Avi to DVD-R?
1 Page: [ 1 ]
O.K. Basically I have some Avi files that I would like to place onto DVD-R's. I wanna have the files burned on the DVD so I can play them on DVD players. Do you guys know how this procedure works? What programs I need?
-Thanks in advance.

You're basically looking to transcode them from AVI to MPEG2/DVD. You should find tutorials to do so here as well as links to the software they suggest.

If i recall correctly DVD formats are usually in .VOB
.VOB is a reference to the file structure of a DVD. The video stream it contains is MPEG2.
Download VSO DivX to DVD Converter and it will convert most video files to DVD VOB files with a few clicks. It WILL NOT convert MKV files with soft subs so don't expect to keep soft subs on the converted DVD. It will only convert hard subs, which are encoded into the video file itself. Burn the resulting files with Nero or let VSO convert and burn all at one time.
The disadvantage of this software is that you can not create a menu system. It will play like a VHS tape. You can also set chapters so you may be able to skip between episodes using that.

Personally I just use WinAVI videoconverter, which is simple to use but unfourtanly it costs money.
It works great but the only problem I've been having is that the sub in some animes comes under the TV screen, I'm sure you can easily fix it if you have the time to dig in the options.

I've been using mcfunsoft video solution, it's been working fine, and it even converts to mpeg1, which still works on standard dvd players, but instead of only 5 eps, usually a dvd will hold about 18 in that format. quality not as good, but eh...
The more recent versions of Nero have a built in program for this called Nero Vision Express so if you already have Nero that's probably the easiest route to go.
Vision Express? Does that help with burning movie files onto playable DVDs on DVD players?
My vision express crashes... I don't know why. Might have to get it again
