best vampire anime tv series?

I confess i havent seen any vampire anime before, other than blood: the last vampire (ok, but not great). so whats peoples favourites? tv series, not movies. and what should i definately avoid?

I second Hellsing. And although I didn't like it so much, you could check out Vampire Princess Miyu (a short OAV series) or Vampire Hunter D and uh.. isn't there a vampire in Tsukihime? XD I don't know too much about vampire anime either...

Hellsing was pretty neat. Not too deep, but it was entertaining. I honestly can't think of any other actual vampire anime series I've seen.

Hellsing is the best in this category simply because of the main charecter, wich is the FIRST vampire that isn't:
Grunge, Gothic, or kinda girly
If you haven't watched Hellsing, just see the first ep and you'l see what I mean
Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust is worth it for some very cool scenes (and music) but nothing that will blow you away. O yeah, and its only available in sucky english dub

I think it was Vampire Princess Miyu. I was watching it long time ago, but till now I cannot forget these fishes going out fro the walls.

Shingetsutan Tsukihime is a very good show, and it has a vamp... so watch it! :faint:

Hellsing. First of all, like S_X said, Hellsing has a vampire that actually looks and acts like a vampire. Second, the series aren't like the usual anime series where there's fanservice or comic scenes in them, this is a completely serious series that'll blow you away. It's kinda like evangelion, in terms of how it makes your brain work. Unfortunately for me both evangelion and hellsing made me walk around being all stoned and stuff. '-.-

Everyone seems to have forgotted about Master of Mosquiton. I'm sure he (Mosquiton) must be crying in his coffin since he has been left out of the whole vampire deal.

Most likeely Hellsing but outside of actual shows there is this awesome manga out called lament of the lamb which recently came out i think.....check it out if you havent
