What did people think of Honey and Clover?
I didn't wactch Honey and Clover II but I watched the first season. First I expected more from the anime and when I watched it, it turned out dissapointing. But during the anime, I think it's really funny and I enjoyed watching it even though it's really complex as you said.
I find that it grows on you a little bit. Im not a big fan of the art style but it does have its funny points.
*Hiccup* 86! *Hiccup* 85!! oooh! *Hiccup* haha only 84 hiccups left till you die! (heh remember that?)

I think it is one of the dopest anime's I have ever seen. I have so many favorite scenes in that series, and its follow up. I just love how they talk about the commoon feeling of doubt in everyone in where your life is going, how you act when your in love, and you interact with close friends. I love the bond all of them have.
I know I'm looking forward to finally being able...to see it! I've heard a lot of good things so here's hoping...

There was a old locked thread about Honey & Clover : http://www.animepaper.net/forums/AnimePaper/33656/
but, ive never seen Honey & Clover, but the person who started the topic told me that Honey & Clover is really worth watching, and he said that it was one of the best anime that he has seen. but a lot of people said that they cried when they watched it. and said that the friendship/relationship is really deep and its really sad. ive read some reviews about it, just reading the reviews, i recommend it. im going to start Honey & Clover this summer.

I watched it in Animax-Asia channel. At first glance i thought it was weird anime, since the opening itself is weird.
After watching some episodes, i found out that this anime is hilarous, but in the middle of it, there are some romantic and dramatic scene about romance and friendship.
I can say, this is not your ordinary romance anime. It looks like triangle love, unrequited love, but you'll found out that the real stories have deep meaning.

Honey&Clover's one of the best anime series ever. I've repeatedly watched it and everytime I look back on an episode the meaning in it seems to grow stronger and deeper. I never get tired of it.
skyblue24Honey&Clover's one of the best anime series ever.
I wholeheartedly agree. It's a slice-of-life show about young adults trying to figure life and love out. It's at times funny, heartbreaking, and touching. Yes, it's a romance, but not a typical anime romance- more like real life love. Sometimes you fight your friends over who you love, sometimes the love is unrequited, sometimes you become obsessed, sometimes you can't move on, sometimes you choose loyalty and devotion over the person you're infatuated with. I love Honey & Clover because as an adult, you sympathize with so many moments the characters go through because you've gone through similar situations. It makes Honey & Clover great. I admit, you may not like it if you only watch action-packed anime because you might find it slow, or you might not like it if you can't sympathize with the characters because you've never felt the kind of emotions they've gone through, but if you like slice-of-life romance, you'll love Honey & Clover. The first season was better than the second in my opinion, but the second gives it closure. You realize that friendship and drifting apart and all of those other things are exemplified in the music, so I fell in love with the songs (really great soundtrack) that bring Honey & Clover to life.
Im not to sure about the "BEST" anime ever part but i do think its really well done.
The "I really like you but i dont love you" ploy throughout the show is kinda drawn out in my opinion. I mean i've watched all 30+ eps of this (HCI and HCII) i mean you really feel for the characters and sympathise with them but watching the 8th and 9th episode of the same inability to make one decision kinda got old on me. Granted there wouldnt be a story if they straight out said what they needed to say but i mean comeon theres so many ways one can divert itself from the main story a perfect example is the episode where nomiya's (i get confused with all the names) co worker's keep buying all the wierd outfits to disgrace this other coworker but he keeps ending up being on a big magazine just because of that.
long story short i think they just needed better fillers than what they had IMO.

Am i the only one that thought the ending for #2 was dissapointing? First of all hony & clover 2 was only 12 eps. Meaning that it wasnt succesful so it was only turned into a 12 ep anime.
I forget his name (the guy who rode the bike around all japan) was there any point in that? Why was he the main character? He was one of the biggest losers in anime history that didnt even get a real ending at the end. In my opinion Morita should have been the main character. He was the only reason i watched the show because each time he appeared it was as if all hell broke loose and was funny as hell.
Whats up with the art teacher any ways? he falls in love with a 10 year old girl? when he is like in his 50's? come on just gimme a break already. Talk about child molesters.....
Overall i think this was a decent anime with its lows and highs. In honey&clover 1 the last episodes were the most boring episodes in anime history when the loser rides a bike around japan with no point whatsoever. However when the anime shifts to morita's side of the story it is when the anime is at its highest.

LOL, it sucks. Scary OP...
I've seen both Honey & Clover and Honey & Clover II - I'd have to say that the first "season" It took me awhile to get into it but after watching about 3 or 4 episodes I really enjoyed it but I would have to say that Honey & Clover II is all around better!
It's one of my favorite anime. I can really relate to the characters, and I think that the series is really funny. I found Takemoto's self-discovery journey to be really soulful.
