New Mahou Sensei Negi Wallpaper
Well, this is my new project, and I need some ideas to improve it. The main idea is to focus in the Minister role of Asuna (to those who didn't watch the serie, Minister is the warrior who protects the sorcerer...)
Here is the first version
It's still very simple, I have the feeling this one will give me lots of trouble...

Too simple. Part of the sword is missing (move the scan so it meets its edge or add a border were the point of the sword should be). That's all I can think at the moment.
It's not missing... That's the way the sword is (I think...)

I don't think the sword is like that...
But maybe. Deffintly give Asuna Something to stand on, shadows in such. Good start though.
Negima rocks.

I think the sword is like that because it's supposed to be meeting the ground (notice how it's in line with her rear foot). Very cute but a bit plain. I love the way the lines look like the sun shining across the wall. And the background design is cute. Maybe remove some of the grayness to make it a brighter, sunnier page?

In the manga it looks exactly like that but I get the feeling that its sticking into the ground.
I dont like the bg...it doesn't match at all with the picture. The scan is very cute and I dont really care about the sword.
Maybe you need something in the foreground to hide the way the blade seems to fall short. She is bright and that is a good thing. The background seems to fall short, it's a bit dull compared to her. Will offer more help later on.
New version.
Not really a version, but a experiment. Put some shadow to give a ground impression, and brighted the bg. It's a little too plain, though. Any suggestions?

Hm... I would texturize the floor differently. I would e.g. draw a rectangle, style and texturize it as i need it (e.g. sand or whatever) and THEN (not before) raster it and create a new empty layer and merge them so that the new resulting layer doesn't have the effects as effects but more as part of the layer. Then you can do a perspective correction, e.g. moving the rectangles rear points towards some perspective point on the horizon. Also: the shadow of the girl should fall onto the ground and not go "into" it - so you need a perspective correction here as well.
If you don't understand what I mean, feel free to ask me (I will look here again tomorrow). Maybe I can help you and show you what I mean, because I think it would really make it look better.
Oh and one more thing: try to blend the ground and the sky a little maybe... or put some tall houses which go into the sky (you know the ones in tokio city for example :D). Good luck.

The picture of the girls is perfect... The only problem that i have with this wallpaper is the background... It does not go very well with the picture... Not only that but its a tad too simple... I think once you found yourself a very nice background that works with your piece then I am sure that you will have a submitably wallpaper... So far its pretty good but I know that you can do a lot better on that... Great job so far and keep up the great work...
Try a building or even put her in a forest or field. Something that may have some colour in it that would blend well with the pic.
Version #3
Using stock as background. I don't know where to put the letters, though... Any suggestions?

Hmm still no good. It looks really lazy and doesn't blend a bit.A photo-realistic or texture type background is going to look terrible with this image. You have a very clean image with bold smooth colors, almost a vector type look even. That background should compliment the smooth colors of the main image, and she shoudl actually look like she was cut out of her enviroment, not that she was slapped onto some picture. I would really recommend attepmting some vector work for this wall or trying to draw a photoshop background from scratch. The stock images and texture filters WILL NOT WORK but WILL LOOK STUPID for this image.

Think it needs a more interesting background. you need to remove the extra black stroke from your stock and add the part of the sword thats missing
