This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

There's been alot of remake movies coming out lately. For instance "The Italian Job", "Ocean's Eleven" (which became a hit and created Ocean's thirteen), Around the world in eighty days, The Exorcist; a new beggining, Pink panther, well you get the picture.

What do you all think of these remake films? Undoubtedly some of them have been done pretty well, while others are arguable. Do you think movie producers are running out of ideas? Or are they simply trying to 'milk' everything they can of a particular idea? What's your opinion over this?

Uggggghhhh... nasty remake films.

There are way too many of these.

I mean... Bambi 2 ?!?!?!

I think that Hollywood needs to stop remaking old movies and/or rehashing old plots and characters and find some genuine good stories. GOD. Out of hundreds of movies produced every year, only 10 are truly and genuinely great. Yes, yes, you say, "but some of those movies are good!".

But the majority of them aren't.
I don't want another cheezy Ghost Rider 2, or a new, revamped Star Wars.

I want good, quality material.

Either:

A cheap rip off by the director as he has nothing else on his mind (or has nothing more to churn out of his "creative license")

or

An attempt to make a movie better by using technology that was unavailable during the originals time like CGI or special effects.

In either case, remaking classics such as War of the Worlds is just plain milking it.

Of course the remade films are the favourited films that have so many fans. It's done to make an improvement on the movie's scenes, characters, computer effects, etc. Maybe it can be said because the author's idea has been depleted. ^^ But the main reason why the remake movies are made is to improve the satisfication of that movie's fans.

The example is Mission Impossible. Even it's not a totally remake, it shows a big improvement. I remember when I rewatch the MI1, there are the description "Future, year 2000" ^^, and there are a laptop with the green main display ^^;. Now try to watch the MI3, you'll feel far different with the first MI. ^^

Mission Impossible in itself is a remake of an 80s TV series. And I LOVED the series, probably more so than the three movies combined.

I for one, love the new remakes. Maybe not all of them, but look at the Longest Yard, that movie was a great remake! I think that some people that were around for the originals like to see the new movies come out, its something for them to think back on, something to remember from when they were young watching the original...and maybe have a good laugh. Granted, some of them might not be brilliant remakes but I think for the most part many of them do the originals proper justice. I really don't think that anyone is trying to milk a franchise and I definitely don't think that the movie industry is running out of good ideas. Producers are being thrown scripts and ideas left and right and they're just trying to rustle through all of it. I don't know, in short, all I'm saying is its good to remember some of the old classics, along with the new movies coming out.

I didn't even know that some of the movies mentioned above are remakes... this only reinforces my opinion that hollywod is running out of ideas. I also read that their busy with new a new Ghostbuster movie, this is understandable, cause now they can create the ghosts with CG that they didn't ad at that time.

I don't really have a problem with remaking films, as long as they make it better than the original

Well it all depnds on the movie.. like king kong the remake looks way btter then the first one even if i never realy watch the first one... but it's kinda hard to tell since i havn't always watch the original movie.. in a way it's a realy bad thing.. but in the other hand.. they can make better effects in the movie and it looks better...

but i would have to agree with some of you hollywood is just runnig out of ideas.. well it's kinda hard now to make something new without it looking like something ealse.. there are just so many diffrent moveis that are out there that movies are starting to suck since we already saw somthing simulare.. am i the only one that thiks that??

Well, remakes can be either good or bad. There are some movies that got it right the first time, like Psycho, there should have never been a remake of that movie. But then there were remakes of movies that were much better the second time around, like Ocean's Eleven. There are plenty of films that had a good premise and story, but the presentation was flawed. I would like to see a good remake of Bring it On, cause' that movie needs one bad.

And just a quick note, there's a difference between a remake, continuation, and adaptation. Remake = Psycho, King Kong, War of the Worlds; Continuation = US Marshals, Star Wars Episode I, Bad Boys 2; Adaptation=Dukes of Hazard, Mission Impossible

Erg... remakes are notrious for ruining whatever they are remaking.

Well, most of them are. CONTINUATIONS are far worse. Cinderella 3, Bambi 2, The Hunchback of Notre Dame 2, and The Lion King 1 1/2, what the hell, man!? The original movies were doing fine, if not BETTER, before these came out. REMAKES like Herbie Fully Loaded and The Parent Trap are just as bad. And ADAPTATIONS can be bad as well, look at Bewitched and The Dukes of Hazard. D:

A remake I LIKED was The Producers. I'll also say King Kong for name's sake, since it was good... bit too long for my tastes though.

I thought you guys were talking about like "Departed"... still, remakes are cool in a sense that us, as viewers, get to enjoy the cool stories without being bored from old-fashioned actions and actors.
