whats your favourite japanese food??
God, what's not to like about Japanese food. Being a vegetarian limits my options somewhat, but luckily there are enough alternatives for meat used in Japanese dishes. For example a nikuman filled with tofu and a sauce that resembles the one used in a traditional pork nikuman is exceptionally nice. There's the hiyachi chuka (cold ramen noodle), wich is delicious when combined with the right ingredients.
As for sushi I really have no alternatives to the classic kappamaki (cucumber rolls), but it's very nice.

I have tried: maki sushi, sashimi and tempura and...I love tempura!!yum!
sushi and takoyaki
Mochi is awesome, I really like mochi deserts with the sweet bean paste in them. Sushi is good to, but so expensive ; ; I usually just tend to buy a slab of fresh salmon from a local grocer and have sashimi with soy sauce and wasabi to dip it in.
How can you resist miso soup?

Nothing better! (^.^)
As far as Japanese food goes, it's not really offered properly in the US. The vegetables in the US are generally different. Without daikon, lotus root, and various types of soy products that are really hard to get, you're not eating "Japanese" food.
For stuff we can make, my wife and I love to eat pizza with corn and white sauce, which is an Osaka favorite not sold in the US.
Regards, Aaron

I love sushi! Espacially eel and salmon, and usually I have ramen on cold days. I don't have much authentic Japanese food unless I was tasting the aritificial stuff. I went to a Russian Japanese restaurant and had the tastiest sushi, all assortments, and yummy, yummy salmon, eel, and shrimp sushi. I want to back there again. =(

Most of the japanese food I've tried has been pretty recent in my life, besides noodles anways. I like salmon sushi though I've tried everything but octopus. The fish roe sushi was a moutful, its not the best, but finding roe later and having them burst is fun. I like maki, tempura++, teriyaki and thats all I can name that I tried. My japanese friend says he has to take me to REAL dim sum(sp?) sometime because I've only had bad shrimp dumplings. Looking forward to that.
We also made onigiri together after I fell in love with the fruits basket manga. Hehe I was obsessed, so we made some with tuna+japanese mayo+flying fish roe and some with just furikake+umeboshi. I can only take the umeboshi in very small doses as its way way salty so tuna is my fav.

Closing. Listfest. Please read our guide before starting threads.
Man, I am SO sick of Japanese food, it's hard to decide.
What's that? Do I hear jaws dropping at the fact that someone doesn't like the kawaii sushi desu? Too bad =D.
Anyway, I knda like Tempura soup. Not normal Tempura, because I'm already sick of that. It needs the soup for it to be enjoyable >/.
