This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

This is my first ever attempt at making a wallpaper. Ever.

Roy Mustang - Flame Alchemist

I used Gimp, being the poor college student that I am, and extracted Mustang from a scan I found elsewhere (due to a lack of paper at the time), then made the background with different filters and such, kinda following along with a tutorial a little bit. Then I brushed on some sparks, and added Mustang and the text.

So tell me what you think!

I'm up for all the constructive criticism you guys can hand out...

Hm... I'm kind of iffy about the colors and the font. And it doesn't help that there's a streak going through his beautifully masculine and sexy face...

Nice work for your 1st time... ^^ well 1st i found some jaggy edge at the scan (at the hair and at the lower left of the scan)... i don't know that because of low quality of the scan or maybe because of the extraction and 2nd about the text, i think it's better to lower its position and maybe you can use other font (i suggest font with strong type)... well that's all ^^ good luck...

I think that's a really good first attempt! Like other's have already said, I'm not over the moon about the colors either. It makes him seem kind of cheesy or something (and we all know that the flame alchemist is not cheesy), but the quality is very well done! :-)

I agree. The color makes the wallpaper look kinda cheesy and the jagged edges on the font make it look like you did it in paint, which is all pixelly and rough. its a good start though! you may want to change the font and add something else to the wallpaper. it looks so empty, even with the streaks. good job for a first time, though! Keep it up!

To be perfectly honest, the colors were a complete accident. I was just playing around, and that's what came out of it... haha. I'm not crazy about this wall, but I figured I'd at least get some feedback about it.

I know the scan sucks. I would have kept it opaque, but you could see text from the other side of the page through his face, and that would've looked way worse than the streaks from the background.

And I'm not so great at extracting things yet. I guess I need more practice. I just got this software yesterday or the day before... Can't expect too much just yet.

Thanks guys! Keep it coming...
