After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

Well, yesterday I gave up my first wall on AP because everyone thinks it was too blur. XD

Today after a few hours' work, I came up with this Shana wall. It's basically a vector work base on a scan on AP.
Another eastern style wall.

Now I'm just wondering which version of wall you like better. I really had a hard time to make decision.

I definitely have to say that I like the first one much better. I especially have to say that because the colors in the second one seem to off-balance the rest of the wallpaper. I think the first one is much more subtle and works better with the colors that follow the background and, in turn, keep the "far east" theme going on here. I do have to make a suggestion for this though. There seems to be a lot of empty space in both examples and it makes the wallpaper seem too plain. Maybe there could be an added manuscript in characters following the style or something else interesting in the background there. Otherwise, I think this isn't going to make it too much further in the development process.

I do have to say that what you have here definitely shows a lot of promise for a wallpaper and the extraction is very well done for the rest of the piece. Keep up the good work!

The vectoring is really well done and I LOVE the first one much better than the second one...

But you should remove the reflection on the floor... Cause it's not right about the perspective and the reflection rules of geometry... And I don't think it has anything to do in that kind of Asian style art... You can add water or something but no reflect...

Like techman said it's a bit empty on the left side.. But I guess you could take the red characters you use, make them bigger then put them in the middle of the empty space... For me it would be the best and easiest way to fill up the blank...

But of course you can add some more scenic details as mountains, rivers, falls and stuff like that... It's up to you... So far you did a great job!

I'll fav this wall as soon as it is accepted cause I'm sure it will be! :p

Note : your sign could be a bit more in the style of the wall to make it less noticeable... ;)

Good luck!

I second the first version as better and more appropriate. The reflection suggests water on the floor but you shouldn't have overlapped the feet; either move it down or mask it out with a gradient more. I'd also lower the contrast or opacity so the black of the reflection isn't so strong.

As for filling the rest of the wall, how about filling in some sort of extended scenery? More bamboo, or a forest or or mountain range, mist, birds, that sort of thing. If you created the bamboo from scratch I have to say I love the way it's turned out; I'm sure you could continue in that style and flesh out the setting of the wall a little more.

First one, no doubt about it. It looks much better blended as one, perhaps some chinese/japanese characters on teh side or more drawings of mountains and such :) Very nice wallpaper nonetheless

I agree, the first one looks better. Hecate in the second one stands out way too much while in the first one, she compliments the surrounding.

Wow,thanks a lot for suggestions.

I like the first one as well, just worrying about the main character is not stand out (that's the main problem of my last wall). But now the decision seems to be very clear.

I didn't notice that it's empty on the left side cause I got lots of icons on my desktop LOL. Personally I always like to leave out some space but this case may be really too much.

Well, I changed the structure of wall and traced a Crane to add to it. Now here's the second version~

The character still falls into the background because there really isn't enough contrast between foreground and background...

Maybe you could try experimenting with textures to make the character stand out some more. If you try making a diffrent texture for laying over the figure, it may define her so that she stands out and gives her just enough contrast without changing the overall layout of the entire wallpaper. I don't know. It's just a suggestion, but I'm not sure if I even make sense, so I hope that helps some.

Then to my I like much this wall… also likes me the texture, because what is wanted to stand out she is that the image is looked like an old papyrus… but… the part of under the reflection is seen like floating. can that needs to him some line so that it seems that this upon a mirror or of a water source… n_n

OMG.. I'v already submitted ~! Now I'm becoming the only person want my wall get reject. XD. Can I change it anyway after uploaded? T_T

The more I look at my wall and the more I found out it's really lack of contract. The entire wall looks like a "background" of something else.

Keep the style and get more contract. To solve this problem may really beyond my skills. T_T if her dress was red the problem may not exit at all. Should I re-cg it ? lol

Anyway,I'm using a cheap way to do it right now: finding something in between.I added a normal color layer and lower its opacity. So it's not too bright nor dark. Still I'm not sure which one is kind "balanceed"

I think 30% fits the whole feel of the background better...where did you find that texture for the bg, btw? Did you make it? how??! LOVE the texture. GREAT job with that. The vectored bamboo looks really nice too...Frankly, I liked the asymmetry of your first version, with the empty space on the left. Maybe try moving the character (is it card captors? o.O) and the crane over to the left side, and seeing how that looks. Also, the reflection at the bottom...are they standing in water? Besides the reflection, there's nothing to indicate that.
