Blackouts

Well, summer is already here in Canada
(so it should be steaming for you guys down the south ^^)
And people are turning on their air conditioners at full power.
Aint this the great time for blackouts?
My favorite experience with blackout is...
when I lived in Korea, it was summer...
there was blackout in condo I lived in, so everyone went outside...
apparently, some girl was inside the elevator when blackout happend...
she got stuck there for couple hours -_-
We had no time, so we decided to go to the movies.
We watched "Starship Troopers".
I was 8 years old.
Man, isn't it annoying when you beat a level in a game,
you're like 2 seconds away from saving, and boom, blackout.
I had beaten God of War and it happened.
You shoulda seen my face.
So, any fun blackout stories?
I'm posting this thread cuz I just had one.

I love blackouts! I remember once a couple of years ago there was a big on on the University of Southern California's campus, and my whole dorm went dark. People were running around freaking out (in a good WOOHOO way) and we started playing flashlight tag went downstairs to the fireplace. Tons of fun. I do hear you though, that if I was playing a game and that happend it would suck so much, especially since I have a tendency to play long hours without saving. Also blackouts are only fun at night, as opposed to the day when they just cause a lot of boredom.

Blackouts. Ah, yes.
I'd written more than 30 pages of this story. It was done. I was editing it, I saved it, and the instant I clicked the SAVE button, the power conked out. When I opened the whole thing again, it had been corrupted. XD Don't ask; I don't know how.
I also remember how once, when I was a kid, there was a typhoon. Naturally, it knocked the electricity out. We were still living with all my cousins, and one of them was being scolded for not doing so well in school. And I was like, "Hey, the floor's wet." It was flooding! XD So we moved up to the second floor. We piled all the pillows in one huge mountain on top of the bed, we kids, and we climbed on top of that mountain and slept.
No water for three days, no electricity for a week. Then the electricity came back on New Year's Day. :D

We always have blackouts here in the Philippines. Everytime it rains hard and Usually lasts about 2 to 3 hours. We look like drug addicts gone broke here when there is a blackout. It's like, we can't live without electricity.
Hi guys! I remember a big blackout that left almost three states without electricity for hours. I'll always remember that because it was summer in the night and we were about 30° C, we couldn't sleep that night. Nevertheless I like blackouts (sometimes) and more if there's a beautiful full moon.
See ya... ^_^
See ya... ^_^
I do so love blackouts especially if its a little over half the city. When you go outside and look up at the sky you can see the milky way. I'll never forget that it was so amazing. That and playing hide and seek is so much fun.=^.^=
Blackouts arent cool...especially when most of your entertainment needs electricity to operate. On the other hand i have had a wild time a a party when a blackout happened. Lets just say and orgy-look-a-like 'thing' was freeky to watch lol

Kababayan. XD I'm from the Philippines, too. ^_^ I guess things do get a bit messed-up when there are blackouts, but nothing that drastic. Usually. XD
Dang, now I just remembered...Some of my relatives used to have this huge old house in front of a cemetery. O_o There was a huge sugarcane field in between the house and the cemetery, with only a small road going through the field. There were huge acacia trees on either side of the road...And when blackouts would happen, the whole place would be pitch-black. They'd have to walk through the cemetery and down the road through the field and trees just to get home. o_O

We always have blackouts in the Bahamas (our electrical company sucks... seriously) so I'm indifferent to them. They can be sooo boring...

Hate it. It can be really hot cause I can't on my airconditioner or even my fan =.= But its kinda fun though, I can try seeing things using the candles only! XD
Blackouts are effing annoying; esp in Texas where it's constantly 100+ degrees outside. Luckily for me, my house is pretty massive so it stays cool a bloody long time during blackouts. But in anycase, there's nothing to do when there is a blackout...esp at night when you can't even turn on lights to read or something. It makes a boring summer even more boring.
Black outs where i live dont usually last long here. 1-2 max. We had a couple last about 12 hours, but nothing longer than that. I think there kinda cool. Its nice to hear nothing but peace and quiet for awhile. Though they do kinda suck when it hot out. I hate the heat.

Gross if you think about it some times but funny ^.^
I hate blackouts!! >_<
We've had some laughs b/c of blackouts...Since I'm afraid of the dark I tend to get really scared especially when its a b lackout at nighttime.
There haan't, however, been a blackout for some time though (*which is a releave*)
Its annoying though when your on the computer or playing a videogame and the power goes off (of course that doens't matter at the time...I just panic and run out of my room so I'm not alone ^^') then you loses anything you were doing >_> It stinks...

XDDDDDDDDD I cannot count the number of times that sort of thing has happened to me... Hasn't happened in awhile, but when its storming really bad outside I usualy start playing games... and they always are the important ones to me... I get really far and before I can save the power goes out ;_; (this happening on Paper Mario and Kingdom Hearts are what stick out the most).
The worst time was probably 2 years ago when we had a bad storm summer where it rained all the friggen time and the storms were evil. Quite a few times the power went out, but it was only bad one day. It was about... it was between 11 PM - 2 AM. The power went out, and it was VERY hot and VERY humid outside, and I was instantly miserable the moment the fan went off (and I dont like the dark in my grandparents house, because its pitchblack and i tend to hit unpleasent things lying on the floor (the alarm clock went out as well)).
It probably was over 80 F the next morning and beyond humid. Was about 10 AM when the power came back on, right before I was about to cry because I was deathly miserable...
Hasn't blacked out since Feburary/March I dont think. It was from 11 PM - Midnight for no apparent reason (could've been some unplanned late-night matienence) And it was cold ;_; Least the fire was still going.
But that was all at my grandparents. They live out in the country, and most blackouts are from storm-related incidents, and aren't too often at all (maybe... 1 really bad one every other year and a couple of tine short ones every year).
At home blackouts are very rare, but a few months ago there was an electromagnetic imbalance in the atmosphere that caused alot of the unstable transformers to blow up, I saw two of the go in one night... One of those exploded bad XDD Giant spark shower of doom.
The 2nd one I saw was really close to home, and it was probably the one that brought the power to my house, so we had a black out for about 10 minutes... Which was bad because our house too is pitch-black when dark (and no street light on either). Thats the only blackout we've gone thru in this house, oh wait. There was one when I wasnt here... but I wasnt here xD
Though the most inconvient blackout ever was in 2004 on Superbowl Sunday xD It was raining (not storming, raining) and there were 2 minutes left in the game when the power went out xDD Everyone was running out to their cars to turn on the radio xDDD Stayed off for nearly an hour... and I was in the shower when it went off... so I wasnt happy at all XP
Oh yes, and MANY blackouts at school, there was atleast one big one a year at my middle school
