This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

I originally posted this in the music section but it didn't get any responces so I though I would post it here too. I mean, it is about games.

I know when people usualy play a game they don't tend to think about the music in the background. I however, love some of the music they have in certain games.

I have recently downloaded the music torrents of "FF7 Voice of the Lifestream and the music files for "Grandia" and "Grandia 2." After listening to them for a while, I've got to say that most of them are really amazing! If you really like instrumental game music, then you'll love these.

Anyway, I downloaded most of the Grandia music and all of the FF7 music as well. I will say that I didn't find the jazzy renditions of the music very good at all especially Tifa's theme. Tifa is my favorite FF character, and I can't stand it when they ruin her theme. Rrrrrrrrrrrr...

The Grandia music was awesome (of course) just like the game but Grandia 2's music seemed to be somewhat lacking except for a few songs.

If you want to know where to find them then you'll have to ask me personally."

If the music is good in a game, my appreciation for the game goes way up. Two games I'm playing right now have AMAZING scores. The first is Blue Dragon and well, Nobuo Uematsu is just pretty much a god. And the second is Eternal Sonata which has a lot of Chopin (duh, cus the game is about him) and music made in the vein of Chopin. I'm also a big fan of Koji Kondo's music from the Legend of Zelda. OoT has to have one of the best scores ever.

Like ForHeisZombie, I respect a lot of games which has good music. I'm always amazed of old FF -musics (<-FFIX) to the point I would be ready to marry Nobuo Uematsu. Also the Legend of Zelda -serie's musics are so freaking amazing that I become a puddle of goo after playing the games.
Then there are something I don't really like; when gamehouse has two games which's sound-world sounds the same; Star Ocean i (old) and Valkyrie Profile 2 (pretty new); composer is the same but STILL. They are entirely different games and I never see the difference between them. Even the tiniest 'bleep' sounds and such are pretty much the same as in Star Ocean i. I'm not fond of VP because of this thing. :7

I think music plays a very important part in the overal gaming experience. I enjoyed the Final Fantasy series alot due partially to the music in the background. If the music is able to convey the emotions the characters are going through, such as sadness, or anger, it makes the experience alot more memorable. If you listen to the original soundtrack, and can recall exactly the events which transpired while the music is playing, I'd say the music was a succesful one.

For example Xenosaga 3, I find it's music to be particularly appropriate for the storyline somehow, with it's bittersweet themes. Even now 6 months after completing ths game, whenever I listen to the ending theme Hepatica, I'd be strongly reminded of the last few minutes of the ending movie where Kos-mos is seen floating somewhere in deep space with only half her torso left.

Music and sound effects give the game soul. Even for FPS games like Bioshock, the background music and effects really give the surroundings life. Even more so when the music you hear is from an in-game element like a radio or disk player and has 3d position effects.

The soundtracks are great while programming .. especially the FF piano collections.

I'm not much for single player games these days, as they don't really interest me anymore. However, back in the day, games like Final Fantasy series and Secret of Mana series I thought had great music. Even moving to the PlayStation and Nintendo64 I was really into the music of the console games.

PC games, on the other hand, I could never get into the music as much. When you think about it, though, PC gaming complexity had increased significantly, where concentration was a must, thus something droning on in the background could easily become distracting, since many of the games I played were RTS or FPS types.

Once the MMORPG came around, I'll admit, Ragnarok and Everquest really had some great music going. The only problem was, these games you were in for the long haul, not 80-120 hours. Also, you could easily spend huge amounts of time in similar areas, so the music would get repetitive and boring.

My main game these days, Final Fantasy XI, has an absolute amazing sound track, which I own and even listen to in my car. I have a hard time listening to it in game though, as it's not enough variation for the extended hours you end up playing.

Bioshock has some great music, I almost forgot. A lot of it is so moody and atmospheric, it just helps push the tension in the game even more. When music does that, it really pushes a game up to the next level.

Probably I will repeat the same but the music and sound effects are important for a game, there is the old problem of games with bad and monotone music. To purevil89: I love the Pokemon music, especially the battle theme against gym leaders, elite four and legue champions.

Yeah for me their's nothing like good music to help you get motivated to play the game.

I've only seen one Zelda game ever being played and that was "Wind Waker" I really loved the music in that game, especially when the little leaf people played their cute little violins.

And to Sayuru - I Agree with you on the Secret of Mana music. I absolutely loved it, especially the music for the snow country.

From what you guys have said so far is that - Zelda, Pokemon, and FFIX have great soundtracks. What I want to know is witch Zelda and Pokemon games are you referring too? They all have different music I hope?

I simply love the music from some games, even old games, and I'm very happy when I find remixes of them.

Some game music I like include Chrono Trigger, The Dig and Tetris.

Yes music plays a big part in deepening the atmosphere of game scenarios like dungeons. Also it makes cutscenes more dramatically.
Games like Resident evil were way worse without the background music.
Also some game OSTs are really worth to listen to in your free time aswell, like the FF, KH or Zelda music.

I'm agree with Grandia's 2 more songs

Music is basic in a video game, I like so much Nobuo Uematsu music (FF series) some from Chrono trigger and some from Chrono cross.

I will have to listen, because the original Tifa's theme is great.

Final Fantasy music rocks. Every song is so well composed, listening to it again makes you think you're replaying the game
