This wallpaper captures the urban essence that proliferated the art of Ghost in the Shell in every incarnation of the series. Phill does an amazing job of capturing a moment of surrealism.

While there are a few, stray building angles and shadows, you find that your eye forgives the minor details and instead focuses on the overall scene that is larger than life, with lights trailing off into infinity.

2nd attempt at vectoring. . .well, 1st completed one anyway. I gave up on the other one ^^;

Outlines were a bitch. Gawd. Otherwise, I guess I'm pretty happy with this. Some jaggedness near the edges, which i only realized upon uploading. Damnit, will fix them later.

Comments? Ideas for a wallpaper or a background? I'm thinking of just leaving it like that (with an appropiate background of course).

Thanks in advance.

Hi there, nice vector work for your second attempt, as you sai the rough lines, it's a weird thing, what program did you use? However very smooth shapes and lines.
Talking about the bck, from my point of view, my advice is that not convert the image into a wallpaper directly, because a first plane of a head it's difficult to fit on desktop, I think a wallpaper must have some space for icons, and breath a little with "empty" spaces so you can play with the head, re-cg the top and try to fit her with some nice textured background, put her name or the series name with some cool typo and you got it.

Hope I helped a bit

Hmm, good point about the icons thing...I don't show icons on my desktop, so I kinda forgot about that ^^;

I really have no idea about the jagged lines. I think its just photoshop ><

Thanks for your comments.

Do you have an option for smoothing or Anti-alias? That might help with the jagged lines.

Edit: Oh, and look at the settings when you export the JPEG.

edit2: Oh, it is a gif. Maybe try saving it as a Jpeg.

T ev0luti0nzer0: Thanks. Hmm, right eye looks wrong? I'll try to fix it.

T Jinto-Lin: I always thought anti-aliasing was on default ^^; And I don;t think it's the gif format. . .I've always saved in gif format without a problem, and always at the maximum settings. But I'll try a jpeg format just in case. Thanks =).

Was it a deliberate move to have the colours not match the outlines? If so you need to be more consistent with it - the lines are matched in places but not in others.

If not then you need to retweak the colours to match the outlines better - I'm looking especially at some of the hair strands on the right near the eye.

I'd take another look at the coloured parts of the eyes too. I find generally with vectors you're better off simplifying what's there and having solid blocks of colour or doing something using things like radial gradients. It suitts the vector style better than trying to go more complex.

The jagged lines look rather bizarrely like you've used the magic wand tool to cut something out. If you are extracting something zoom right in to about 800 times and use the polygon lasso tool to eat away what you don't want.

Actually, the eyes were my pathetic attempts at using the brush tool. With my mouse and shaky hands ^^;

I noticed about the issue with the lines. I'll try to fix them as soon as I can =) Thanks.
