Harry Potter banned?!
Well then, if Harry Potter should be banned because it promotes witchcraft, then we should remove any book that promotes Christanity, Islam, Judaism, and any other religion that the U.S. Supreme Court and military recognizes. That's the stupidest bullcrap that I've ever heard of in my entire life. In my mind, those people need to be shot- can't they tell that the book is fiction? (For those you don't know, not real). I mean, can't the uptight morons understand that the series is not about witchcraft? There are many underlying meanings that J.K. Rowling puts in the novels, like the connections to Nazis and terrorists. (Please tell me that I'm not the only one who sees that?) Also, there is the morals that are predominate- loyalty, courage, and the good inside of all of us. It's terrible of the fact that people are too narrow-minded to see that.
All im going to say is look what happen to the smurfs if your old enough to remember that far back people need to loosen up

In my opinion, these people are banning things just for the publicity. Nothing is wrong with harry potter series and whoever thinks about witchcraft have a fragile mind who cannot read a fictional book. People take these too seriously and they need to know where to draw the line between reality and imagination.
That's news O.O...
Anyway, I think there's something about Harry Potter that I don't like, but it isn't with witchraft or anything ridiculous as that! I think that the more HP J.K. writes, she seems to make them more and more adult. For example, she uses the word snog in her latest book, and those of s who know what it means, it's a pretty inappropriate word to put into a book that A LOT of kids like reading. Plus, I don't read her books any longer because I don't find HP a brave chracter any longer-he's so paranoid >.>.

Well... it is in fact surprising...
If people are afraid from witchcraft (and all related things...) they just have to explain to their chidren that Harry Potter is just fictional... parents are responsible for their children...
Ban Harry Potter... I thought that it was a joke !

I wonder what those people real intent was to ban the book?
maybe it was more politcally motivated... i dont know. But there must be a reason for why they feel so strongly about banning it. Some school libraries have books on witchcraft and so on... humm

Personally I really don't care for H.P. in fact I think they should ban him... all he does is keep coming back in those HOUR LONG MOVIES.
Oh noez! Look at me! I'm going all gothic and witchy from being a HP fan! Someone stop me before I go jump off a building with a broom...

How cares
it is only a f**king book
and people that get all what the F**K over a kids book is really over sensitive.
the only reason i am saying this is becuase people(not you all) who look at something simple and not bad at all and thinks as it has something bad and turns it bad to get others to agree with them.
are just over sensitive, control hungry, over protective, stupid, f**king assholes.(there might be more for the list later)
(if you disagree with me, do not bitch to me. you can bitch but not to me)

Good. . . i hate harry potter. . . and it's written by a friggen witch
I agree that it's quite a dumb thing to BAN harry potter. it's a very popular FICTIONAL story about wizards, , magic, and spells. As for supporting the occult, not really, as generally a children's book.. what kid DOESN"T wanna be a witch or wizard and learn magic? lol.. NONE..
and schools weren't/aren't the only ones who ban or discredit HP for its witchcraft. there were even some churches (or religious people) that will NOT read HP for the simple fact that it deals with the occult. which i personally think is absurd because it's a fictional book that one is just supposed to have fun reading! even if you're a die-hard christian, reading HP is NOT gonna turn you into a witch or stray you from your religious path (unless you WANNA stray but even so, HP is not gonna do it alone).
And like JOYLNDA said.. the book contains MANY great things within its pages. It's always about the struggle b/t good and evil, friendship and loyalty, strength of heart and belief in yourself, etc etc. Those are wonderful things that the books show.. although some churches discredit it, there are some that actually USE IT (like reading it to the younger children) bc there are many things that can actually relate to christianity...

Well this is something that definatly show how religion can easily get out of hand. first it's just a story, Second its a parrents responsibility to keep track of their kids intrests, and third being able to see mroe than one view is good for people. I would worry as a parent if my kids started to practice sayances in their bedroom but how many of these kids think magic is a thing to be used mostly to help people? It's kinda like guns, responsiable use is a larger issue than getting rid of it.
This kinda remids me of how my parrents wouldn't let me get NEAR anime wehn i was younger and it had the influence of eastern religions in it. As far as they were concerned it wasn't american and christian so it was EVIL! Lol, lucky me i never lost my intrest and after turning 15 they began to gradually lose their grasp of control over the content i watched. Yea now that i have been watching anime for some 4 years now with no lost intrest i realise there is asian religion influence but i've looked into the religions and they just take a different view.
Now let me think what was that thing that both the HP books and my parrents view of foregin religion had in common?.... Oh yea neither of them have you worshiping christ! Figures in the end after being forced to be "a good christian boy" i became a person who favors atheism because of their religious restraint.
Think this process might repeat itself for other kids?
