Tattoos
so far i don't care about tatoos, it's your body do whatever you want with it, at my school theres this one girl that sits in front of me during math class, she has a lot of ear piercings and nose piercings, even though its not a tatoo, its still a way of expressing yourself, but she gets called weird names by kids in our class, people call her emo, but she dousent usually wear a lot of black i think its just prejudice, and i think tatoo bearers also suffer from prejudice, you ever been called weird names for having tatoos vamp?
The annoying part is choosing what to get. I'm so indecisive, I can't see myself choosing something that will be on me for the rest of my life. :p
I appreciate the beautiful ones some people get. It's a great way to express yourself. I think the people who say you'll regret it are the people who let themselves go.
My brother wants one on each shoulder blade, but our parents don't approve of marring the body (it doesn't matter that we're both adults... they still think it's morally wrong for all of their spiritual reasons).
My best friend has the Breaking Benjamin emblem tattooed really huge in the middle of his back. It's pretty cool. If I ever come up with a good idea for a tattoo (or a series of tattoos) I'd love to get one/ some.
The best tattoos I ever saw where just dotted lines around a guy's neck and wrists that had the words "cut along dotted line" written below the lines.

Personally if it was socially acceptable (which it isent) Id have a face tattoo that spreads down my neck and throughout my back.
Eventually once I get the money (I will need a lot too) I plan to design my own tattoo that would spawn from my neck, then cover my back. And more below the palms of my hands (the tip of the underarm). Theres more to it, but thats not what this discussion is for, lets just say I should look like a Yakuza once finished ^_^.
--I plan to design while my friend who is a real artist, would draw it out and make a hard copy so I can bring it to the tattoo artist. Basically, I love tattoos, but only when they mean something, and especially if only you can understand what it is and means (design over pictures)

kieselgurghTatoos are absurd ridiculous and meaningless. Most of the time people have them done just to catch people's attention. In no way they are art. Calling them art trivialises real art and real artists.
I beg to disagree with you, kieselgurgh. While I do agree that there are some people who do have them done to get attention, they are not the norm. There are so many reasons people get tattoos. Think about this: Tattooing has been around since practically the beginning of man. Many native tribes use their tattoos as identification, decoration, status signifiers, and proof of accomplishments.
Sailors used to get them as proof of where they've traveled or good luck charms for their journeys home and such.
More and more, others use them as reminders of loved ones who have passed or touched their lives. To them, the tattoo is a constant reminder of something they never want to forget. (Yes, I realize that sometimes people end up regretting this decision, but alas, this was their decision.)
About saying that "In no way [are tattoos] art. Calling them art trivialises real art and real artists." I do believe you are mistaken about this. While yes, most tattoos come from a pre-existing design, I think that this akin to having, say, a print of a famous painting. I know many people who, like Pokute, have their own design, or collaborate with the tattoo artist to create a one-of-a-kind design that will only be put onto that client's body. Many newer tattoo artists have had formal artistic training. One has to know important artistic principles to create a well-made tattoo. Principles of design are the most important: Color, Shape, and Space. Let's look at those tattoo artists who particularly are exceptional at creating "portrait tattoos". These people, in my opinion, are some most gifted ARTISTS I have ever seen. They need to be able to look at a picture of a person and recreate that with photorealistic quality. They need to be able to pick out specific lines in a person's face, be able to shade accordinately so that as the tattoo heals, the shading blends together naturally.
I'm looking into apprenticing as a tattoo artist, and I feel that I can still be an artist and do tattoos. (BTW, I've been to art school, I may not have been able to finish, but I have had enough to know the principles...)
As for me having a tattoo, I got one on the same day as my younger brother. Every person in my immediate family has at least one, with my mother and sister having three, and my brother in law having five. I plan on getting many more, well, not THAT many...
I think that tattooing, as with anything, is good in moderation, but with tattoos, this a person's own choice, ultimately, and they are the ones who have to live with it. Personally, I will only get tattooed in places covered by normal clothing. I really have no intention of having a job where what I do in my personal life should have anything to do with whether I get said job if I'm fully qualified.
...I think I'm done going on now...^_^
but there also people who have tatoos and i think they`re happy with them
i also want a tatoo but i haven`t the money yet, it should be a trible dragon on my shoulder, for me dragons are very beautiful, mysterious and great fantasy animals
