After months of work, chanelqueen17 has created a gorgeous scene of Alice and Oz from Pandora Hearts, using scans that didn't even feature both characters together. Even after spending so much time on matching the details of the characters to their new looks, chanelqueen17 didn't stop there and went all out on the background too! This wallpaper definitely needs to be seen!

I never expected such a grudge against Harry Potter in the USA... tell me,... are those guyz crazy or what? Well I just came here very late into this thrread, so I don't know the details from the first posts, and I don't wanna go throught the whole thread just to discover the reason,... so anybody,... anybody. Pleaze tell me a quick review about the reasons for banning Harry Potter?

I am a fan of this book, and I even read it in it's English version despite being Germany born. Why would people wanna ban Harry Potter...? I didn't expect the US-Government going this far... really

Well, guess it was bound to happen. They had to ban the Pokemon Trading Card Game from schools a few years back. Guess both parents and teachers (the first ones the most) need to educate the kids correctly and how to behave in withc places.

Absolutely freaky. Taking away something like that is taking away the childs/person imagination @~1@.

Even if Potter isn't that good a book, it doesn't exactly encourage us into satanic views, does it o_O

Religious groups are the ones behind the bannings. The goverment isnt responsable.

Crazy. i kinda understand where these parents are coming from but it bothers me that there's always a group of parents somewhere making trouble for whatever reason. sometimes i try and picture where the world would be without these right-wing groups, probably in total chaos, but who really knows. it's so easy to offend people, my question is, if there's at least one group of people offended by something, will there be anything left for people do? thank god they can only slightly dictate what we do in our own homes.....

I think is f***ing overreacting its not like reading the books is learning them how to worship satan x)

and the ouija board or tarro cards look innocent too... and wow the ouija board has a demonic seal on it....

the satanic bible looks innocent to those who dont knwo what it is ... until they dive in.

Remember thieves dont start stealing cars as their first .. act of thief... they start little and work big.

That is the key to witchcraft... give him some bait... drag him in when he bites hard.

Also, those who know and have heard about Dungens and Dragons have not heard the other side of the story.
D &D puts a warning in their manual... It is written by those who actively use the Book Of Satan aka Satanic Bible... and D&D refers to Satanic bible in some of its text.

This looks innocent till you really know what it going on.

Turning a blind eye to witchcraft doesnt stop it from moving forward. If you walk infront of a car and close your eye when it is coming at you... doesnt stop it.

Please note: I am not even slightly afraid of witchcraft or such... i have to deal with it face on every week .. either when we get the demon of Divination, wicthcraft or soothdaying out of people... and they are some ugly demons. See them with my own eyes.. specifically Infermity.

Are you serious, god i hope not? lol

Its just a ouija board or tarro cards. The person is what takes it too far. Those are just objects. If your not some mindless idiot, know right from wrong and have a good head on your shoulders, those things wont harm you including harry potter. Also not all witchcraft is about being evil. Look a little more into it, besides what your bible tells you.

I find the whole thing very silly.
I am Christian myself, and I see no problem with reading Harry Potter. Heck, my mom, who won't even watch Miyazaki cause they do "magic", reads Harry Potter.
I could see kids wanting to learn witchcraft because of harry potter, but the book itself does not teach kids how to do witchcraft. Many of the spells Rowling uses are Latin based or made up.

Also, this line really irked me:
he fact that author J.K. Rowling's stories are not based on Judeo-Christian ethics. "When we read Rowling's series, we find that she effectively divorces power from authority," the article stated. "There is no sovereign person or principle governing the use of power. Magical power is gained through inheritance and learning. It is not granted by a Higher Authority, because there is no Higher Authority - at least none higher than Harry's mentor, Albus Dumbledore, and the evil Lord Voldemort."

You have to remember that HP is FICTION. It's a magical world, and some of its rules may be different or may not apply to the Christian rules. Also, I wasn't aware that Rowling was religious. If Rowling were religious perhaps Judeo-Christian ethics would be present, but Rowling isn't religious, so it would make sense that her books do not contain Christian ideas.

If they're so worried about preserving Judeo-Christian ethics in schools perhaps they should focus on getting rid of the ban on Bibles in public school and leave HP alone.

----

I also think that it's the fault of the parents if their kids decide to try out magic and believe any of this stuff. Parents should teach their kids to be aware that the book is merely fiction and some of the things in it are make believe-- like the magic the kids use.
It's not fair to blame the book for the lack of parental control and discipline of the parents to their children. Parents need to be more responsible in teaching their kids truth from fiction. And shutting them away from fiction is not the answer.

---
edit: Just a question.
How many of you played pretend when you were little. You pretended to be power rangers or superheroes and whatnot. Now, do you actually believe you could become a power ranger or a superhero nowdays, even though they're not really real?
Didn't think so.

So little kids may be pretending their witches or wizards. So let them pretend.
Sooner or later they'll grow out of it anyway. And if they don't, it's the parents' responsibility to remind them that's merely fiction and not real.

It's just disgusting how everyone tries to take the blame off of themself and place it on something that can't defend itself, like a book.

Aha, thank you for the detailed Information... I really don't have the time to glare at every single thread with many pages, from the beginning... So religious groups, eh?... Since I don't go to Church anymore, I feel as no one, neither Catholic nor Evangelic... Humans are Humans no matter their religion...

Here again, certain groups are trying to spoil the fun for certain Fangroups, just to seek for ackknnowledgement by the society... I don't have the time to write any detailed opinion about that yet but I'll actually come back to that later...

remember if you push a rock down a hill with the intention of it only going half way.. sometimes things get out of control and it rolls all the way down.

you can know right from wrong but still get hit by a car.

you can know right from wrong and radiation will still hurt you if you get too much of it.

If you eat mc donalds.. you knwo to control yourself... but people still have side efffects [weight gain] no matter if you know right from wrong.. you still have side effects.

If someone knows right from wrong they would know anyform of witchcraft is like pushing that rock down a hill... sometimes it does out of control... nomatter if you think positively abotu taht rock.

and i know that you believe there is white and black magic .. and those who toy with it for fun.

I dont need the bible to tell me one way or another about witchcraft... i see how it devastates lives and how i get to get those demons out of people... i have seen how the ouija board or tarro cards distroys people lttle by little first hand experience... i dont need the Bible to be my only info.. i have first hand proof.

If someone is getting messed up over a ouija board, it aint the ouija board. They're messed up in the first place. Your projecting you beliefs onto wiccas. Im sorry they're not all bad. Yes there always ones that let it run their lives(or take it too far), but the holy rollers do the same. I know some wiccas and their not all black magic practicers. They're some good and down to earth ppl.

So im guessing your for the banning of Harry potter?

Ohh I'm reminded of south parks drug guy (Drugs are bad m'kay?) when I say Witchcraft is bad m'kay?

They are just stupid...I went to a private, lutheran school. Know what they said? They read the books, they are mechanical magic (hero saves the world, fights a few dragons, stuff like that). They were also happy with it because children were reading!

What do you have to say about that California??

I have friends who are wiccans. It's actually a religion of some sort isnt it? They have their own seperate higher deities and such.

You know what I think we should ban? Little Red Riding Hood and all those childhood stories because in reality theyre implicating sex (especially Little Red Ridinghood) along with the Nursary Rhymes and children playground songs that talk about the Black Plague and dropping a baby from a tree. And DISNEY for having EVERYTHING put into one. (Macbeth is not for 5 year olds and add the subliminal message and it's worse.) Why don't we see a banning to Disney anytime soon? OMG fish people under the sea? (Little Mermaid) A demigod whose father is the ultimate god? MORE THAN ONE GOD?! (Disney's Hercules) OMG BAN them all, those heretics! >_>
