, those eyes look very evil and sly. I think he didn't show his true powers yet. That may end by the end of the fillers.

Just an FYI Zaraki Kenpachi does not have a bankai because he does not even have the first form of the sword (forget the name). If he knew the name of his sword his power would increase 10 fold and then once he learned his bankai it would improve 100 fold. He is easily the most powerful if he had these abilities.
Ichigo is the main character so there is obviously something past bankai and his hollow form. Unless of course the series ends

I think Urahara is really cool and I can't wait to find out why he left Soul Society and recluded himself on Earth. Why is he too good for Soul Society? Amongst the Shinigami ranks, I love Kenpachi, Byakuya and Shunsui - one of my favourites! Soi Fong is one of the coolest female shinigami, too bad her back story isn't that cool and also the strong lesbian vibe ^_^ although that may not be a downer. The traitors are stylish enough and I can't wait to see them in action and to pursue their endgame. Having said all that, Ichigo and Rukia still rock as hard as ever.
