This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

Has anyone seen Genshiken? When I watched it, it was crazy being able to relate not only to the story, but to the characters as well...especially if you're an otaku. It made me want to go to Akihabara more!!

I thought Genshiken was great, too. I wish they would make a real Kujibuki Unbalance full series! I think it would be fun. Yeah I liked seeing the comic convention and all the neato shops with the doujinshi and figures. I wish my school had a club like that, although that room might be way too small for all the people I know that would want to join it. ^_^

I never actually seen the Genshiken anime but I read the first volume of the manga. In my opinion, it was OK. Though, it could have had a bit more intresting characters in it...I'llgive the anime a shot sometime or later.

It was pretty good. It could've been great if it wasn't for the slow pacing. They could've done a lot more with the series. I mean with good cast of characters and a potentially interesting setting, the posibilities were endless.

I thought that Genshiken was okay as well and like what hoonster had said... the series is kinda slow paced..and the series itself was only 13 episodes so that left a lot of gaps to be filled with possibilities. What I liked about the series was how real it was in terms of reality. I kinda found myself relating to Ohno a lot...

This series actually makes me yearn for the ability to go to a Con and cosplay though..

I've been such an otaku for such a long time and have yet to still go to a con... hen dai yo ne?

I have to say that I picked up the first volume of the Genshiken anime as a part of an impulse buy and I wasn't really all that impressed with the first four episodes because it seemed like there was no direction and the characters seemed a little short-sighted. But, after picking up the second volume I noticed that there was a huge jump in the growth of these characters. While I've yet to pick up the third volume I did hear that Genshiken was returning for a second season worth of episodes.

I would definitely be excited if there was a second season of Genshiken...I really enjoyed the first season but I do agree that character development and growth took a long time, especially for a 13 episode series. I didn't mind the speed; I think that added to both the humor and the realism of the characters, but I did wish it didn't end when it did. There are definitely a lot more stories they could tell with any of the characters.

It also really made me want to visit Japan...so for all those of you who actually can go...so jealous!
Haven't been to a con either, and missed a recent chance to go.

Although I liked the Kujibiki Unbalance music a lot, I can't agree that it would be really worth a full series. I wasn't the hugest fan of the characters, and after watching one episode of the OVA, I wasn't that intrigued.

Actually, there are only 12 episodes, according to the Region 1 DVD's. At any rate, Genshiken has been renewed for a second season.

When's the second season due for release?

I felt awful seeing Saki-chan accidentally burning all that otaku treasure T_T Hahaha the cat ears suits her a lot though ^_^ I envy them for all those comikets they were able to go to...I haven't been to one either. And anime stores here are, well, there's not much to see... Hahaha I want to go to Akiba!

All my guy friends who watch anime recommended me this series cause they know I love anime (prolly the only girl around them who actually watch animes). I gave it a try but didn't really see anything special. Well some parts are funny..
I tried reading the manga thinking it would be better, but it was even less enjoyable.
I ended up watching the whole series just to know how it goes.

Lucky it was a short one.. ^^"

From what I've heard, Media Factory has announced ata Comiket 69 that the second season is supposed to debut in October. This news information item comes from the "Anime News Network" website. You're welcome, as well.

I really enjoy Genshiken anime and the manga is even better - their individual personalities are better fleshed out in the manga. I love how it shows that there are many different kinds of geeks and some don't look like a geek but still is, like Kosaka...

I wish the anime series was a bit longer though...I'm glad to hear there will be second part.

Glad you guys are excited over this news but I'm quite surprised that it's taking so long for them to release the second season.

I hope the second season's good. And that it shows more of how anime fans are hehe. People who has friends who don't understand them (regarding anime and whatnot) should make their friends watch Genshiken as a primer. Kinda like Otaku 101.
