Harry Potter banned?!
NatsumiLammost wiccans dont even acknowledge satan

Should we all acknowledge Satan? I can name a few religions that dont either.
And most wiccans I know study WHITE magic which is incents, candles, and good luck charms from wht I can see lol. It's not like Harry Potter makes Voldemort the hero of the story or something. (*gasp said his name.) Obviously the idea of evil exists in that world- as opposed to Harry, the hero and good little wizard? XD

WOW... that was a special question... what does that have to do with anything?
but they do make harry potter the hero.. if you want to go down that road.
ask yourself... are their good demons?

Harry Potter is a demon? Okay, fictional, but he's got special powers and such casted by encantations. That makes the Xmen and the Fantastic Four and Pokemon horrific demons as well. OMG Meowth can speak so he's like a SUPER demon. No one complained about the movie HELLBOY which was about a demon-like thing that fought on the side of good. There's an exception right there. XD Do we hear the religious people attack that movie? No because it had like zero impact on their kids (crap movie? XD) and is long forgotten anyway.
Oh and I don't believe in demons. Now what will you do? ^^; Kinda screws their argument over now huh?

please stay with me... i was making a comparison to evil vs not evil.
quote where i said harry potter is a demon ?
Good witch vs bad witch... all are witches all practice witchcraft... a curse is promised to befall such things... i dont care about only looking at the bible.... when i see dozens of people ripped appart mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and sometimes physically because of witchcraft [good or bad in intentions] ... that is proof enough.
and as far as your not believing in demons ... its fine with me if you need to see something first to believe it. and secondly, you dont have to believe in radiation for it to kill you.

Ah but the idea of witchcraft started because people didnâ??t believe in healers and such. Our imagination has led to the thought of "witchcraft" being a bad thing. During the trials of Salem, people who were jealous of one another were screaming witch left and right, and a lot of healers were deemed "witches" because they did incredible things that normal people thought were too fantastic to be human-like. And hey there are good witches: The Wizard of Oz's The Good Witch of the North lady.. Why hasnâ??t this movie been flamed yet? What you call black magic some people might call medicine or voodoo. It's all interpretation. Ok so voodoo isnâ??t a positive thing to most people but it is a derivative of the world's oldest known religions which have been around in Africa since the beginning of human civilization. I think the term WIZARD has more of a positive aura to it for Merlin was King Arthur's principal advisor, sorcerer, court wizard, and prophet and I donâ??t see people flaming him. It's the term "WITCHES" and oh look, theyâ??re all female... Just like most of the victims of Salem... Interesting...
And what you said about people being physically, mentally, and spiritually affected by witchcraft... I'm not going to judge whether the source came from truly witchcraft or not, but all I have to say is that there are two sides to everything. There can be another side to what you deem evil. Medicine and technology for example is a wonderful thing that brought longer lifespan, sliced bread and microwaves. Along with that came Nuclear bombs, faster killing civilization annihilation processes and all the good things you hear on the ten o clock news. It is once again, a matter of interpretation and perspective.

Harry Potter = evil always amused me to no end. What I always found amusing is that people who condemn Harry Potter on one hand are perfectly capable of raising The Chronicles of Narnia to the highest heights. It's becuase of perception. The Chronicles of Narnia has plenty of talking beasts and magic galore, but since Aslen is a allegory for Jesus and C.S Lewis is a very well known Christian scholar, it's alright. So apparently, magic is fine so long as it's used to promote Christian values. The thing is: Harry Potter promotes loyalty, goodness, friendship, honesty and all that lovely stuff. Hmm...those all seem to coincide with good morality, and Harry I find is a much more loveable hero than Peter from Narnia. My biggest gripe with Narnia was the ultra-good, almost inhuman characters. The fact is that there is nothing wrong with Harry Potter. Children have the ability of distinguishing between reality and fantasy...and even if magic WERE to exist in the world, nothing is inherently evil. It's how you choose to use magic.. much like technology. Perhaps if Harry used super technology as opposed to magic, the books would be widely more acceptable, but no call it by the name "magic" and you're worshipping Satan. ^^;; Also popularilty has a lot to do with it. I don't see anyone banning Philip Pullman's His Dark Material's series...and in that one God is actually evil(or rather he's dying and his successor the Metatron is evil). It's fairly popular, but as pervasive as Harry Potter so no mass bannings for His Dark Materials.
My favorite people in this world are of course those Christian fanatics who buy tons of HP books and do mass burnings. With all the severely under-funded charities in this world; they think the best use of their money is buying mass quantites of a harmless children book and burning them. O_o.

Haha, this is an halarious saying. Harry Potter banned? It's like the same with them critizing Video Games for being too Violent, when it's up to the kid to choose wheter he wants to be evil.
I think it is sad when people buy a whole group of books and burn them hahha well i think it is going a little too far. haha

*speechless*
i mean y!
it is just a source of entertainment..
and it is obviously things in there arent really..
however kids are still dumb wouldnt know wat is right and wrong
and they follow everything they see and believing it is true
so in a way of banning it is good...
in a way it is bad its that the kids would miss out alot on childhood stuff ?

It's just a case of some small fraction of super conservative (probably overly religious) wack jobs... and California is full of wacky people... but I'm a little surprised it's there and not some bible belt southern state... anyway, banning books is just stupid to begin with... it doesn't stop people from reading them... they'll just have to read it outside of the school. big - friggin - deal.
funny thing about burning the books... they still have to buy them first! then burn them... so after the publisher an dthe author makes their money on the sale they could proabbaly care less what somone does with the book - they got their profit already! DOH! ;o)
and they'd never be able to buy and then burn enough of the books to make a dent in the overall print run of the book - especially a book like Harry Potter...
and look at it this way - if they *could* manage to make a dent in the number of books vs. the number they've burned... it will backfire (pun!) on them because of the spike in sales of the book would trigger an additional print run - so even more books would be printed and shipped out to the stores!!! isn't that ironic?!
then is that werent' enough.. by placing public bans on things be it books , music CDs, movies... all they ends up happening is they generate even more public knowledge about the item so even more people want to get ahold of it to see what all the hub bub is about... again by banning something they end up causing more people to be "exposed" to it!! ironic again!
look at the warning labels they put on music CDs... the ones WITH the labels far outsell the [censored] ones without the labels (of the same CD)...
it's just human nature - is someone or some group is trying ot block you from seeing, hearing, or reading something the natural reaction for most people is that you are going to want to see, hear, read it even more then if no one said anything about it...
whaen will these idiots ever learn?!...
oh well... I wouldn't worry about it - the ban will have exactally ZERO effect overall...

Oh, but I've seen guide books of "VOODOO" (yes, Voodoo. Kind of part of witchcrafty) with the doll and the pins and how to use them agaisnt people that stress you. They let THAT in the bookstores yet they ban a fictional book about some wizards in the schools? (a book that by the way made a lot of children interested in reading books in my school) why not go all the way and ban ROL-games and The Lord of The Rings and all the fantasy books I see in the stores?
Please, parents, be RESPONSIBLE of your own children. If you don't want them to read or watch something, don't let them. If they don't listen to you (meaning you're not doing a great job being a parent) then impose yourself on them. YOU are paying, YOU are the one keeping them off poverty, YOU are the adult, DO SOMETHING and stop blaming some invisble outside forces for your kid being a spoiled little brat.

I don't think it should be banned at all, I mean, yes I understand that it has that oh so SPOOKY word in it "witchcraft", but there is no need to freak out right?
It's an excellent story, and a really good read, but some people can't seem to put aside their differences, or in this case beliefs, and just enjoy a good story...thats what I think about this whole thing.

In my opinion banning books for any reason is an extremely narrow minded thing to do... I understand that many people have their own views about things and would rather not deal with it, but why should they deprive the rest of the world from it?
If they don't like the book they simply shouldn't read it, let their kids make their own decisions. It's not our falt they're afraid of books.

I think the mayor is an author and he's jealous. Personally, I wouldn't care, but if I was a big fan, I'd move. Or illegally read it. Which reminds me. There's this Chinese kids at school, and he was walking around with the chinese version of Goblet of Fire.
