Has anyone read Hana Kimi?
Hana Kimi is a shojo (girl's) manga about a girl who disguises herself as a boy to attend an all-male boarding school in Japan. The art is awesome, and the characters are hilarious! Has anyone heard of it?
I just read it recently...it was pretty entertaining for a shoujo manga...although it was a little unbelievable how long she managed to stay disguised :) The art style was interesting because she had to be boy-like enough to be believable and still look girly...the guys were all pretty cool though! I thought it ended pretty well
Just was looking at a pretty neat wall on ap of Sano today too

You should catch up! It's getting really good, even though a bit unrealistic. The only explanation I can think of is that maybe since she's in an all guys school they just expect her to be a guy?
I have it all on my computer, but i've only gotten to the 22nd volume. I need to finish it..
Anyway, I liked the art a lot because she looked cute as both a boy and girl. It was a bit unbelievable, however, because of how long it took everyone to realize she was a girl. I thought it was kind of obvious by the end of first volume.

Do you have it in English? Did you have to pay for it? 22 volumes? Wow, I've been buying it for $10 a book and they only have up to the 10th volume here.
Looks like I need some help here. I REALLY liked hana kimi but then my download source was "missing". When I found another source it was too late for me cause it got too far, I've lost lots of volumes. Anybody knows of an active source to download this manga from chapter 12 T_T.

Yes. :) I love Hana-Kimi! It's so cute, sweet, and funny at the same time! I love the artwork and I'm addicted to the story/characters. I particularly like Sano, for some reason. I think just because he comes across as so serious and has a really dry/sarcastic sense of humour, but he changes quite a lot around Mizuki. He's actually sweet and protective, which I find endearing. Mizuki's adorable, too, and she's equally protective of Sano in her own way. I would like to see them finally get together. o.o

Nakatsu and Umeda have always been my favorites. And Taiki (the psychic one)! I always end up loving the obscure characters...
Hana-Kimi is ideal shojou because the female character is strong, bishi are abound, and it has wonderful lessons about love, I think. It also has a little bit of everything, and I love how the traditions of Japan and the U.S. clash once and a while in some of the stories. Though, I tihnk the author has an odd sense of what American culture is like, because some of the things Mizuki explains and things sound a little off to me.
For example, in teh beginning of the third volume when they're going on summer vacation she mentions that exams in the U.S. are "open book/ open notebook" tests. Either I'm in the wrong school or the author really thinks the U.S. School System is that simple, either way it's a wrong assumption.
And if it's true in any school district I am going to freakin' MOVE there pronto.
P.S. Whtmage, love your siggy ;)

Well, i read hanakimi over a year ago (all 23 volumes in 2 days on pc... you can imagine my headache). pretty good manga, funny characters (umeda-sensei ^^) and never boring. but it really sucks that the charadesign loses nearly all of its expressions and beauty, that the only manko of hana kimi.
as a german girl i really like oscar who speaks a quite cruel german (like momiji in furuba) horrible but funny. and nakatsu who thinks he's gay since he fell in love with mizuki... and sano... and shin... ok i have to stop.
in my opinion everybody should read hana kimi and really though guys continue with hana yori dango (36 wonderful volumes) ^^

I liked Hana Kimi, Umeda-sensei and Kayashima were my favourites XD The series did get dragged on for a while though, and the first ending (not extended) was... crap. Thank god for the extended (though still not much) and that cute wedding special :)
Was a good series and my first girl crossdressing as a boy manga :)

I really like Hanakimi manga. It started off really great and while toward the end it got a bit draggy, overall it was a nice series and nice ending. One of my favorite shoujo mangas.
