Which manga company do you like the most?
Hmmm...probably Vis just because I like a lot of their Shonen titles (TPOT, yo!), but Tokyopop takes a close second for the simple size of their offering...I'd say ADV because they have a bunch of titles that I love...but they're just way to sketch when it comes to releases...I mean, they haven't even updated the manga section of their website in two years? What's up with that? *sigh* I sure hope they finish Chrono Crusade and Yotsuba&!...
Yea yea i like ADV too! well only because of yotsuba, and they didn't mess up!
i also like cmx only for the 'land of the blindfolded' though...

DarkMousy090Let's see. I hate Tokyopop's new logo on their manga. They switched from the small one to the large red one right in the middle of a lot of my series. And they can't decide if they want to read them left to right or right to left. But they've got good series. Viz is good too.
welll, tokyopop's publishes some 'manga' from left to right because those 'mangas' are either manwha-korean manga or american manga. anyway I like tokyopops because they have a wide selection and i like del rey because they have the translation notes. VIZ is ok... i guess...
I generally like any publishers though
Hmm... Del-Rey does a better job at translating by far. I love how they retain the SFX then put a small translation beside it/in close proximity... doesn't seem like any of the other companies do this. Tokyopop leaves them in sometimes, but they don't always translate them and Viz replaces it altogether, which in my opinion can destroy the artwork... (They did it in "Host Club" by Hatori Bisco and you wouldn't imagine my disappointment when I saw a page spread had been ruined).
I think nowadays Tokyopop put cultural tidbits in the back (correct me if I'm wrong... I only have older stuff done by them ^^;; ), but I love how Del-Rey goes above and beyond to retain the original meanings instead of trying to "Americanize" it.
Of course, it's all really irrelevant because I only look for the title of the manga regardless of the publisher. So my collection contains mostly Viz stuff (with a touch of Del-Rey) XD

Most of the stuff I have are from either tokyopop or VIZ.
So far, for Rurouni Kenshin, Viz is doing an ok job, and I'm really happy that they started releasing a volume a month...(been waiting so long for it to be translated!)
as for tokyopop, I think they did an AWESOME job of GTO, but i'm very, very dissapointed with what they did to Initial D (name change, censoring, bad slang)... as some have said before, they're somewhat inconsistent. However, the Initial D is the only manga I felt that I just couldn't stand because of the amount that it was butchered.
ADV IMO does a decent job of FMP, but that's the manga series i've bought from them.
DH on the other hand, isn't too bad. the only downside is that some of their series are insanely expensive per volume... so i had to stop buying them.

The mangas i buy come from USA to my country, so i generally buy VIZ and Tokyopop products. FMAlchemist is very good, Ceres: Celestial Legend-i love the plot, Basara-it kind of gives me the feeling of Mulan :), Ranma 1/2-sooo funny and Hot Gimmick (i am rather ashamed to say because it is something like the bold and the beautiful :P ) from Viz. But i must admit i like Tokyopop better than VIZ, Gravitation, Love Hina and Fruits Basket.
Tokyopop and Viz are the best.
